Wow, This is Getting Tougher!

i'm having a really hard time giving my meeting parts.

i had a service meeting part this week and i could hardly get through it.

i am no longer convinced of some of the things jws teach and so i try to either eliminate those things from my parts, or reword them so that i'm not speaking about that which i do not personally believe.

@Franklin Massey = Any advice from Brothers who have been in a similar situation? Practical advice, please. I know what some will say, "Step down and fade out." That is not something I'm going to do right now.

That's me out of this thread.

I was in this situation and in the end the strain was too much I quit. While I was able I'd just stick to facts and put over JW doctrine as 'the watchtower says: blah blah...'

That way I wasn't saying it as if I believed it................that's just me.............a stubborn geezer!

What is it with all the men waking up but the wives stay in? Why is it the opposite for me?

this is something i've thought about for a while now.

it seems like the same story on this board over and over--the husband, who also might be an elder, ms, etc.--starts having doubts and researching, aka miseryloveselders and franklin massey and others.

he starts to smell the coffee and realizes that this organization isn't what it claims to be.

I was raised in the cult and am an ex-elder.

Mrs Punk however will not discuss my 'apostacy' it's as if she is not able to defend her beliefs. I don't think she knows how.

Mrs Punk is not a literate person and cannot use the CD Rom.She only studies the watchtower for Sunday or whatever is in the KM mid-week. She uses a different Bible translation as she can't understand the NWT.

It was studying with the JW's that helped to rescue her from an abusive family situation. I think she feels she owes them.

I don't think she'll ever wake up from cult induced delusional dreamland. She always says the GB are 'just imperfect men doing their best'...or....'it's the nearest thing to the truth.'

It's so frustrating for me. We've been thru' UN membership, Randcam, Philip Morris, stay alive in '75 and a whole host of stuff but she just puts up her forcefield and won't let it in.

I think literacy and family background are the factors for Mrs Punk.

he says, "let's thank jehovah".

the girl asks meekly, "can i thank jehovah"?

Not being nasty here but to be honest. If that little girl started to attend meetings you never know who's lurking at the Hall!

A wet elder was studying with a bloke who had genuine questions he wanted answers to. He wasn't trying to be clever or introduce 'apostate' ideas, he was simply searching for truth.

The wet elder tells him that he won't research his questions but they must continue to study the dublication as per the GB's instructions and his questions will be answered later.

I know what you're all thinking here.........

Upshot = Bloke stops studying! Own goal!

The 'melodies' are so trite you sing them without taking much notice of the words. However, the words are cleverly costructed to sink in at a subliminal level as you are not paying attention really.

Convention invitation distribution campaign - Apr KM

had a quick look at the april km - they are having (yet) another invitation campaign to the convention.

slight twist though , in that any invitations not used are to be taken to the convention & used in informal witnessing.. traditional "convention reminders" insert - usual stuff about "jehovah arranging the program" , get early to the stadium , tip restaurant staff , don't make a scene at hotel reception desks if they have messed up your booking , no peeing in the hotel pool etc.

(i made the last one up , but you get the gist.

In this area jws have to travel 100 miles to the convention. Are they supposed to hand out fliers to the public in that area to travel 100 miles?

Yes. In a word! That's what they do where I live. Advertise the indoctrination sessions for a gig 100 miles away.

We all had to agree what a loving provision..........................oooops! I just hurled..........

Witnesses at my door today

so, i've been waiting for them to do the *rounds* here for a while.

and they finally turned up.. i lead the discussion towards holy spirt and personal relationship with god.

(personal relationship with god is really about interacting with the father, jesus & the spirit, not just the spirit - but i think emphasising spirit is a simple way to get across my point) i was curious about whether or not they had one.

I think it's really difficult if not almost impossible to penetrate the JW forcefield factory setting default. No matter how logical or how scriptural or how factual and provable an argument is that undermines the JW leader's authority, it doesn't work.

They are afraid to question as they are really not good enough as it is and to question makes them worse in Jehovah's eyes.

Mrs Punk may as well put her fingers in her ears and sing 'LALALALALALALALALALALALA' while I talk.......she isn't listening!!

Try asking a JW how Jesus can possibly Michael the ArchAngel after reading Hebrews 1:4,5. As the CD Rom doesn't answer this question but bats it off into a different direction, I wonder if they'd come back?????

ok i was just blown away when i heard this today while driving, at first i thought it was the some old same old but then it went on and it seems like it is on a different level.. the subheading is "guard your heart by exercising self-control.

on page 27 par 17 it says "one way a person could wonder into the foolish course of the "young man in want of heart" is by aimlessly flipping though television channels or surfing the internet.

whether intentionally or not, he might chance upon sexually stimulating scenes.

drives me crazy!

so i put music on while hes here and it stops him.
