It was a rough recording, but it's clear they were scrapping the the bottom of the barrel for material.

My Letter to Brooklyn about the Parousia that got me disfellowshipped
by cofty inthis is the letter i wrote back in '96 about the parousia.
following the '95 watchtower that disconnected the "generation" from 1914 i began to look carefully at end-time prophecy and soon discovered what i knew were basic errors in what i had been taught.. i was a loyal jw at the time and was still serving as an elder.
i used only watchtower publications in my research.

Vidqun: Reminded me of my letter to Brooklyn. They answered it with a "no comment"
Hmm. I got the same response to my letter.
Nice letter, Cofty. Well done. I'm also curious about the questions Cold Steel asked.

Watcher: I'm just trying to get people to examine their REAL reasons for stumbling out of the JW's.
Maybe with the passage of time, they'll realize that serving Jehovah really is the best way of life.
Watcher, I'm just tuning in on this thread. I haven't read all nine pages of it so if this has been discussed, I apologize.
Your above statement sounds like in order for us to honor our vow to God we must reconsider our decision to leave the WT org. By you own description of your casual approach to the organization; "don't read all the literature", "not to earn brownie points in [an] earthly organization"... you sound like you understand that the organization itself is not part of your vow.
I'm a little confused where you stand.

Ding: What should a JW do when he discovers that the organization he thought was Jehovah's... isn't?
Should his loyalty be to God or to men?
If something comes up that we do not understand [ like discovering TTATT ] we will wait patiently until it is made thoroughly clear to us. If we feel sure something is wrong [ like evidence of TTATT ] we will ‘keep the commandment’ of our Father and take whatever theocratic steps are open to us [ like sit down and shut up ] and then wait on Jehovah. We will not ‘forsake our mother’s teaching’ by immediately beginning to criticize and find fault [ like asking to many questions ]. We will realize that Jehovah knows what is going on in his [ his... HIS... HA! - oh, how they slay me ] organization, and if he is willing to permit it, who are we to insist it should be different [ scriptural ]? If we really have faith [ properly conditioned cult thinking ], we will know that if it is wrong he will straighten it out eventually [ or nonsustainability forces our hand ], and we are far safer inside his organization even with these minor [ like bleeding to death, et al. ] difficulties than we would be on the outside where only chaos and destruction [ and freedom from mind control ] await us.

Something better than Xmas
by zound insaw the title of this recent watchtower and it reminded me of the standard response to b'days and xmas celebrations:.
"we don't limit giftgiving to a specific day, we give gifts all year round!".
did anyone growing up a jw get gifts all year round?.

cantleave: I remember being told as a kid that we don't need holidays since we have assemblies, which are like living in paradise...
Aahhhh, paradise!
I have to give credit where due. My folks were pretty good at making the "gifts any time of year" thing a reality. With five kids in school watching everyone else bring their xmas gifts in for show-and-tell, my folks were not going to be seen as neglectful.
And I believe it was genuinely their nature.

exJW Psychology 101--Keeping Your Cool While Fading
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inin an effort to get some help and hopefully help others, i'd like to start this thread about psychology, specifically starting with the subject of anger management.. .
personally, i don't have much of a temper.
what i do have, i've learned to control.

d: I used to be angry. But I am not so angry that much anymore.
Same... although I am reminded of just how short my fuse can be when met with disrespect or attempts at manipulation. This whole Watchtower affair has left me raw.
Great advise Billy. I like your family modo: whoever raises their voice in a disagreement is the loser.
I would SO lose first... mostly.

Since Great Crowd has no mediator
by sosoconfused ini am thinking that maybe i missed this discussion or something.
now for years in the org i never ever paid attention to the article that says jesus is the mediator for the 144000 alone.
yesterday talking to my 70+ year old dad he got violently angry with me and threw his cane at me because he said i was a liar.. .
