  a little about myself, part one

  i've been posting here for a few months now but i suddenly realized that i don't say a whole lot.

  so i thought i would tell you all a little about myself.. i was born in a little village on the base of the andes mountains called urumbamba in peru.

  my father, a local witch doctor left my mother when i was born because he thought my mother had given birth to the devil.

  Am I the Oldest One here??

  today is my birthday, born in 1936. that makes me 66. i can hardly beleive it.

  i'm still in good health but know it's just a short run until something does me in.

  i'm really thankful for the great life i've enjoyed, no real problems that i consider serious.

  ok, let's construct a hypothetical situation.. this year i will not be attending the memorial.

  up till now, the elders have left me alone, but not attending the memorial may well trigger a reaction.

  one saturday afternoon the door bell goes.

  df vs disassociation

  can someone provide me some insight or past experience with the pros and cons to disassociating oneself versus getting disfellowshipped?

  besides the obvious of not having to deal with the lynch squad.

  A lot would depend on if you have family and friends in the "Truth" that you want to continue a relationship with.
  Most would (i don't mean relitives) shunn you after being df'd and if you d/A yourself because you just no longer wish to be a jw anylonger then that is SUPPOSE to elimiate the shunning thing. I your friends are your friends then they will still be your friends. I think a lot also depends on the attitude of the particular KHcommunity you live in to.

  i called the number alanf listed, 718-560-5000 and got a woman on the phone who said "hello--oh, i mean, jehovah's witnesses".

  i asked to speak to ciro aucilino and she transferred me!!!!

  Grandfather died

  and now there is a debate between my father and his sister whether there should be a memorial service at the kingdom hall.. is there a rule whereby an elder who gives a memorial service at a kingdom hall must use the society's outline?

  because my father and my grandmother have made it quite clear that he under no circumstances do they want that.

  (i'm very blessed to have jw family who do not shun me even with the long hair (yes it is growing back), earring, and, oh yeah, disfellowshipment).

  Very Sorry to hear about your Grandfather. I haven't been to a memorial for anyone at a kingdom hall in many years but the ones I can remember were pretty much like all the rest. I think the big difference is with who you choose to give the u+la+g I have no idea howto spell that. Pic someone who will have respect for your grandfathers wishes. hope it all works out.

  SO if we were to take the 9 (being it's the largest number under a thousand) and divide it by the total sum of all four six's multiplied by each other one at a time and take that number and multiply it by 1000 we end up with the number

  this statement is prety interesting.

  it's taken from the very latest watchtower article (april 1, 2002) the final sentence of paragraph 14 reads:.

  "if jehovah's organization knowingly endorsed false teachings, advice to read the bible would never be given to jehovah's witnesses and those to whom they preach.".
