i got a couple of lurkers emailing to me at the moment!.
anyway.... one of them has a question and we need the input of a boffin like alan f, or jt.. elderly lady, just got df,after 40 years of service, wants to know, now shes df, will the org still take her money that shes bequeathed to them in her will.?.
does she need to change her will to prevent the org from gettings its clammy claws on her bucks.?.
Just renaming the title for JT. His post, from a serious "insider viewpoint" is and should be a real eye-opener.

i posted recently about how i attended a humanist funeral for my pal knocker john.
no prayers, no hymns, just a natural goodbye that, in itself, contained a healing element that somewhat counteracted our feelings of grief.. then i think back to the funeral of my dad in the 80s.
it was, quite simply, nothing more than a commercial for the witness religion.
MarchOn,
I will shorten my comments:
Usually the funeral home doesn't "collect it's gear" for a short pe-riod. Pay the funeral home to leave it up, if you have to. Come back the second day with a funeral director and have him start a NON-DENOMINATIONAL SERVICE. You or friends or other relatives can join in, if you feel like it. They are YOUR family and they aren't OWNED by WTS and neither are you.
Actually, if you felt like having a DENOMINATIONAL SERVICE, it is sim-ply a matter of arrangements. Surviving JW relative's could disagree, but then a NON-DENOMINATIONAL SERVICE would be the way to go. If disagreement is not an issue, then that is what family fusses are for.

E-Man,
Many of us are in he same boat. I have been expecting that 'phone-call in the middle of the night' for years. I went as far as telling my brother to wait until morning, so I would at least have an undisturbed nights rest to take the bad news on.
So, some months ago, I noticed an EMAIL at about midnight: the Old Man had suffered an extremely life threatening crisis and was in the hospital. Well, he made a miracle recovery, practically perfect in fact.
The Old Man is similar to OUTLAW's mother, but I suspect he is meaner.
I'm sure the recovery was fueled by pure meanness. Another story(ies), for another time.
Anyway, I told my brother that 'I can't hack' (American idiom for CAN'T STAND, WILL PUKE) another JW funeral. (As far as the JW funeral goes, I hope the Elder he has been feuding with for forty years does the service.)
My brother suggested feigning travel delays or just plain showing up late. I had been considering showing up on time, spending the day with my best friend and going to the grave site the next day with selected friends and relatives.
As an afterthought, I thought about engaging some nondenominational minister to say some words. This way, I wouldn't get the JW commercial and I or others could say what we felt. However, I believe that the thing to do is to get a funeral director to do this.
He is sure to say "...the grave and the sea gave up their dead in the sure hope of a resurrection..." or such. At the moment, that old and 'canned' funeral service that ship captains perform would be preferred to a JW service. At any rate, we should be able to dictate what is said, supplying a script if necessary.
Frankly, the JW's have to have CONTROL and orchestrate things such that no one says anything they don't expect or CONDONE/ENDORSE. I noticed the PO at my mothers funeral went around and asked all of us what we would like to have said. I do believe that they do this on purpose to keep surprises from happening. This eliminates spontaneity and perhaps some of the closure that expression of grief might need.
For that reason, I feel JW's are the last people that should ever preach a funeral.
Well, there are some options. Also, I believe there are some custom-ers and a potential market out there for OUTLAW's (The Funeral Direc-tor) services in certain circles.

at one time, this board seemed to be fair.
but i no longer think that it is, to jws, at least.
ex-jws here can cuss, insult, say fu to everybody they don't like, and call jws pedophiles.
I’m not sure you are going to get very many welcomes to the board, comforter. But you have started in grand style.
BTW, the entire JW experience is an adversarial one. They say they are to break up families (yup, they quote the Bible on this) and this is to be expected. (Self-fulfilling prophecy? Maybe the only one they got right!!)
They expect and look forward to persecution. Then they aggravate everybody they come in contact with beyond belief. (Something they deserve comes back to them; Wow, another self-fulfilling prophecy. Go figure. Oops, they have gotten a few scores!!!)
And you thought this was a garden party!!! What should you expect but a FIREFIGHT??? Get a brain!!!
Sorry to disappoint you, but I am working on swearing off cussing.
LOL @ OUTLAW: that was first rate choice!!!

although the actual recording of the bill bowen/wt telephone conversation may not in itself be illegal in either the state of kentucky or new york, the broadcast of it on national television across the united states may be subject to other legalites.
one legality could be the fact that the broadcast of the recorded telephone conversation crossed many state lines, into states where secretly recording telephone conversations in any way is illegal.
or into a state where the broadcast of a secretly recorded telephone conversation it illegal.. also, if clips of the conversation were played out of context or in such an order so as to misrepresent the facts of the actual conversation, that may also be subject to legalites.. this all varies from state to state.
It's simple: NBC has done all this before. They have reviewed phone laws more times than we can count. They are confronted with this choice DAILY. And NBC has taken on state and FEDERAL governments when they were in the wrong. They are pro's & took their time.
WTS has more to lose on going active public on this. They are in their normal mode: stonewall, say next to nothing, hunker down & ride it out. They function best in the DARKNESS created by the absence of public glare.
That is because WTS figures it is just a one-time event. They can ride those out, but what about the next batch of events?

jehovahs-witness.com costs uk business millions .
the discussion forum jehovahs-witness.com known as "jwd" may diminish corporate productivity and network bandwidth, and be ultimately costing businesses a conservative 5,000,000 a week due to employees watching the 24-hour hot debate, flame wars and meaningless fluff through their workplace networks.. an independent study recently discovered that more than 2 million unique visitors hit the "ex-witness" site during the last week, with huge surges in visitors occurring sporadically.
it is estimated the multi-million pound figure based on the average visitor spending 15 minutes per visit.
A genuine study or a self-serving commercial by a sensationalist
software vendor?
Look at the ulterior motives of this critter: it seems that these people are little better than the worst of the used-car sales types.
Is this not 'sales by terror'?

the following is a post dealing with dateline and pedophilia in the borg.
i predict that the guy who wrote this post may show up here one day before too long.
get a load of this:.
"Persecution has to have some reason...political or otherwise. "
It's not persecution to be ostracized or punished for YOUR OWN MISDEEDS. It is plain and simple justice. And if it is meted out by the 'authority', it is also scriptural.
I've been expecting a cry of 'persecution' over some of their own 'dirt' coming out in the open. Frankly, it doesn't count.

my parents are convinced that yhwh appears in the original greek text, and therefore christendom is wrong for deleting the name "jehovah" from its bibles.
i know this is wrong, because obviously the tetragrammaton is hebrew, but i would like to find a website that goes into detail on what the actual greek words are that the jws have translated into jehovah.. thanks in advance!
I can't verify this because I don't have a copy. But someone I
know who was holding a 'family Bible Study' told me that the Kingdom Interlinear's introduction has a candid comment on this. They read the INTRODUCTION, paragraph by paragraph, in typical Bible Study fashion. I understand it is unsettling to the stereotyped JW view and is straight from the "horse's anatomy".

so did any of you catch the dateline snippet with the letter being read?.
jr brown stated, "it is possible out of the 77,799 elders in the usa that a few of them did not follow directions.".
ain't that a shock, jr pinning on those damned untrained volunteers again?.
