They'll open MS and eventually elder to women. It will take a while, but in my opinion it is inevitable

American Primeval and the Mormons
by Simon injust finished season 1 on netflix.. holy crap, i had no idea of the history of the mormons!.
i always thought they were like the jws, or the quakers, but they were full on fascists committing massacres.. i'm sure they are hating having more people be aware of their past, but i gotta say, it is more event-filled than the jw history..

If it wasn't for Knorr taking the religion to the world
A good observation. Knorr was more of a businessman than a theologian or religious leader. Seems like he thought of the JW religion like it was a multi-national business. It wan't a coincidence that they created Gilead and started sending out missionaries within just a year or two of his taking the presidency of the WT

I think a lot of it has to do with the closing/sale of Kingdom Halls, making people drive an hour or more to meetings. Makes no sense to the average JW, especially where they donated their own hard earned money to build the damn things in the first place.
I don't see going back to private homes, at least in the US, due to liability/zoning/parking/ADA issues.

My Beliefs After Leaving the Watchtower
by KalebOutWest ini tend to keep my personal beliefs separate from my posts.. i know that is often different from others as their posts as often one and the same with their opinions.
i think that is good.
you get to learn a lot about people that way.

Maybe there’s nothing that can be done to mitigate this type of disaster, but I could see changes in laws/ fire prevention. Minimum limits on reservoirs, fire breaks, controlled burns, construction materials, etc. -

2024 Annual Meeting Doctrinal Change
by Listener ina change to their doctrine came from jackson.
this isn't a transcript of his whole speech but i thought i would try and get some of his main speech in writing.. at around 1hr26 minutes he starts talking about some dangerous thinking in feeling there is some wiggle room in regards to the schedule for the gt.
but you see, we need to be careful about what we are thinking about the number of anointed ones left on earth.

It is ironic that they discourage college, but need money. The ones with education and good jobs are the ones who have money to donate. It’s an inherent contradiction. The LDS figured it out long ago, but the WT just doesn’t get it

WT HQ is never proactive, they are reactive to everything put out showing their blatant hypocrisy and abject stupidity
by WingCommander ina few on here (and of course many on the ex-jw reddit forum) have mentioned that wt hq just recently (like in the past couple months) put out a video warning against the praising of jw actors, taking photos with them, etc.
to not do it anymore.
it was narrated by geoffrey jackson.

The Curious Case of Cameroon in Africa in the World Report
by LaFrancia inwe know that in africa warwick/watchtower is adopting a policy of more congregations with fewer publishers in each congregation.
this explains the growth of congregations in the 2024 world report.. cameroon world report 2019 vs. 2024.. with the same number of publishers the congregations grew by about 13%.. will there be many more curious cases out there?.

It could be that they are mostly newly converted and there weren’t enough elders to make the extra congregations.

The number of people self-identifying as JWs, which is what is reflected in census data, exceeds the number of people who are click-the-box publishers. There are loads of people out there who come only to the Memorial, but are former publishers/ family no longer actively associating who probably consider themselves JWs and self-identify as such.
I think an argument can be made that the life cycle of the JW religion in a given country goes through a demonstrable process occurring over several generations.
1) First generation of believers commit to the lifestyle and are relatively successful in raising their children in the same faith. (high growth rates, 1950's through '80s in the US) (I realize the religion had a long history before the 1950s, but it went through a re-invention post-Rutherford, in my opinion)
2) Second generation commit at first, but by the time they are in early middle age and having to raise their own children, stay in nominally but realize they are screwed and are glad to see their kids decide on their own to leave.(still showing growth, 90's through 2010's)
3) Third generation is just hanging around and are non-committal, though they still may self-identify and show up to memorial to appease grandparents and parents. (2010's until present, stagnation)
The US is in stage 3. Some of the African nations like Congo and Nigeria are still in stage 1, hence the vibrant growth. Japan is entering stage 3, Mexico is in stage 2 heading into 3.
Where stage 4 will lead us in coming years I don't know.

How are new Servants and Elders appointed?
by no-zombie innow that we have the tick-a-box field service reporting method, how are brothers measured fit for an appointment as a ms or elder?
has there been clarification in any of the recent elders schools or in meetings with the co?.

I think there was a change in the last few years about how they are appointed.
Previously: CO's meeting with elders consider a candidate and the CO makes a recommendation to the WT branch. The candidate is appointed after receiving the approval from the branch.
Now: CO's meeting with elders consider a candidate and the CO makes the final decision and appointment. The branch is not part of the decision. The servant is appointed almost immediately.
Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think this change is pretty recent (in the last few years)
