These instructions will be regarded as applicable at anytime for JWs. They reinforce the authority of the GBs who can declare at anytime that now is the time to rely on Jehovah for guidance even if it doesn't make sense in a human standpoint.

Sacred Heart...Canadiens should be a clue! Now my neighbors are mostly Leafs fans. When I started fading I was told I was no longer welcomed to the 3 games I played in for over a decade with my JW friends, including some from the Canadian bethel... So within a day I found 2 teams I could play with at the local arena. Better hockey and less drama...and the only condition is to pay my share of the cost for ice rental.

Hey FL P...I'm a Canadiens...once all the MS were called into a meeting with the elders and ordered to stop playing hockey at the arena. Their reason was that we shouldn't have organized recreation...that it should be random such as going to the ice rink at the park. We told them that at the park we had to play with worldly people who curse and play rough. At the arena we had control on what was going on. They agreed but said it shouldn't be every week and they didn't understand that we have to sign a contract with the arena to have the ice. They threatened to remove us as servants for devoting too much time to recreation. So I asked them if they watched TV. They all said yes...more than one hour a week? Of course...how is that any different than the weekly hockey game? What if I replaced hockey by taking knitting, spending every Friday night doing it? Forbidding hockey was easy for them because none of them played it...like forbidding knitting wouldn't affect us because none of us knit...Our game was at a decent time not to interfere with meetings or service and we had fathers and sons playing together. We included single parent kids...Still they didn't agree. The issue was discussed when the CO visited...little did they know that I often ran into him at the local NHL hockey games...end of the story. Today I am out of this cult and I no longer let anyone else dictate every aspects of how I should live my life...no one should ever submit to this type of slavery.

What is the purpose of Field Service??
by quellycatface inthe so used to say it was life saving work.i wasn't convinced.it was soul destroying in the area i lived.i didn't want to be so cynical as to think, it was just to gain converts, therefore more money but it certainly looks that way now..

As long as publisher feel the preaching work is important they will keep on donating money to support the WT. The bulk of the WT income surely doesn't come from the field, but from publishers donating. The moment field service loses its importance what work will donations support? Why would anyone donate?

Will be apostate...conditional love isn't love! If someone does good because he expects something in return, this isn't love. As soon as he realizes he's not getting what he expected he will drop you as a hot potato. There was an elder in my congregation who hugged and kissed me at every meeting. Since I left 4 years ago I haven't seen or heard from him except for a lame attempt of a shepherding call. So STADD's experience doesn't surprises me and I'm so sorry that he and his wife went through this ordeal with no real support and genuine love from the congregation. Having a district convention is a lame excuse not to attend someone's funeral...unless the deceased means nothing to you.

NVR2L8
18 visits to Vegas for me...Stayed at Caesar's 5 times, Mirage, TI, Rio, MGM, Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo, Aladdin (now Planet Hollywood) and the old Stardust... Cirque du soleil "O" at the Bellagio and Love at the Mirage are amazing shows. Dinner at Mon ami Gabi with coffee and French pastries at la Belle Madeleine at the Paris Hotel...all of this within walking distance from Caesar's palace. The Palms in the forum shops has the best steaks.

I felt the same way when I dumped all my talks, notes from the CO MS/elders meetings and bound volumes in the trash when I moved into a new house. My believing wife attempted to stop me but I told her the old literature is now full of apostate teaching and lies which caused my falling out..

Confused?
by nomorepain13 ini have been going to meetings since i was a child, long story short only recently i've started taking the truth seriously, i am not baptized but just an unbaptized publisher.
truth is i am so lonely in the congregation.
the other young people in the cong don't like me because they dont think i am going to "stay" for long, i've even worked on the ministry with an older brother and asked her am i giving the wrong impression to people?

Welcome Nomorepain.
How would you feel if someone would demand you dressed like him, like and eat the same food, watch the same movies, agree with everything he says whether he's right or wrong, never have a different opinion...before you can be his friend! You see JW indoctrination is exactly this: teaching you to conform before you can be a trusted "friend". This friendship is conditional to continuing to conform. I was a JW for 50 years and I stopped going to the KHall suddenly and I never received a phone call or even a visit by my best "friends" in the congregation. You see, they loved the JW I was and not the person NVR2L8 is. The morning after I decided to no longer attend meetings I was still the same caring person who lent them a hand fixing their cars, renovate their homes, played hockey or rode motorcycle with, lend some money to some of them...but that doesn't count anymore because I no longer fit the conditions to be their friend. So Nomorepain, I ask you...are these the type of friends you want? For the last few years I have made many new friends who care for me regardless of my religious beliefs or how I choose to live my life. I have lots of fun with them and none of it is immoral as the WT would like you to believe. You should seek that type of friends.
