Hello, I'm new here
by daveyJones ini've been raised a witness, and i've been spoon-fed.
all that stuff about 1914, no facial hair, and every other jw teaching that they talk about.
i've been a bit disillusioned lately with the stuff i've found out about the society, with some research of my own and other research from sites or sources like these.

lydia
Celtic,
Love this topic!!!I have certain winereys I love to visit and taste the vintages before I buy! I like the full bodied wines and the light fruity ones too. Desert wines are great - especially the strawberry and blueberry varieties.
I'm no connsesuior (can't spell well either! ) But wine and cheese are a favorite course!Has anyone any choices on Brandys??
I LOVE Asbach Uralt - wonderful stuff!! My husband got me hooked on it - he got hooked when he was stationed in Germany years ago!!
Cheers!

What Is 'Normal' Behaviour? And How Do You ....
by Celtic inattain the definition of what 'normality' is?.
how can i define it?
does the answer fit within a box?
-
lydia
Celtic,
Okay, maybe I'm off my rocker, but you seeing the faerie people lately?? Seriously though.....
I think that being "normal" is being okay with your self...and fixing yourself is something you can do by helping others.. at least that is what has helped me to fix the problems that I have been left with. I do feel that I have benifited by asking the really dumb questions..but thats me...Lydia -

It is NEVER easy to deal with EX's and the horrible way that they use the children to hurt us.. but by doing what you have been being there for her and helping her to realise not everyone gives "conditional Love" is the best you can -
I can remember when my x-mother-in-law told my 8 yr old that the baby I was carring (to my 2nd husband) would be so much more lucky than him as the new child wuld have its Mom and Dad living with it - something he would never have...I was furious at first, but then I turned to him and said -
"OH honey, I'm so glad you told me this - now when the new baby gets upset we shall know why!!"
My son looked at me puzzled - then I said " because they will only have 1 Mom and 1 Dad to Love them.. and you have 2 of each...!"
This satisfied him ( and upset my x-mother-in-Law! )You have done a similar thing - and by explaining in ay she understands is the best thing..
Good Luck in the courts been there before too!Lydia

My boyfriend is a JW
by little_red_birdie ini am just a young teenager, and my first ever boyfriend is a jw!!
at that time i didn't even know what a jw was, no one at school ever really mentioned anything.
i had no idea what i was getting into.

lydia
Red,
I met you mother in chat
- she is a wonderful woman who is very interested in your life
- you are very fortunate to have her.
I bring this up because I know of some who have what I call " conditional Love " parents
- most of these are JW parents...
who will cut you off unless you do what they want you to do
- like be a "GOOD JW" -
Your byfriend will probably see this type of so called "Love" if and when he chooses to leave the BORG.
You haven't mentioned if he hs been baptised... this might be an important for you to find out - it may tell you alot about the amount of influence that his parents andthe BOrg have on him..I hope you keep being his friend - he will need some after he makes his choice.
Please keep posting..

You guys are too suspicious
by Mulan ini posted this on the thread from little_red_birdie, but thought perhaps it deserved it's own thread.. to some of the posters on this thread:.
you guys are just too suspicious.
some teens are so grown up, and have good vocabularies, because their parents talk to them, and they learn how to speak.

How sad and true that our being in the Borg for any time has us suspicious of all
- think about how Little-red-bird must feel -
I had a chance to speak with her mother
- she is a 14 yr old!
We need to remember that we are all here to help
- not criticize -
lets Leave that to the BORG
- they do enough harm to our young ones!I too married an older gentleman ( not a JW) who I can relate to because of my education and maturity.
I love to read and my vocabulary reflects this...
so I am often taken as someone who is much older...
which is frustrating to me..
but its been this way since I was 12...
and now that I'm in my 30's - well its frustrating for other reasons...
I hope that we can all try to remember to take what we are told and not be suspicious ... lets get rid of that DUB trait! -

How Women are treated in the WTS - from the Awake!
by hawkaw inbelow is a scanned article from the august 22, 1967 awake!

metatron brought this subject up a few months ago and someone was nice enough to give me the actual article.

To think that they feel they give women a good shake - what a bunch of white washed tombs!
Just think of what would happen to the precious BORG if the women stopped going out in service- concidering in my area it was almost an assignment to have a Brother there to do the leadout each morning for service - often they would set up the car groups and give prayer then leave for work or some other thing....Funny there is always more women in most congregations too - yet they talk so down about them... Wonder if Paul had a bad love experience that left him so bitter towards our fairer sex????
