In love with a JW...

apologies if this has been discussed before, or is in the wrong forum, but i could really do with some advice.

two years ago i met the love of my life; someone i regard as my soulmate.

he is an active jw and i am a practising church of england person.

YOU WILL HAVE TO TRANSFORM INTO A WHOLE "NEW" PERSON IN ORDER TO QUALIFY BECAUSE JWS CAN ONLY MARRY IN THE LORD...YOU WILL HAVE TO SUBMIT TO HIS WILL...MOST IMPORTANTLY TO THE WT...AND THERE IS NO NEGOTIATING...IF YOU WANT OUT, YOUR LIFE WITH HIM WILL BE MISERY BECAUSE HIS LOYALTY WILL BE TO THE WT FIRST...

If this is how you see a happy marriage...just go ahead...I left the JW's 2 years ago and I am a second class citizen in my own home...because my wife's loyalty is toward the WT...and I get the leftovers of her time and her love...

Who cares how much it sells for...there are plenty of suckers to pay for a brand new one. The WT will loan them money they donated...so they can donate a second time to pay off their KHall...that will belong to the WT anyways...and then there will be some renovations...and the WT will loan them money they donated...so they can donate a third time to pay off the renovations of the KHall...that will still belong to the WT anyways....must I continue?

What would WTS do if a KH with a loan didnt pay them back ?

what if the brothers and sisters at a cong ran into bad luck and couldnt afford to pay for a while.

what happens ?.

yes i know about the menlo park thing in california, but this is a slightly different case..

I had this discussion with the COBOE when I was still in...he said the congregation would be disolved and its publishers sent to neighboring congregations and the KHall would be sold by the WT to pay back the loan. If the KHall is owned by the congregation as a registered corporation, the proceed of the sale would also be sent to the society.

But before this happens, the WT would make arrangements not to lose the cash flow generated by a KHall...for example they could relocate one of the congregations from a fully paid KHall to another KHall that needs financial support. This happened to us. We built a new KHall and we paid it off in 10 years. Then the WT decided to build a double KHall on a very expensive plot of land despite the fact that most publishers who would attend came from the poorest part of town...To help pay for the new building they had us move out of our hall and drive 15 miles outside our territory to go to the meetings...we would pass 2 other KHalls on our way there! After several years, it was decided to renovate our "old" 20 year old KHall...so you've guessed it...they moved us back...to pay for the renovations....

When will they merge the BS, TMS, WTS, T into one meeting ?

it seems to me with all the times being cut from talks, you could save further time and simply smash all the meetings into one on the weekend.

this would also save the need for those extra kingdom hall songs, and one trip to the kh.

with all these savings, jws could easily double their ministry..

I agree with Finally Free - when the book study was eliminated the COBOE had our Tuesday night meeting pushed to Wednesday because he felt that there were too many days in a row without a meeting...Some of the other elders didn't agree but they went along anyways. I was serving as a MS and I told him that with a Tuesday meeting and no book study on Thursday was perfect for me because I could now travel for business without missing any meetings...but if they moved the meeting on Wednesday, I would miss many meetings...he said that this was their decision and it was up to me to arrange my schedule to be at the meeting. So I asked about the "poor brothers" who had their meeting on Tuesday or Thursday how would they survive having so many days in a week without a meeting? I started missing most Wednesday night meetings, asked to be removed as a MS and faded completely out of the "truth".

i honestly cant remember the exact date when i was baptized.

it does not bother me one bit.

i didnt have it stamped in that shitty reasoning book/babel that i got at the time, so i guess the only place i could find it would be my cards, which are far away..

Got married and had our first child early 1976...people were talking..."what are they thinking, with the end looming"..this month she turned 36...and I can't image life if I had obeyed the WT and not have children.

For those of you who inactive, but not officially DFd/DAd, how do you manage?

i read with interest the thread about how people who are mentally out yet still attend (some) meetings manage to do continue to do it and it got me wondering, how do those of us who are completely inactive, no longer practicing members of the faith, manage to pull off our new ex-jw life, yet never invite scrutiny or investigation from former friends, elders, etc.. take me, for example.

i've been out several years now, but have never officially renounced my faith.

i've never out and out called it a crock of shit to anyone who could make real trouble for me.

I'm in the same situation as Wha happened? and OTWO. The only contacts I have are those initiated by my active wife, when she occasionally invites friends over for coffee or a meal. She is very selective because she knows that I would back off in a confrontation or that I would tell them to mind their own business if they started asking questions. Except for one JW I occasionally ride motorcycles with, all my ex-friends stay away. I have a very busy life at work and I travel a lot so I have a life outside the JW community. I have regrets not being able to be with my wife as I used to, but that's the price I need to pay with the hope that one day she chooses me over them...in the meantime I love her the best I can.

I told my brother who is an elder that I can no longer let other men guide my life - if the Bible doesn't clearly provide clear guidelines on certain subjects, anything the WT says is simply men's opinions that can change or could be wrong, leaving followers of men to pay the conscequences...If I am to pay conscequences of bad decisions, I'd rather give myself a chance by deciding on my own. This way I have a better chance to succeed and I will no longer feel frustrated for being mislead...I gave a few examples, like being encouraged to quit school because I would have no time to have a career since the end was so near (1975), to refuse medical treatments that are now allowed or to put faith in a "creative" definition of the word generation without any scriptural backing. This is evidence that these are all imperfect men's opinions.

My brother couldn't answer back or even condemn what I said. I told him that my rejection of WT teachings made me an apostate and that he should now hate me according to the latest WT article on the "mentallydeseased" and contageous individuals who abandon the faith. I asked him if he would contact my elders to warn them about me so he could maintain a good conscience...He replied that he loves me and that nothing would ever change in our relationship...Hope he can keep his word, but better yet, hope he looks into some of the topics we discussed.

This will be an amazing trip UnConfused.

Seven years ago I rode from Toronto Ontario to Victoria BC, then down into the US. My wife rode on the back of my Honda ST1100 and after the first 3 days we didn't have any problem riding 400 - 500 miles a day. We went to the Road to the Sun in the National Glacier Park, North Cascade Hwy, Grand Coulee Dam, Buffalo Bill Dam, Yellowstone Park, Mt. Rushmore...8,000 miles in 28 days. Our last day we rode from Chicago to Toronto...We rode on dry pavement except for Banff in the Canadian Rockies where there was snow overnight that turned into heavy rain by the time we were ready to leave...(2nd week of August). Three days later in Spokane it was 100 degrees...During the course of the trip we stayed with relatives on the Canadian west coast and with "brothers" and we stopped to visit "worldly" friends in Chicago. The rest of the time we stayed at affordable motels. A few times we stopped at more luxurious Hotels to spoil ourselves a bit...it was a vacation after all.

If you ever plan a trip my way just let me know and you can stay with us...and we may right together for part of the way.
