sharon like her sister janet was also raised a jw.
she left the religion three years ago just about the same time as robert and janet.
her husband is not a jw but did attend the occasional meeting.

it is hard for me to transcibe certain feelings into written words especially since i'm not what you would consider to be a real emotional person.
i have also mastered the art of rarely showing any outward emotional expression.
i will try and do my best to give you some of the feelings i experienced today through my eyes, so please bare with me.. i drove the hour to mcminnville which is a small town about forty miles south of portland.

i've always blamed my father for lots of stuff.
i think he's a victim too though.
he is a victim of his fears.. watchtower played on our fears of taking risks in life.
Fear is a great motivator. Marketers use it all of the time in advertising to sell products. And it was a great motivator used in the Organization. I lived my JW life doing all I could to please God and men and fearing judgement, armageddon, and death. Hoping that I might fall into the probably you will be saved category...
Joel, have you ever had the opportunity to read a book called Life 101—Everything We Wished We Had Learned About Life In School—But Didn't by Peter McWilliams? It has several great discussions about our emotions and fear, and gives some interesting thoughts on managing the fears we feel.
I see the book all the time on my local library's shelf. I read it first several years ago when I was still an active JW. I recently started to read it again and I'm amazed at how differently I absorb the information now that I'm older and am no longer set in the JW belief system.
I think you may enjoy reading the book.

my wife and i are back in school again and we are in a philosophy class and the issue of god has come up in the research material and the following is under consideration for us- .
being involved in trying to explain the reason that god permits wickness i find the explanation that i use to use from the platform as a jw to be very weak to say the least .
yet i find that it is the same basic explantion given by most "beleivers" and it too is weak as tea.
"Why don't JT shut the Hell so we can get out of this class i wanted to see Friends tonight"
LOL, JT, I had to chuckle at that one because I notice the same thing in many of my classes. So many kids "naturally" go on to college right after graduating high school and view it quite a bit differently than the adults who go back later to expand their knowledge base and accomplish something more personal to them.
I think we value school even more because it was something we couldn't *really* participate in years ago, and now it is catch up time, big time.

today is my birthday, born in 1936. that makes me 66. i can hardly beleive it.
i'm still in good health but know it's just a short run until something does me in.
i'm really thankful for the great life i've enjoyed, no real problems that i consider serious.
