one thing which kept me trapped as a jw far longer than necessary was the fear that if i left and no longer believed, my life would be empty of meaning and futile and ultimately end in a meaningless death.
i could not find any meaning in the world apart from the view jws had imposed upon me... all other ways seemed to lead only to meaninglessness.. but once out and even without a belief in any god[s] i still found my life meaningful but it took several years before i understood my new source of meaning and now see it as the only valid source... i will explain this after i see some of your ideas as i do not wish to bias your answers in advance.

And so the threats begin !
by NEWWORLDSLACKER inwell im back from my " relaxing trip to the coast "........ and apparently wile i was gone my jw father in law stepped up his plan for total jw world domination .
he has now officially threatened me with dfing .
and informed my wife that by my continued association with a disassociated person i am placing myself in jeopardy of changing my inactive status into a situation that needs to be handled in a judicial manner.

That is nuts. You can put them in there place with scriptures. Don't feed into the angry mad thing it will only serve to hurt you and your fam.

A friend needs some advice...
by onacruse inone of our close friends is on the verge of an almost inevitable confrontation with her dad re: her fading.
her family is very devoted to the wts, and she expects that she'll have only one shot at presenting her defense to him.
she has 5 issues in particular about which she feels very strongly (not necessarily in this order):.

I have to agree with shamus on this one. "Acts" speek louder then words and while you're at it you can turn to the book of Acts.
If one is "baptized" the discussion will be totally different then if non-baptized relative.
If baptized, regardless of what his/her doctrinal argument is, the natural reflex rebutal will be: you are being "confused" deliberately by Satan.
Any strong pursuit would only build stronger barriers, to keep from becoming confused along with the confused one. If you can follow that reasoning .

HELP ME! TEENAGER INVASION
by Yerusalyim inmy 15 year old son is having a party this evening...i have 24 teens here...hormones and all...save me!...actually, they're pretty good kids...just skating and listening to music.
the real problem are the parents.
a few weeks ago there was a party at a house with no chaperones...and the house got trashed...bad.
