Just because Jehovah had to prove His Right To Rule? I don't think so!
by liam inwe get old because jehovah had to prove to all the angels that his way of ruling was the best?
that's the sorriest argument the watchtower has come up with.

American Primeval and the Mormons
by Simon injust finished season 1 on netflix.. holy crap, i had no idea of the history of the mormons!.
i always thought they were like the jws, or the quakers, but they were full on fascists committing massacres.. i'm sure they are hating having more people be aware of their past, but i gotta say, it is more event-filled than the jw history..

My Beliefs After Leaving the Watchtower
by KalebOutWest ini tend to keep my personal beliefs separate from my posts.. i know that is often different from others as their posts as often one and the same with their opinions.
i think that is good.
you get to learn a lot about people that way.

Do children still get destroyed at Armageddon?
by Anony Mous ini know back in the day, that was taught, that if the parents were going to be destroyed, so would the children.
i just can't easily find reference to anything.
this thinking has been used to justify some egregious behavior towards children and their parents such as exclusion of children from jw family - why worry, the end is near, all will work itself out then - the end didn't come though.

Changing the Date of the Memorial?
by KalebOutWest ini noticed in the latest memorial invitation, the dates for the observance are odd--well far more odd than usual.. what i mean is that forever as i can remember, jehovah's witnesses use to advertise really big that this was nisan 14. they don't tend to do this anymore.. and being jewish, their dates now tend to align with passover, or at least with the second seder night of passover.. 2025: saturday, april 12 (nisan 15).
2026: thursday, april 2 (nisan 15/16).
2027: monday, march 22 (nisan 15/16).

Jesus the Maintenance Man
by peacefulpete ini posted on another thread what i thought was an interesting angle, seldom discussed regarding the role of god/logos in holding creation together and its maintenance.
most moderns think of the universe as a self-perpetuating machine, but ancients looked to the god/s to ensure order continued and fertility returned year after year.
we read, throughout the ot, of jews performing prescribed ritual and festivals to ensure god's blessing and providence.

Who's got it wrong - Daniel or the evil slave?
by BoogerMan inw98 2/1 p. 22 par.
16 - "what of the dead who are resurrected on earth?...they also will have to love the name of jehovah, ministering to him, offering acceptable sacrifices......".
(daniel 9:26, 27) "and after the 62 weeks, mes·siʹah will be cut off, with nothing for himself.....and at the half of the week, he will cause sacrifice......to cease.

Elders, Jews and Dead Bunnies
by KalebOutWest ini thought i would give my personal experience on who i am, how i came into the world of watchtower, why i left, etc.
this would explain a lot about the answers i give and why they don't directly reflect my personal convictions (like a normal person--and i do mean that literally, kinda).
i cannot put everything here, but i can start bit by bit.. when i was 17 years old, my mother was on her third marriage and kinda starting her fourth (as she was dating this surfer dude-like guy who wasn't even 5 years older than me).
