i hate people's constant open hand for money, it's the weak individuals asking others to pull their weight.

This is a sad thread. I have seen SOOO many sisters lives ruined. Ones with brains, education and spunk are frequently shunned by the JW men or handled as "not exemplary" by the Elder body.
If they are attractive some of the nervous JW wives never invite them to dinner or parties NEAR married men. If they are smart or educated many JW men feel intimidated or even consider them a "jezabel" influence.
If a single brother just wants to socialize, grab a burger or a movie the hall looks for a marriage proposal. WAY too much pressure for a light breezy "date" or innocent socialization.
In the work world I have female co-workers, bosses, Clients, vendors...it is NEVER weird like it was Dating or being single in JW land.

I have met older people who hated JWs...usually older people from Rutherfords day who had been exposed to Newspaper headlines, picketing (information marches),radio, and soundcars. A few hate JWs who were married to one, robbed, etc.
In the last 20 years I have met NO one under 45 who knows much of anything about JWs...or cares. When living in different areas of the USA, I noticed more and more the territories are worked mid-week by "pioneers and die hards"(when no one is home), the NHs are worked mid-week (when no one is home), and the final 3rd try is a Saturday quick doorbell ring by the donut shop crowd. Even when I WAS a JW (and happed to be home on SAT ) I couldn't get to the front door FAST ENOUGH to answer it before they had left the neighborhood for the coffee shop.
REPEAT..... ONE YEAR LATER

JW's on Christmas Day
by Jim_TX inmy wife, my m-i-l and i were driving over to my wife's aunt's home on christmas day to celebrate christmas - which involved letting the aunt's great-great-grandkids open their presents, and eating an early supper (or late lunch).. we were on the way at around 10:30am to 11:00am to the house.
about a couple of miles away, whilst driving through the neighborhood, i spotted a couple of middle-aged young women wearing skirts down to their ankles, and carrying large handbags (aka 'bookbags').
they were between houses, and walking slowly... pioneer stroll?....

Always seemed like a "loyalty test" to me by some to see WHO went out in service. As an Elder, some A-hole Elder would always try to rope me into pushing it for our bookstudy group...NOT.
Tried to get out of town for a week whenever possible and avoid JWs, neighbors, and co-workers. (LOTS of JW groups in California at Ski resorts and the beach on holidays).

I have been watching what happens with Google SEO when posting published NEWSPAPER Stories on JWN. The traffic from this site pumps up the newspapers readership, then the Google ranking for the article, and also pings google alerts, sometimes alerting back to the JWN post. Like an old pinball machine...ding ding ding....
Sooooo now if we all remember to ADD "JW.org", or "Watchtower Bible and Tract", or "Jehovah" to New Topic headlines...we will assist thousands of active JWs to become Heritics (I prefer to Apostate).
You never know WHICH STRAW is the one to break the camels back.

Long Term Effect of Conti & Similar Cases?
by Chaserious ini was commenting in another thread this morning and saw speculation that the conti verdict will hasten the wts' decline, beyond just the money they may have to pay in that case itself.
i have seen this mentioned a number of times and it got me thinking and doing a bit of research.
i think the speculation and hope is that it will give rise to similar lawsuits which will meet with similar success.

I Think the internet is making a HUGE difference.
Years ago even with family and friends in Bethel (even legal) I had very little knowledge of the degree of problems in the borg. I thought my area was unique somehow.
Of course some will never be swayed no matter what they learn of hear. Some people are die hard KKK members, others believe in Vodoo, and various odd beliefs. There will always be a few Watchtower adherants...the annual intrest $$ from over a Billion dollars will support the hardcore at the upstate compound for many many years.

With some of the more recent kooky "hate" Watchtowers and high profile pedophile cases I bet there is again.
