i just came accross this on mr unthank's personal site: http://stevenunthank.wordpress.com/monies/i recently read something where the wts is, let's just say connected, to various institutions/companies to wield/get their way.....is this one or just coincidence?

This really isn't a case where a private citizen would "use a lawyer," as if it was a civil case. It is a criminal case, and a prosecution is underway. In Australia one way a criminal case can be brought to court is for a private citizen to do the investigative work, at his own expense, and take his evidence to court. Steven Unthank has done this.

Plus only one case appears to be in motion and still the police have not made any charges against the Traralgon congregation - this speaks volumes.

One case, against the Traralgon congregation? Hardly. Five separate Watchtower entities are involved here (all itemized several times in this forum) that are charged with 7 criminal counts each. That's a total of 35 criminal charges that Unthank has been successful in bringing against the Watchtower Society. There have been 4 court appearances to date, and all 35 criminal charges are still in place at this time.

I'm not saying Mr Unthank is being dishonest but I will say he is being very naive and he appears to be unable to interpret what is required legally - this is understandable as he does not have legal training.

In reality his work has been amazing. He has done what very few have done. His interpretation of the law has been exemplary.

Mr Unthank please let the state prosecutor take on the case without strings attached.

"...let the state prosecutor take on the case???" That is exactly what he has been trying to do for months now, and he will be delighted and relieved if they do.

Are you sure you have all the facts about what's been going on? Your take on the case seems to be a little skewed.

background: on july 26, 2011, the entire worldwide religious and corporate hierarchy of jehovahs witnesses was charged in the magistrates court of victoria, australia, with 35 serious criminal breaches of the states mandatory child protection laws (working with children act 2005).

among the legal entities charged were the watch tower bible and tract society of pennsylvania and the governing body of jehovahs witnesses.

Perhaps this is a time we will have to look at the positives of this (Rawe and Unthank), and try to ignore the nagative (Fearon).

Rick's reputation isn't the best, but his show is well known and listened to by many. What other outlet is there that could bring as many listeners?

I would prefer to hear this on NBC News Dateline, but listening to Steven Unthank on Rick's show is better than not listening to him at all.

Hopefully the big media outlets will give this some attention in the future when there is more of a solid story to report on. Now is still kind of early, since Watchtower might be able to wiggle out of this. Hopefully not.

for those that have not heard about mr.mark berndt, a. third- grade teacher who is charged with committing.

lewd acts on 23 boys and girls 6 to 10 between 2005. and 2010 where he taught for more than 30 years.. a game was played were he would blind-fold the kids.

and give the kids (sick) a spoon with his semen.

Another day, another apostate. Here's my story.

been lurking for a bit, and feel safe enough now to tell my story (condensed).. i'm a third-generation born-in, but my parents were inactive for most of my upbringing.

this means i got the worst of both worlds--no worldly friends (home schooled all but grades 2-3), no witness friends (since we never went to the hall except for memorial), and a generally isolated upbringing in a tiny, tiny town.

needless to say, my emotional, social, and personal growth were stunted.

Welcome I Want, and thank you for an excellent read; it was enjoyable.

You hit on a few points that really brought back some memories. You said,

Oh how I remember those burn out days. Like you I became a MS very quickly. I spent gobs of time in the field ministry, often working alone. After a few years, I began to feel ill when in service. Finally, one day it hit me hard; I was nauseated. I leaned over at the curb and vomited. I wasn't reallly sick at all; the 'sick' feeling had been building for some time when I went in service. That was the end of my days of putting massive amounts of time into the door-to-door work. At first I worried that there was something wrong with me, but now it's clear that I had burned out from doing something that was unproductive and meaningless. My body had finally rebelled. I wish my mind had responded at the same time because I would have left the organization much sooner than I did.

You also said,

- "I've realized "worldly" people aren't evil.

- My disposition has never been better.

- I actually care about others now."

Ditto to all of the above. Getting free of the depressing restaints and the constant feeding of controlled information has been liberating and has allowed my real personality to surface.

Thanks again for the great post. It's a solid reminder of things I had forgotten, and provides sound reasons to never return to the Watchtower.

Suicide - How many do you know within the JWs

one interesting but truly tragic is the number of jwhovah's witnesses who commit suicie.. now i suspect that if a person commits suicide shortly before or after they are disfellowshipped then the elders would say that person wasn't a witness or that they had done something so terrible that they were too guilty to admit it and by their action of committing suicide they pretty much declared they were no longer a jw.. yup fancy talk to make sure any crap didn't fall on them.. so my question.. do you know of cases like this?

if so then can you answer a few more questions.. had this person been dfed or in real danger of being dfed or whatever the equivalent is if they were never baptized?.

I have known of 4 or 5 suicides or attempted suicieds...(at least one failed). By comparrison, I can think of only 1 non-Witness.

Got Disfellowshipped!

well, i was disfellowshipped about 2 weeks ago.

i was in it for ten years and it was 9 years and 11 months too long.

i honestly don't know why it took me so long to do my research on this organization.

this organization has turned something as intimate and personal as one's relationship with God into some burdensome, cold, depressing and frustrating. Time to go!
