The Enormous Price of Lack of Faith

trusting god is far more than merely believing he exists.. i just this evening watched a senate session on cspan on the subject of delaying deciding on preemptive strikes against iraq.

it was very interesting to see how lack of trust in god causes irrational fear that people will be willing to sacrafice all their wealth, their comforts, and even the lives of their children.

without the belief that god exists and that spiritual forces exist there is hopelessness.

This is going to be an a-holish comment so don't give it too much thought.

Remove the hostile arab governments and set up democracy based ones so all this shit can be over with because GOD ain't doing a damn thing. If any others want to f-with our country they know whats going to happen to them and they should know to keep to themselves.

The other option is to basically kill them all and have those involved divy up the oil fields.

I prefer the first.

My faith is in civilized countries who will "protect" the rest of the world. Miracles were evident in Jesus' time and before. I don't have faith in someone who can't even show the world the smallest thing in the last 2000 years to make us believe in him.

Confusion!!!

i grew up in the 'truth'.

about 4 years ago my parents divorced.

I hear you with the guilt thing. I had that for 10 years and only in the last few months stopped feeling guilty and supressing the fact I may die at Armogeddon.

Once you do some digging, even if you think they still have some true doctrines, you'll see how the headquarters operates you'll think twice about this cult. It's nice to have a bunch of friends who think the same way you do but having friends who are honest with you and will give differing opinions about things is more benificial to rounding out your personality.

JWs are a bunch of robots, as you see many refer to them as the borg (from Star Treck if for some crazy reason you don't know)....they don't think for themselves and can never disagree with the governing body. They are programmed and assimilated. They are uncaring to any not a part of their cult and deep down they only want to make you a part of it.

They rule by fear and guilt - you have both because of them...is that how you want to live? College will open your eyes to LIFE. Also I recomend joining a fraternity/sorority. From my college experience it is far better to go through college this way than being a "dormie". You'll learn responsibility, how to handle authority, and meet life long friends.

My 2cents

I have to agree local matters. My families factory in OH has mainly older people working in it - ie: ones who grew up when segragation was still active. The "N" word is used all too often and for a general description of anyone black. That makes me sick. Cali and NY are way more integrated than the rest of the country and it shows. I think you see a large decrease in racisism in younger people because we never lived through segragation.

I'm jealous of mixed (black/white) and hispanic people. It would be nice to not have to go to the tanning bed

My 84 year old grandmother says, "you don't see a blue jay mating with a robin..." I tell her, "they're both birds aren't they?" Unless you live in the "south" and "plains" states, mixed couples are not an odd sight.

I have a frat bro who lives in Sacramento - god I would love to live out there, it is so beautiful. It would be nice to quit getting my rims smashed from potholes and constant road construction also.

I find it amazing that JWs can say there are not prejudice when they hate anyone who's not a JW............. Well I guess they hate any color of person if they're not JW........maybe they aren't

J Mascis from "Dinosaur JR" is an amazing guatarist - it's progressive/alternative music

George Lynch from DOKKEN - later Lynch Mob - is amazing as well.

From my near 800 CD collection those are the 2 that really stand out to me.

I won't comment on 70's guitarists because I don't listen to that.

I just saw David Mustane from Megadeath - he's great as well though their last 2 CDs have sucked IMO.

Please don't take my word for gospel.

Since it is only a short time period between leaving and possible visable knowledge that you no longer are a JW........chime in guys/gals I know some but others know a lot more.

It's going to be hard to show you are a "former member" and cannot be shunned (JW.org - select media - search "shun" - "former members are not shunned". For me it's been ten years so I'm not sure you can use that one.

I suppose you can try to hard ball 'em and insist you are not one of Jehovah's Witnesses (bring 2 witnesses who agree that you are not a JW, work mates other family) If your friends/associates have no problem with lying in your behalf (Theocratic Warfare back in their direction) have them say you've felt this way for quite a few years.....? not sure just a suggestion.

Good Luck - Or if you can handle being around your 2 cousins than just tell them you have nothing to discuss with them.

I'm not really sure what you are trying to get at with this post.

Do you think the world will be so controlled that we'll have barcods tatooed on our necks? That JWs should be no part of governmental regulation and identification like retna scanning or other means to identify people? I did see the point about bar scanning for a set price in supermarkets. From a companies standpoint and from someone who doesn't like to be cheated it's a good idea. You can switch price tags on products if it were not for barcoding.

Please clarify.

If you only have 2 cousins in the troof and you only see them 2 times a year, and the rest of your family are not JWs then they will be the ones who feel uncomfortable at family gatherings.

I say do not DA yourself. That's playing by their rules. The elders who call may indeed "care" about you but in the end it's either you ARE a JW or you are NOT a JW. Just keep dodging their visits - change your phone number (I don't think that is too hard).

If they say, "we really are concerned and need to meet with you", thank them for their concern and say at this time I have too many things going with my family to spend an evening with you. They will try many ways to get you to have them come over...just keep declining, dodging, after awile they will find someone else to bother.

Glad you have seen the hypocracy! Bless you and your family for your decision, especially your children who get to have a normal life.

Very nicely written. I applaud you for your courage. I myself tend to hold back at family gatherings to not ruffle feathers. SCREW THAT! I'm allowed to believe what I want and I'm not gona bite my toungue anymore when they go on one of their, "you'd never find that in Jehovah's Organization", or when they start ripping on and making fun of holidays.

Hmmm let me see.....I'd say 95% of the JWs who marry under the age of...lets say 20-25, is for sex only. So marriage is not the best solution for their problem. Having sex and getting reproved would be the best solution.

Not only does the WTS support prejudice in condemming everyone but JWs now they're biggots! AMAZING!
