I always thought of it this way. What if the ministry was my job, something I was charging the society an hourly fee for? I would expect to be paid starting when I arrived at the Hall, just as I expect my employer to start my time as soon as I show up at the office whether the computers are down or not. At my job I don't punch out when I go to the restroom or get coffee in the breakroom. So it was the same with field service. If we met at the Hall at 9AM and then at noon we were back in the kingdom hall parking lot, I'd count 3 hours. It didn't matter if we drove 30 minutes to the territory, worked an hour, took a 15-minute break, then I sat in the car for 15 minutes while others were on a return visit. I made myself available from 9-12 so I counted the 3 hours.

Put them in the stalls of the ladies rooms at the Halls and at conventions. One in the drawer of the magazine counter, one in the territory book, one under the sound system controls.
One at each not-at-home.

Every publisher must pay for assembly costs???
by sacolton injust saw this posted on watchtower uncensored .... .
want to hear the latest debacle?
the po in my mom's congregation told them that at the next 1-day-assembly it will be the responsibility of every publisher to put 3 in the box towards the running costs at the assembly hall.

It certainly does cost money to have these assemblies and conventions, even if the building is owned by the circuit or the society and already paid for.
Let's take for an example an assembly hall that was built 20 or 30 years ago and is paid for, and there is a 2-day assembly there 50 weeks out of the year. There is an electric bill, water bill, let's say the parking lot has to be resurfaced every 5 years, seats need recovering every 3 years, the carpeting replaced every 10 years, toilet seats replaced every 5 years. All those costs can be broken down and averaged out, and divided by 50 weeks. Then they can estimate how much $ it costs to operate and maintain the building for each assembly. it does make sense that each congregation or each circuit should pay for their "share" of the expenses. But many JWs can barely afford the gas to get there, let alone the motel rooms.
A more cost-effective idea would be not to have such large meetings. Cover the material on a congregation level, perhaps in special study articles or special Sunday talks. Each congregation has to support itself anyway; why add to that burden?

Why don't they just sell tickets to get in, like a movie theatre?

Mary is right! She must be a prophet! Promote Appoint her to some position of responsibility. Give her something, someone, to oversee.

Welcome. I too got so tired of always walking a thin line, being "exemplary" and giving my best only to be torn down and told it's not good enough, by people who were getting away with doing things I would never do. I started associating with "worldlings" and felt better because they respected me and built me up.

My Husband Cuts through the BS!
by 3dogs1husband ina long time ago my husband came up with this.. the wtbts holds out our hope like a carrot on the end of a stick, and we should be motivated to all ways want and try to get it.
if you change you mind in anyway and no longer want the carrot, or just wanna stand and eat the grass, you then will be beaten by the stick.. .

You know what I don't understand?
We read about all the atrocities committed throughout human history - Hitler's concentration camps, today's crime, all the deaths and suffering from diseases, millions of children dying every day from hunger...and we're told that Jehovah does see but it is not His time to act yet. He has His appointed time, just wait.
But...God forbid a teenage girl should kiss a boy, God forbid a teenager should masturbate or his sideburns be a little too long...well all of a sudden the angelic armies are immediately up in arms, the heavenly courts are looking on as the judicial committee RUNS to act speedily and execute divine judgement against these vile evildoer teens that are contaminating the congregation...gotta take care of this right now.....
these elders are mentally ill.

Welcome and thanks for posting your story. I am so sorry you went thru all this. There are many elders who are downright wicked.
