We had a brother going in for a bypass operation and this BETHEL brother from the farm prayed for Jeh's spirit to be with him and to "guide the hands of the surgeon." Words used often were watchcare, edify, bolster the weak,.......I got to stop, it's giving me the creeps

Add your favorite JW prayer cliche'
by King Solomon inyou know what i'm talking about: the trite, often-repeated phrases that convey the person offering the prayer has drawn a mental blank, and utters these words while their brain desperately searches for the next cliche', so they can conclude the ritual with the required tag, "in jesus' name we pray".... (is that like the postage stamp?).
ok, i'll kick this one off, and take the most obvious:.
"forgive us where we fall short....".

I'm back. Used to work for a brother. Nicest guy you would ever meet. As his wealth grew so did his status with the society, working for the society, entertaining GB's at his home and what a change in that man, like he wanted nothing to do with with "common" people anymore. Not much genuine sincere humbleness as you move up the ranks of JW Society men. I got more but that's enough cause I feel my BP rising as I think about all of the phoniness

And not only do I agree with most everything said here, it goes beyond that. A feeling I've had for years even way before I faded and was still in good standing as an elder is that as a man moves up in the hierarchy of the organization some begin to look down on others, treating them as lesser ones. Observations; you are not allowed to walk through a bethel lobby in work clothes (why don't you have a job that requires a cheap suit and neck tie like we do?). Almost no more farming at all at the Wat Farm. They say it's cheaper to buy. I did a lot of business with local farmers years ago and the machinery, buildings, equipment, fields, UNLIMITED FREE LABOR.......etc. were the envy of commercial farmers around the same area, cheaper to buy is a BS story (we just don't like all these dirty farm workers around here, smelly hogs, noisey dusty machinery) (They still have the beef farm, that's a few miles down the road so they are not bothered by that yet) Go to a KH or AH project. For about every two skilled tradesman/woman there's a white shirt guy thinking it wouldn't get built without HIM. I got more to say but you got the point, got a call, got to run

Who else, besides me?
by AK - Jeff inover the years on jwn i have often found myself hunting through posts of newcomers, hoping against hope i suppose, that the newbie would be one of my former friends in the local congregation down the street.. i just find it hard to imagine that not a soul among these people has taken the courage to investigate their religion and leave like my wife and i have done.. as the local 'active apostate', i also supposed that at any moment some of the 'brothers' would come covertly to my home, knock and say something like " i am out - please let's talk about it, why i left, why you left.
but, none of the above has ever happened.
i did come across a local former jw here, from another congregation, and we have become good friends over the past few years.

Out in service we would sometimes talk about the people in our territory that used to be in or attend and now they don't, enough to make two more congregations. But I don't personally know one other person that posts here or anyplace else, wish I did. Also don't know anyone also out that I was good friends with, wish I did. So in that way I feel somewhat isolated.

If they stop publishing "new peak magazine placement numbers" you'll know that tracts are soon to replace mags in field service. If they do that they will just kind of ease it in, maybe have a few parts on how busy people are so this is the more effective way to do it now. Maybe a 90 second bible study out of a tract so they could count more bible studies. Who knows what they'll come up with next, fun to watch though.

Welcome!! I understand your posistion and feelings. Only the more you THINK the more you will begin to detest going to meetings, service, DO & CO & GB worship, and the phoniness of many. But you have to take things at a comfortable pace for you. Just don't give them anymore of your money. Again, welcome.

LongHairGirl I think you about nailed it. I also am a fader and know I am talked about. I know that as a fader my old circle of JW friends are history, comes with fading, but it is their decision not mine. We just understand how it is, when I/we were in we would have done the same. I don't post on facebook, but when I started my fade I cut myself off from JW's. If anyone calls me up to preach I cut it short, if it is just a shoot the crap call it's all good. If they stop by in a car group with neck ties on, I'm busy, if they are casual or need to borrow a tool or need help, all invite them in and offer them a beer. But none of us should be surprised to loose old JW friends, we know how it works
