  Don't want to stumble anyone!

  did you have narrow minded turds as elders/overseers in your congregation?

  yup so did i...they're everwhere.. "there was this one time..at band camp"....it was in a hired hall actually...where we used to organise congregation functions like farewells etc.

  this usually consisted of food...non alcoholic beverages...and some entertainment...usually square dancing and some skits...and a presentation or speech.. at one function a particular elder was offended that the 'gay gordon' was one of the dances for the evening...so he promptly left...yup...at the next function it was renamed the 'happy gordon'...as his conscience wouldn't allow him to attend otherwise.

  Stumbling.....Yeah stumbling....

  Another catch phrase JWs use to exert complete control over everything you say or do. I once went to a formal gathering a single pioneer sister had organized. Everyone who went was asked to pay a fee to defray some of the cost for setting up what turned out to be a great evening gathering. A week later I was called by that sister and she asked me if I wanted my money back at which point I declined and thanked her for organizing such a nice evening. I often wonder how many people actually took their money back thereby putting that sister in a financial bind. It seems that someone was "stumbled" because they thought it was inappropriate that only those with the financial means could attend and how those without the money were left out in the cold. I think it was more likely that this was initiated by someone who did or did not go but felt that a night of expensive entertainment was somehow due them for free. This was the very last time I'd heard from that sister. Apparently the Elder Police, who attended the gathering BTW, saw fit after to come down on her for "stumbling" others.

  Just another of one of the many reasons I left the borg. Tired of the constant guilt tripping and the walking on eggshells around everyone so as not to "stumble" and be "bloodguilty".

  Correlation

  does anyone here think there is any correlation between the abrupt departure from wt and awake subscription services and the march and april shepherding calls to the possibly millions that have gone inactive in the past few years?

  the few years i spend as a dub, i don't remember any such activity directed solely inactives.

  does anyone else see this as a vain attempt at the wtbts to get people back into khs for their usual dosages of guilt tripping and admonitions of loyalty to the organization?

  yes, im sick!

  my father willingly allowed himself to be reabsorbed by the borg!.

  during the time he was dfd and separated from my mother (church lady) i tried to help him see through to the real colors of the organization.. he has not one spiritual bone in his body and never has.. he really didnt want to discuss it.. i was concerned because i knew that between the organization and my mom he just believed he was a bad person who would be destroyed at armageddon.

  Ahhhh...the old "guilt trip" encouragement....again, the hallmark of being a dub. I know and heard it well. You can alway do more in service, prepare the study material more, personal bible study more, reach out for more "privileges".......it goes on and on and on.............

  I don't want to flame you here and I apologize in advance if you take offense but the WT since it's inception has made so many mistakes and false predictions to the detriment of it's membership that the GB should have the distinct taste in their mouth of shoe leather. To the critical eye, the WT is as guilty and complicit in false doctrines,class distinctions, and government duplicity as any other religious organization they're compared to and not once have they ever acknowledged that they've made a mistake. Those who try holding the WT's feet to the fire are quickly accused of running ahead of the organization, apostasy, and are quickly DF'd to protect the supposedly "spiritual health" of the organization. In every case I've come across, WT mistakes are explained away as "new light", of no great concern, an unwillingness of the member to wait on Jehovah, or the blame is place upon the r\f for misunderstanding the "fine spiritual food from the slave class." I don't understnad how it could be misunderstood when all the questions and readings are leading in nature culminating to the exact conclusions the WT want you to believe.

  i have gone round and round with my wife about jws and disfellowshipping.

  our marriage, which wasn't so hot for the last year, is pretty well shot now.

  i try to explain to her that being dfed for simply disagreeing with the wt is offensive to me.

  My wife's the same way except that when pushed outside her comfort zone, the defenses come up, then come the lame duck canned excuses they've been programmed to give. And when that doesn't work, then you're accused of nitpicking the organization to which I reply, it should be nitpicked when the stakes are so high. I constantly tell her that if it's truly the truth, then it should be able to withstand at least a modest amount of scrutiny without the elder police coming down on you. It almost impossible to have a rational conversation with JW's even when you can see it in their eyes that they know you're right.

  I'm thinking of dropping a morsel of information about the WTS\UN thing just to see how it flies. I'm guessing that my still JW relatives don't even know anything about it. I know I'll be sure to get an eventual elder call about that one.

  Been there and done that with my wife too. But I'm met with silence when I point out the fact that what the WTBTS print out is mostly hypothetical, misleading, propaganda that perpetuates their view that they are the sole channel of communication to God worthy of absolute and unquestioned loyalty, and that if you strip away the doctrinal bullsh**, it's nothing more than a Real Estate and Publishing empire built upon the biggest probably most successful pyramid scheme ever imagined.

  i noticed the 'main' part of the board is now called 'friends'.. didn't the witnesses use to refer to each other as 'the friends'?.

  maybe we ought to change it to 'ren.dez.vous brothers and sisters'?.

  If that happens, I'm outta here. The few years I was in gave me enough of that crap to last a lifetime. I still cringe when JW acquaintances come up to me saying "Hi Brother ........."

  Single at 40 .JW virgins.

  come on admit it, if you were brought up a witness you were dead scared that you were going to end up like the men you saw prowling the assembles and congregations looking for wives.. there would always be men and women in there 30's and 40 who had never had a boy or girl friend.. i used to know quite a few.. the horror of their lives shocks me.. now i not dissing anyone who has chosen not to marry that is their choice.but these people i know want to meet someone and get married.. but the bad news is that the older they get the harder it is to find a wife .what makes it worse is that the choice is so limited.. many of these grown men are even affraid of women .

  why?.

  because they are taught that even to look at a woman is to commit imorality let alone talk to one.. i knew a brother who had never had a girl friend , he was about 26 at the time.now a sister asks to go out with him so he accepts.quite soon she wants to hold his hand.. this brother now tells her off, for in the family book it says holding hands is only for people who are going to get married.. he doesn't go out with such a spiritually weak sister again.. what has the socity done to these peoples lives.. many people who were once happy teenagers hoping to meet the wife or husband of their dreams are now approaching 40 or even older and have never even had a girlfriend.theri only hope is the new system and i don't want to breack the news to them but its not coming.

  I remember when I was a dub in the congregation how the young people were almost ritualistically paired up with each other in the hall by their parents and elders. One elders son, who was already once divorced, was paired up with a young sister fresh out of school. It was almost comical in that other than the "trooth" they had absolutely nothing in common. I last saw them at a local event in town with a newborn. While talking to them I got the feeling that they were NOT happy with each other at the time. Last I heard, they were on their way to getting divorced.

  It appears to me most of them marry young to legitimize having sex more than anything else. Better to be tied to an overbearing, egotistical, JW company man than an "worldly".

  And these same people will look condescendingly down their nose at you if you tell them you haven't been making meetings or is inactive.
