@Farkel: Lol. thanks for that. I guess what I meant is how many do they BELIEVE there are? And how many do they believe should be left. Regardless of individual preferences.

So how many annointed are there and how many supposedly are left?
by stillstuckcruz inmaybe i just don't pay enough attention at meetings, which is a serious possibility.
of the supposed 144,000 thousand jw's that are supposed to go to heaven, how many have there been thus far?
what happens if their number surpasses that 144,000?.

Lead Codices Now Called Fake
by Quendi inwell, that huge sigh of relief we're hearing is from brooklyn.
evidence is mounting that the lead codices found earlier this year which depicted jesus being executed on a cross are fakes.
so jehovah's witnesses can still maintain their assertion that christ was executed on a stake and not a cross for now.

I was very disappointed. I was all ready to shove the yahoo article in my parents face. o well.....I truly wonder what would have happened if they turned out to be authentic...

Is it me or do the JW's act like the Circuit Overseer is Jesus himself?
by stillstuckcruz ini'm sure many have noticed that.
now obviously many more will go out in fs than usual and such because the co brings more "insight" on fs than the usual brothers.
understandable i guess.

But why do the sister's feel the need to wear their BEST clothes and get their hair all fixed up for his visit. The absolute BEST meals are prepared. One sister brings out only the finest china silverwear and they all sat in a room they NEVER sit at for dinner. One CO did mention that this should not be done but of course that advice seemed to go unheard. At our hall, only the best speakers were chosen to give talks that week. I guess to give our congregation some kudos. idk. What things have you noticed?

It's near impossible to understand unless you've been through it yourself. I was born and raised a JW and am still stuck in. Just waiting for the right opportunity to jump ship. I feel your pain :)

JW's have NO right to criticize the destruction of forests
by stillstuckcruz ing90 3/22 pg 8: deforestation is much the same.
humans enjoy the forests, depend on them, in fact.
but they keep killing off the equivalent of the players: the individual species of plants and animals, whose complex interplay is what keeps the forest alive.

@LeavingWT: Interesting link. Very informative. Ok so I suppose the subject deserves a different title. But still undeniably, The WTBS consumes a whole hell of a lot of paper/paper-producing trees.

Lost Legitimate Opportunities For Love
by PublishingCult inwhen you were in the organization of jehovah's witnesses, did you shun legitimate courtship attempts from "worldly" men or women who were otherwise very desirable and suitable because they were non-believers?
.
did you fancy them as well, but tried to get them to study and come into the organization in order to justify the relationship?.

I can't imagine how marrying "only in the Lord" would apply to the Jehovah's Witness religion. I'm SURE that's what the writer was thinking. ...."by extention".

g90 3/22 pg 8: Deforestation is much the same. Humans enjoy the forests, depend on them, in fact. But they keep killing off the equivalent of the players: the individual species of plants and animals, whose complex interplay is what keeps the forest alive. This is more than a game, though. Deforestation affects you. It touches the quality of your life, even if you have never seen a rain forest.
g05 3/8 28-29: In just 13 years, 125 million acres [50 million ha] of forest in Latin America has been destroyed, an area equivalent to all of Central America, says a report published by the United Nations Environment Programme. Brazil saw 57 million acres [23 million ha] damaged, while Mexico lost 16 million acres [6.3 million ha] of forest and had 990,000 acres [400,000 ha] of cultivable soil degraded. Haiti, El Salvador, and the island of St. Lucia lost between 46 and 49 percent of their forests in the same period. These statistics are “horrifying,” says ¿Cómo Ves? a scientific magazine of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and “they are even more so when we think about . . . the hundreds of thousands of plants and animals that have disappeared from our increasingly arid planet.”
And then......
w05 12/1 pg 8: Here machines produce hardcover books and deluxe Bibles at a rate of up to 50,000 copies per day. Book signatures are collated, bound, and trimmed. Covers are then attached. Cartons are slipped over stacks of finished books. The cartons are automatically sealed, labeled, and stacked on a pallet. Additionally, a paperback-book line assembles and packs as many as 100,000 books per day. This too is a world of machinery—countless motors, conveyors, gears, wheels, and belts—all moving at astounding speed to produce Bible literature.
......Not to mention the trash build up in landfills from people throwing their literature away.
So much literature is made in production of the "good news", I can't even imagine how man forests have been destroyed on it's account. But of course, it's their LIFE-SAVING work so that makes it all ok. Everything else the world prints on paper is worthless drivel so that's NOT ok. . Not to mention the trash they produce in landfills when people(witnesses included) throw away their literature daily. I just purged my wardrobe and threw away all these old magazines. When through many trash bags to do so. Thoughts?

Is there anything from the GB that isn't about them getting Money and Power?
by punkofnice insince i woke up from the delusion of the jw cult, i have seen things very differently.. it seems to me that all the gb and their suck ups gear up for is money and/or power.. eg.
brothers in cheap salesman suits on the platform.
the 'clean' image.

It doesn't all seem to be about money. At least to some. Some genuinely believe that it supports the "World Wide Work" plus New KH's, etc etc etc. Idk where the money goes and I don't ask. Though there have been an awful amount of talks lately discussing donations. "Praise Jah with your 'valuable things' ". Yada Yada Yada. Gets tired after a while. I never donate money.

Did you fake a prayer at the dinner table?
by fade_away ini was terrible at prayers.
it was hard for me to talk to someone i can't see or hear.
everyone else put their heads down at the dinner table so i needed to do the same or i'll look suspicious.

I've been faking these prayers for the past 4 or 5 years. When my JW family all bow their heads to make their personal prayers before dinner, I just bow my head and count and just wait a random period of time. I hate praying for the field service group or god forbid, the congregation. I just repeat the same thing every time and steal what other brothers say because I can't think of anything myself.
