How did you visualize Jehovah when you were young?

i was born as a third generation (perhaps even fourth gen. but my great great grandfather never got baptized) jw.

i remember that when i was young, perhaps about five years old, i would think about jehovah as this big black ghost with yellow eyes.

to me he was quite frightening, and i was constantly catious not to piss him off.

no. i was always reminded that "no one can see god and yet live". and that he is in the "spirit realm" which makes him invisible.

as i turn things over in my mind, one jw lie stands out.. that god doesn't listen to all prayers.

unless i have it wrong, and i don't think i do, jw's believe, and have been endlessly, ruthlessly taught, that only those living by "jehovah's righteous standards"...that awful glib phrase again...will get their prayers listened to.

in other words, god looks at the number the person is calling from, so to speak, checks who it is, looks him up in his book of misdeeds, and angrily slams the phone down.. the jehovah god of the wt is petty and mean-minded.

i think romney will be the guy but i have my doubts that he will beat obama because no one seems to be in the lineup that anyone wants to embrace..

I like Ron Paul. Odds are good Romney will get it. And its going to be a tight race between the two parties..I suspect Obama will end up with another term.

How Come I Rarely See People In Field Service, Vs The 1980-1990s Doing House2House?

field service hours have hit new records each year, but i am seeing less people working the territory.

where is all the time spent, that people are putting in the field ministry?

it's been close to ten years, since i have seen people working certain territories.

All the witnesses are mostly made up of older ones...they can't walk door to door anymore and all they do is RVs (magazine routes) they have been doing for the last 10 years. Even though the people they call on have no intention of becoming a witness. Plus, if they do get territory, they don't usually do more than 5 to 10 houses at one time before they go on break...followed by RVs

All the young witnesses don't want to go out in service unless thier older family members drag them out or are guilted into it. Then they have to ride along with the older ones who do nothing but RVs.

Only the 2-4 pioneer sisters in each hall are the ones working territory.

Im am just guessing on all of this..but it has a ring of truth to it.

I just got back from the Assembly today. Bethel Speaker came in to give the first talk of the morning and the last talk in the afternoon.

The main point the bethel speaker told us to keep in mind: "Man was created with free will as long as we choose to serve Jehovah."

My take: I just spent $50 worth of gas to go to an assembly to hear a contradictory statement. Assholes!!

many people will scoff at the thought that the org will collapse.

i agree that it will never collapse but the crumbling has begun.

think about the following.....they have a serious lack of potential future leaders.
