As I stated before, God is on vacation. It is his day of rest. Either that, or he simply doesn't exist. In either case, you are on your own, for better or worse. Forget about prayer and make the most of your life, as best you can. God is not there for you, never has been never will be.

God, where are you?
by onacruse ini haven't seen you posting here lately, and i just wondered if everything is ok?.
i've always considered you my best friend.
but lately i've been thinking about a lot of things, and it occurred to me: you've never said one word to me in my entire life, even though i've sent you thousands of messages; not exactly what friends do to each other.

Do You Find That You Are a Jealous Person?
by minimus inwhen you were in the congregation, did you find yourself typically getting jealous over people or position?
i knew many brothers and sisters that were always complaining about the recognition others in the congregation got.
if someone expressed a heartfelt thought or related a personal experience, the standard expression was, "oh, i can't believe this person!

Hey Minimus,
I do not have that many toys these days. I will tell you what, if you come to my house and buy lunch for me and my wife, I will give you my Buick Park Avenue Ultra. Of course, you have to figure out where I live. -

Hey Jim,
Not only are you a good writer and a good person to talk to on the phone, but are a handsome dude as well (I say that as a heterosexual). -

Nowisee,
You used the word "we" in terms of messing up. As I recall, it was Adam and Eve. It was not my fault, our yours either. So, I do not think the term "we" is applicable.
Now, since we are imperfect, how can we be blamed for our imperfection? After all, it was God who put us into an imperfect state. It is not our fault. As far as imperfection goes, I guess there are individual differences in our degree of imperfection. So, does God grade on a curve, and what constitutes a passing score? -

Imaginary headline: Bethelite Goes Bezerk and Guns Down 4 GBs!!!
by D wiltshire ini imagine that there must be quite a few bethelites that have been there for many years, and because of the internet or their own experience while working at bethel, that causes them to know that this is not the "truth".
but because they have gotten old and have no place else to go, and so make beleive they are still with the program.
can you imagine how tuff that must be, what kind of pressure that put on some poor soul lke that.

I will go against the grain here and agree with Reborn. I think the scenerio here is a real possibility. Most of those who wake up late in life to discover that they were sold out go into a depression over it. Some however, get really pissed and kill people.
I think this is an important issue, and worthy of discussion. -

What Is Our Responsibility in Life?
by cruzanheart inyesterday sword of jah read the letter i sent to the elders about my dad's death and responded.
he was very kind, even though i called the elders pharisees and the c.o.
stupid and insensitive (i should've been less kind).

What is our responsibilty in life?
I think is is a balance of our own pleasure and what we owe others, such as our spouse, our children, our employer, our community, etc. If you give too much to others, you can become joyless. If you give too much to yourself, you can hurt others. It is a difficult and fine blancing act.
How much to you give or partake in short term versus long term pleasure. If you invest everything in your future, your present life is rather barren and deviod of joy. If you invest everything in the present, your long term future will be a disaster. So, what is the point of balance on this issue. Frankly, I don't know the anwser to that question. -

No, I am not a jealous person. My mother told me that when I was five years old, I would give my toys away to other kids.
I do have other character defects, which I am not going to tell you about, ever. -

One thing you all have to remember, God is on vacation. It is his day off, his day of rest. Now, for the chief executive of the universe, and more in particular, the earth, I don't think he should have taken the day off. The earth is going to hell in a hand basket and God is on vacation and won't do a thing about it.
One thing I don't understand. Why does an all powerful God need a day of rest?
I think he should at least get an answering machine so I can leave a message, and he can call be back when is vacation is over. I hope I am still alive at the time.
My favorite prayer: God is good; God is great. Yay God! -

Personality Types
by breal inrecently i have run into a few people that wanted to discuss this topic.
i believe i am a type a or driver personality although i know it goes alot deeper than this but confused as i took two tests and came out as esfj and isfj.
imho and based on human nature i have felt that people tend to romantisize there own perceived personality type.. i am interested in this from the standpoint that perhaps what we perceive as our personality type may not be how we come accross to others?!

Valis,
Thank you for that reference. I am going to e-mail the reference to my research collegue.
I found an article in Pscyhological Bulleton that shows the test-retest correlation for personality traits over different ages and over different periods of time. From this data I was able to calculate that the average rate of change is 7% per year during childhood, 3 1/2% between the ages of 20 and 50, and 1% for those over the age of 50 (yes, us old geezers are stuck in your ways). As far as I can tell, no one has figured out how to make these calculations before now.
The above information along with related data is in a manuscript, which my friend and I are about to send off to a research journal
