Joe,
The local flood of Mesopotamia was 7 million square miles. I doubt that a dove could have made it to the "boundery". An Albatross yes...a dove no.
achristian believes those who think the bible teaches that the flood was global look foolish.

i encourage all christians to investigate the possibility that the bible does not really teach that the whole earth was flooded at the time of noah.

and classed the both of you.
move on.
What the hell are you trying to say??
i don't know if any of you really want to hear this, so if not please stop reading here.. i told a few of you about a guy i have been seeing for the past few months.
well, i found out that he has been seeing other women, and i spoke to him last night and tried to break it off with him.
he didnt want to hear it.
Nice letter Shari,
You know the old saying "A leopard don't change his spots." If this guy can date several women at once he will most likely cheat on you once he makes a committment. I'm surprised you haven't hooked up with one of the good looking single apostate men on this board. I think apostates make great couples!
there is no word in watchtower speak (theocratise) that carries more emotional charge than apostate.
to be labeled an apostate is the lowest low worst than pond scum.
in jw thinking, there is more hope for a pedophile or a murderer than for an apostate.
singing..."But, as for meeeee......., determined I shall beeeeeee....,
to walk eternallyeeeee.....in my APOSTACYEEEEEEEEE!!!!!"
God that was beautiful!!
i am new here and have been away from ex-dub world for about eight months.
many of you here were posters on h20 and have come on this board with a different moniker.
i was "milky" on h20.

have you ever wondered why god dealt with man up until the first century c.e.
and then for the last 2,000 years we haven't heard from him?
could it be that god is upset with mankind for killing his son?
willy think,
You quoted Deuteronomy 27:26 where it says that whoever doesn't keep the Law is "cursed". The Jews were the only ones under obligation to keep the Law because of the covnent that God made with Abraham, so Goyim or the Gentiles wouldn't have been cursed for not keeping the Law because they were not under the Law. You said "By accepting the suffering due to our guilt Jesus enables our hearts to be opened up to having a true faith....". If we stick by your reasoning on the ransom, Jesus sacrifice would benefit only the Jews because only they would have guilt for not keeping the commandments of the Mosiac Law.
We could debate forever why Jesus said "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?", but I feel that we would have to have been there to really get the jist of why he said it. From an apologist view I think you gave a good answer. But answer me this: "Could" or "Did" Jesus sin? If he had sinned would have God destroyed the universe immediately, or would He have waited till now to destroy all of mankind?
Beans,
Who said I was sex starved? And besides, elders get plenty of sex.
i would like to take this opportunity to give a brief account of the events that i have had to under go over the last 5 weeks.
i have been a jehovahs witness for 38 years and all of my close family are currently active jws.
i got married to my wife in march 1999, she was a baptized witness and had been for over 30 years.
ukexjw,
If you don't appeal and decide to sue you need to let the elders know that you are suing them, not the Society. The Society will not help these elders finacially, they will be on their own. Thus they will announce "that you no longer believe as one of Jehovah's witnesses", which is the same as disfellowshipped. Elders don't want to be sued and if you have the finacial means you need to talk to an attorney. It's sad that you have to endure this crap just because you wanted to protect your wife's privacy.
in this forum, we often wonder what we can do to make the society look bad.
we come up with ideas like picketing assemblies, mail campaigns, legal action, and many others.
although these ideas are laudable and i would not want to discourage anyone, they sometimes create sympathy for the witnesses, and make us look bitter and fanatical.
An "Apostate Kit". It could sell for $9.95 plus shipping. I wonder what it would include.
well they are scabbling around to find as many people to attend the memorial again this year.. i walked out 3.5 years ago and have not heard anything since from the elders.
i have one that lives about 50 metres away and he is one that has not even telephoned me in all that time.
.. just the other night he turns up on my door step and hands me the usual invite!
What I never could understand is why people who were inactive and never went to meetings bothered to go to the Memorial. According to the Society unless a publisher is "whole souled" to Jehovah (making all the meetings, service, etc...) they will die. I quit going when I found out that on the same night as the Memorial, Satan groups meet just like the witnesses and pass the bread and the wine, not eating or drinking any of the "emblems", because they are saying "NO" to Christ body! Some spooky stuff!!

-willy think,
If we assume that Jesus died with God's approval, then we have to come up with some rational explaination as to why Jesus felt abandoned. The Society teaches that at the last minute, God withdrew His holy spirit from Christ, and Christ wasn't aware that this was going to happen. Is this what you believe? Otherwise how do you explain Jesus crying out his apparent pain over being "dumped"?
John Lennon sang "Father,...you left me...but I never left you...", I don't think Lennon was singing any kind of victory song.
-Abaddon,
I agree that there are many unanswered questions about Jesus but I posted my question "Did Jesus Sin?", assuming that he was God's son and was supposed to die for our sins. Why do Christians automatically assume that Christ never sinned and passed all his test with "flying colors"? Jesus was also a "rebel" and in his rebellion it appears he violated the Law. If he was really tested and God allowed him to be tested then there was a 50% chance that he could have failed. That's a pretty high percentage, wouldn't you agree? I personally don't know what to make of the historical Jesus but I do feel it is pure unmitigated credulity on the part of Christians to assume that Christ could have not sinned.
