  well, i'm finally reading coc, and i must tell you that despite already being an ex-dub i was *shocked*.

  the thing that got me was the gb's apparently unselfconsciously acting above all the rules that they would apply so harshly to everyone else.

  maybe i'm naive, but i didn't expect that level of hypocrisy.. so what did you find most shocking in coc?

  One - thanks for responding,

  Specifically, I have issues with the nature of God, the fall of man and free will, the concept of a ransom sacrifice. These are what I call macro issues, as I do not have to do much research into things such as dates etc. I had these issues before even hearing about this board, Ray Franz or any other doctinal issues.

  While Ray's book has been of help to others, who accept the macro explanations, for me personally I decided I was OUT without reading anything. Please don't think I am critical of Ray, his work or anything like that...how can I be critical of something I havent read? Sure, I know of some of the issues he raises from reading threads here etc, but all that does is dig a deeper hole for the JW's. I have rejected dub-dom already. Once I had done that I cannot reject them any further....gone means gone!!

  I am more interested in the pursuit of happiness and the pursuit of freedom. While I am still able to be relatively happy and feel free being on the board I will. When I feel happiness and freedom must take me somewhere else I will go there.

  Question about Accuracy & Persuasion

  in my social psychology class, we are studying a chapter on persuasion.

  here is an interesting excerpt from our study book, "social psychology: unraveling the mystery" by douglas kenrick, steven neuberg, and robert cialdini, page 171. please tell me if you think it applies to jws, ex-jws, and this board in general.. .

  p. 170, "done deals".

  Troubled,

  Cialdini is the biggest genius in the profession right now.

  Study his work.....look at how the influence factors are applied in advertising, religion and politics. The look at the JW's.....

  Others credit Ray Franz for opening their eyes...I credit Cialdini...his work completely changed the way I see the world. I cannot ever look at it like a sheep again. I mean this very sincerely.

  i have had several people on this board request that i show the softer side of who i am as a person -- as well as share my feelings in regards to the divorce my husband and i are about to go through.

  i have used the forum (past tense) as an outlet for stress.

  i think i met my husband for a reason.

  I have no desire to read the book or any other apostate literature or JW literature.

  I reached my own conclusions about ALL religion. Religion is sanctioned insanity. If the macro issues are flawed why even bother with any details.
