we have a thread that asks why we became jw's, so i became curious as to why some of us have left.
what was the last straw for you?.
mine was the treatment of my wife.
So many things, so little time.
Basically, once I started examining it, everything flooded in - all the doubts and previous concerns.
The beginning of the end was the 144,000 and 1935 thing, though, followed swiftly by other doctrines.
It's a dangerous thing to read the bible in context, and pity the poor JW who cross-compares it with other translations and the Diaglott/KIT.
well, it's finally over.
last saturday i talked with an elder about how i feel about the wt.
we talked for about 3 hours.

i found this site by accident a couple of weeks ago -- i did not go looking for it, and felt no need for it..... reading the posts, was like entering an old house that i once lived in and was now abandoned -- the issues being discussed were like the furniture of the old house -- covered in dust and the crap of the ages.... but, as i stayed and read on and saw the pain that so many have, i started to think about the process that led us all here.. and my thoughts crystallised -- .
i thought that i 'had' a good life as a witness -- yes i saw many things that i could question, but i accepted that old consolation that is offered when you have doubts - just wait on the lord brother - he will make all things clear in time...!!!.
you know it's really strange that that expression is used so many times -- it leads me to think that so many must have doubts - even if unexpressed!

I will confess to having gone through a fascist period whilst a JW (I was a snotty nosed MS at the time), but that certainly wasn't Christianity, either.

you know the verse that prophecies that the city of tyre will become a 'drying yard for dragnets' and '"never will you be rebuilt" for i myself jehovah have spoken'(ezekial 26:14)?
so how come tyre still exists today?
Tyre may be an antitype of Babylon the Great(funnily enough, that hasn't fallen yet, either).
When the dragnets of Matt.13:47 are hauled in there will be no vessel with JW printed on it's side.

after much deliberation, i decided to go "out" at the end of a public talk.
it didn't go down too well, but at least i was able to give some of my reasons for leaving.. i've put some of the details on my homepage.
