i myself was not adopted, however my husband's mother was.
she passed away seven years ago and both of her adoptive parents are gone now as well.
i have always been interested in finding more about her birth family for a couple of reasons.
Believe it or not the Mormons have the best record of finding people. You can call your local Latter Day Saints and ask for the number that will put you in contact with the individuals that find people. I do believe there are also web sites that you can post your information and if any surviving relatives out there can contact you. Good Luck!!!!

Welcome back Flower. I only live about an hour and half south of you. I know all of us thought that Buffalo had some of the best congregations, but down this way it is how ones described them on this board. Controlling, meddling etc. Glad to have ou around. If I had to do it all again I would do the slow fade instead of DA'ing myself. JMO

it's a simple fact.
jw's cannot freely express themselves.
they can't freely tell another about a doubt or a question that they might have for fear they could be exposed to the elders.
Thank you Mr. Kim and I also agree with what you stated in your post. I also beleive that really intelligent individuals do not need to tell you that they are intelligent, unless they really do not feel that they are. JMO

as i was participating in my daily duties of domestic slavery i got to ruminating about my mom, sister and brother who are shunning me (even though i am neither df'd of da'd).
i got to thinking to myself that i don't really miss them all that much.
in fact; i almost feel that i have lost the abundance of love that i once felt for them...well, except for my brother who i have never gotten along with anyway.
I sure miss my family not only for myself, but my children have been raised without their grandparents, cousins etc. In time the pain is less, but for myself if they called me in need I would still assist them. I refuse to become as they are. I am better then that. I have raised my girls to put hate someplace else because if they hate their family, the JW's still have control over them.

my boyfriend (feels more like fiance though i guess as we've talked about but just need the ring) and i have been together over two yrs and living together for over a yr. he never was a jw, and professes to be no religon and isn't even sure god exsists.
is your signifigant other a jw or non-witness?
My husband is a true atheist agnostic. He tells me he is the spawn of Satan. Makes for a fun life together. Especially for me that was raised to believe that everything you think and do is wrong.

Dear Scholar,
Many people on this board have degrees, most of us do not feel the need to post it. It really does not give anyone more credibility because they have had the privilege to go to school. As you know most JW's were never encouraged to further their education. Most of us that have degrees achieved this after leaving this controlling religion.
As far as you being a JW I can not answer that nor do I care. You are welcome here just like everyone else is. Your experiences as a JW seem to be from another planet. I would hope that the JW's you have run into in your life behave as you have described. As a member of a JW family that has roots all the way back to Russell I find this hard to believe. But one can hope that you were fortunate enough in life to run into sincere and caring human beings.

would you change the way you made your exit from the org and if so, how?
I sure wish I had known about his site before I wrote my DA letter. I could have made more of an infomed decision. I realize now that if you don't want to you do not have to play by their rules. I would have faded away slowly and than I would still have my family and my kids would have relatives.
