Dansk...I used to think there were genetic bounderies that mirror our arbitrary classification called Genus or "kind" in Bible terms. This is simply not the case. Evolution is as you recognize observable in the abundance of species. The brain seems to deny the possibility that species are a new type of animal rather than simply a variation. The process of adaptation thru decent with modification does not have brakes at the genetic level. It is only our mind's system of recognition and classification that creates these imaginary parameters. It requires we see beyond the outward appearance and see the biology at work to accept this counterintuitive fact.

Made from Monkeys or from Dirt
by Satanus inthe bible states mankind was made by god from plain old dirt.
science however, has shown that we are in the nieghborhood of 98% monkey (chimpanzee).
was god lazy, in that he didn't start from scratch in making people, but used animal parts to assemble the human body?

I could not assume to offer direction in this matter. The acts are that a JW married to an "unbeliever" is the most pittied nd popular person at the Hall. Every meeting they are reminded that you are an enemy of God and doomed to destruction at the imminent battle of Armagedon. The JW will at first attempt to convert you even trying the patient example aproach. But in time or when you are resolute enough for him to see this is futile he will begin the self pity and martyr phase. You will never feel close to each other with this wall between you. I myself and others when teaching the congrgation refered to being married to an unbeliever as being tied to a dead body. You will be a dead body to him unless you share with him what you are learning here at this site in a loving and sincere manner.

SS....Why humans and apes evolved differently from a common ancestor is of course the very premise of evolution. The combination of genetic drift and natural selection. There is no mytery about why it happened, tho there will likely always be some debate about the specific environmental presssures. Gould I believe used the expression "contingency" to describe the unique and irrepeatable influences upon each organism at any given time that determines the success or failure of a body plan.
As a "recent" example the bonobos are a separate subspecies of Chimpanzees and likely separated only a hundred thousand years ago or so. The physiology is similar tho the bonobos are smaller but the social and behavior traits are worlds apart. Why do females have a greater role in bonobo society? Why do they engage in sexual play for social purpose alone? Why are they nonviolent? These traits were selected due to the different environmental pressures upon an isolated group of chimpanzees. It is summized that the simple difference of the food sources available , in trees rather than on ground, may have fostered this great divergence in personality and behavior. Very simple catalysts have given rise to great unforseen evolutionary products. Human evolution did not take place quickly. Over a period of 4-5 million years we went from an upright walking average intelligent social ape to an above average intelligent upright walking ape. -

A question for jw knowabouts - oldest archaelogical evidence ?
by A Paduan insaw this on another thread
*** w54 8/15 511 questions from readers ***
the traditional picture of jesus shows him with long hair and beard, but the watch tower publications illustrate him as beardless and with short hair.

According to illustrastions in the book,"Roots of Christianity" the early representations of Jesus do depict him as beardless. Mind you this is from the 4-5th century. The probable influences are far eastern. Krisna was effeminate and wore no beard. The middle ages artwork returned to this style of representation.

Update...Letter from Wt
by peacefulpete innot long ago i started a thread about how my wife & i sent letters to the society but received no response, well we got one.
my wife wrote a letter asking about the similarity between pagan mystery cults and christianity, especially she mentioned the eucharist meal of bread and wine representing blood and body of dying saviors such as mithras and dionysus.
their response was: .

thinker...I appreciate your comment. I agree that no amount of persuasive words can alter a well informed decision. Being informed about the arguments and methods used by your misguided opponents side immunes a person to their attractiveness.
Would you ellaborate on the last part of your post? What do you "understand" the cutting in two of the animals to represent? -

JGnat's comments on WT May 15, 2003 Christ Speaks to the Congregations
by jgnat inwt may 15, 2003 christ speaks to the congregations study june 29, 2003
here we study about the seven stars talked about in revelation 2, whom the article states logically denote spirit-anointed overseers, or bodies of elders.
* in revelation 2, the seven congregations are alternatively complimented for their strength, and slammed for their areas of weakness.

The seven stars in the god's hand is from mythology as well. The Greek world knew 7 planets and placed them as minor gods in Zeus's hand. Artwork survives depicting this scene. The writers using this motif to promote his brand of gnostic christianity is very characteristic of the book.

When men are left by a girl friend it is much more difficult to deal with for them then if they did the leaving. The problems in the relationship are forgotten. I imagine it is similar for women. The haunting sense of failure is often confused as evidence of a loving relationship that would have worked out "if only" they had done something different. Men often pine for years over someone who was entirely wrong for them only because they were not the one to end it.
Disfellowshipping works the same way. So much emotional investment is in the cult that those who are expelled feel like dismal failures. This is even tho thy truly had no faith in the cult or may have even been disgusted with it. A typical method of mind control is to link self worth with the opinion of the group. This way the only way to prove that they are not failures is to return to them and regain their approval. If he continues to be reinstated,in a short time he will likely become again disillusioned and be disfellowshipped again. Most disfellowshipped people eventually are disfellowshipped again due to this cycle of seeking approval yet not ever really feeling a part of the group.
It may be useful to recognise that what he longs for is not so much becoming a JW again and performing the tasks required of him as one, as much as his need to feel good about himself. He is not a worthless failure, he needs to believe that. Learning about cult techniques will help you to help him. The American Family Foundation (AFF)web site has valuable on site information about mind control and it's symptoms. As for your changing of doctrinal beliefs I cannot offer advice that you would welcome. -

Baptism Nullification- will it work for you?
by joe_from_kokomo indear friends: .
however, it appears to have been effective, as i have not heard a peep from anyone at bethel or the local elders either.
from our point of view, we are now free of the entrapments of the watchtower cult, and i feel that it is important to share this with those of you who may need an alternative to the two "official" methods of leaving: disfellowshipping or disassociation.

Maverik was disfellowshipped anyway. I imagine the same will happen again. People, it is best at this time to just stay quiet and leave without making noise or thumbing the nose at the WT.
