Just wondering if anyone else has read this book by James Redfield and what your thoughts on it are. I found the insights interesting.

i really identify with many of her lyrics, especially on her supposed former infatuation junkie cd and her unplugged cd.

There are a few songs on Jagged Little Pill that carry a lot of meaning to me. "Ironic" was the song that played non-stop when my brother died. Those were some very difficult years for me and I gotta say Alannis helped me through. :)
And I was a major fan of the earlier years of YCDTOTV. Loved the Moose/Lisa dynamic! Don't say water!

hi friends,.
i have been overwhelmed by the number of witnesses contacting me on the net lately.
traffic to the site has more than tripled since feb. 1999, and i am getting tons of email every day.
Dear Randy,
I also want to express my appreciation to you for all the work you've done through the Freeminds site to present the "other" side of the WTBTS. Yours was one of the first sites I found years ago that didn't scare me off. I was really fascinated by the "What happened at Bethel in the 1980s" stories and eventually mustered up the courage to read COC because of the way you presented the information. And the touch of humor on the site was appreciated as well (cartoons during the 80s stuff).
I also enjoyed your "Randy TV" snippet. Couldn't help but think how much of an "elder" you really sound like! ;)
Take care,
Kristen
one thing i don't know why.
time is a valuable thing.
one thing i don't know why.
IN THE END - LINKIN PARK
It starts with
One thing I don't know why
It doesn't even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind I designed this rhyme
To explain in due time
All I know
Time is a valuable thing
Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day
The clock ticks life away
It's so unreal
Didn't look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Trying to hold on but didn't even know
I wasted it all just to
Watch you go
I kept everything inside and even though I tried it all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when...
I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall to
and lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
One thing I don't know why
It doesn't even matter how hard you try
Keep that in mind I designed this rhyme
To remind myself how
I tried so hard
In spite of the way you were mocking me
Acting like I was part of your property
Remembering all the times you fought with me
I'm surprised it got so (far)
Things aren't the way they were before
You wouldn't even recognize me anymore
Not that you knew me back then
But it all comes back to me
In the end
You kept everything inside and even though I tried it all fell apart
What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when I tried
I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
to lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I've put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
for all this
There's only one thing you should know
I've put my trust in you
Pushed as far as I can go
And for all this
There's only one thing you should know
I tried so hard
And got so far
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
I had to fall
to lose it all
But in the end
It doesn't even matter
could someone please post the verbatim 'purpose' of the awake mag (inside front cover) and also the one that was in there for years before the 1995 generation change article.. i know there are two differenet 'purposes' just like the baptism questions were changed.. i'd really appreciate it.. lisa
WHY "AWAKE!" IS PUBLISHEDAWAKE! is for the enlightenment of the entire family. It shows how to cope with today's problems. It reports the news, tells about people in many lands, examines religion and science. But it does more. It probes beneath the surface and points to the real meaning behind current events, yet it always stays politically nuetral and does not exalt one race over another.
Most importantly, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away.
—AWAKE! 1/8/90
this is my first time on a message board relating to anything jw.
i haven't posted anything in the past because i still held to the fear that it would be betraying what i was taught, betraying my family, betraying god.
this is precisely my life as it is now.
Hi there Kat!
It was great chatting with you last night (even after too much cookies 'n' cream! I see many have been very supportive of where you are right now. What a great group!
I can only agree with Esther about the current issue you are facing. In many ways I wish what you are contemplating and the circumstances around it was the same for me—because there is so much love and acceptance already established in your family relationships. Nevertheless, when you are on this side of it all, it's a scary, uncomfortable place to be.
Whatever you plan on doing, do it for you when you feel ready. And be assured that you will have some supportive friends to help you through that time when you need it.
Take care,
Kristen
in response to the commonly-repeated myth that all ex-witnesses are bitter angry people with nothing better to do then attack their former religion, i thought we should set the record straight.
where are you in life right now?
are you doing things that you always wanted to do, traveling to interesting places in your free time, making great new friends, generally enjoying life?
Life began for me when I stopped attending meetings. I'm still learning how to adapt to the freedom, but you can count me in with the "Happy positive lives after leaving" crowd.
hey ya'll ... ain't tuesdays, thursdays and sundays even better nowadays ?.
i was wondering what it is that you hated most about the meets ?.
the one thing that used to really rile me was the pressure to control the children - the frowns and the disapproving looks when they were just behaving like normal kids .... the worst of it all for me was seeing any little person being taken outside and hearing the loud slaps even when the door was closed .... what is it that you least miss ?
Before I hit my teenage years, I dreaded attending meetings. Long boring study sessions with books & magazines in my lap that were way beyond my comprehension. Plus having to stay up late for it all. Thank goodness for My Book of Bible Stories and Juicy Fruit gum. Never allowed to sleep or draw. I did learn that you shouldn't put Tic Tacs in your nose though...
I remember all of the Tues/Thurs nights when dinner was running late. It would get past 6:30 p.m. and my older brother would sit across the dinner table and mouth to me "eat sloooow". It worked a few times to get us out of the meetings. Those nights were full of so much freedom. Play with friends, watch TV, and not have to dress up.
Don't miss meetings one bit. Everything that I've learned through 25 years of repetition is still stored on my hard drive (brain).

i realized that one year has passed since i initially signed up on this board.
a year ago i was afraid of being part of this place; but knew it was necessary if i wanted to move beyond where i was.
today i am totally comfortable being around here.
Es,
You have always been one of my favorite people. (((HUGS)))
IW,
Thank you too for your sincere response. I have always enjoyed your posts and insights you share.
Thanks again,
Kristen
