  this is just to lay the framework for the next post.. the next post is a document from the united nations offical website.. --------------------------------------------.

  i recently found out something that sounded fishy to me after talking to a friend of mine.

  she is another active jehovah witness.. we were talking about the jw donation system.. i told her that they were basically selling magazines but to avoid legal consequences i.e.

  Thats what my dad told me also. I didn't hear any publicity about it other then what I heard via word of mouth. My dad came over shortly after the 911 tradgity, the first time he visited me in twelve years. Anyway the WTS donated the use of actual fire trucks and other equipment (I didn't know they had there own fire trucks) and housed clothed and fed many victims, and spent time at the site'ground 0' helping with the other volunteer's. I didn't think they did anything because they were never mentioned in the press like the other corps. etc. who volunteered. So when my dad came to visit and told me about how they were helping out I was pretty surpprised to say the least.

  In regards to "A publicity stunt" on there part, I seriously dought it because the LAST thing they want is publicity as UN-associated volunteer's. And if they did want publicity they would have been on T.V. with the rest of them. Jerome.

  it is indeed strange, yet understandable to observe the "kneejerk" reactions you get when you point out possible .

  flaw's with the mighty us of a, "god's own country".

  even from people who should have learned not to have that .

  I don't recal anyone saying they personally felt manipulated but I for sure didn't say it. I did how ever say this country was founded on manipulation and it is.   Food for a funeral

  a sister who lived in a local cong was dying and so she decided to get ready for this by preparing all the food for her funeral.. she spent a lot of time baking cakes, quiches and making sandwiches etc and filled the freezer with these so that the brothers and sisters could remember her at the get together after the funeral talk.. would you have eaten anything?

  Placing someone's name and address on a public board for all to see for any reason is ridiculous, but especially just because you don't like what they have to say? It should be grounds for getting kicked out for sure. If that's what this board would be turning into definitely count me out! I would gladly go somewhere else where my privacy would be a little more respected then that. I certainly don't agree with everyone on everything but thats the point in having a discussion forum.

  I can only speak from personal expierences with relitives and friends. A very close friend of mine divorced her "Unbelieving" husband because, well because she wanted to. There were major problems with that marrage from the get go. But anyway I remember when the elders came to there home to council them they focused most of the attention on her. She should stop trying to force him to study towards baptizim and be more in subjection to him. They basicly told her she new what she was getting into when she married outside of her faith and she needed to be more willing to compramise. They actually took his side, but only because he was the husband I imagine.
  I have two other friends that I have known for several years who have husbands who want nothing to do with WTBTW at all. They are both pioneers and seem to do just fine. They have house rules that make life easier for both. They celebrate all the holidays full blown decorations the whole nine yards. During the hoildays they don't have book studies at there homes but they have met for field service when there were only a few.
  they have to have all of her JW associates out of the house by a certain time so they don't have to run into them or deal with them when they come home. Never on week-ends! There kids and hubbies go to the KH once a year for the memorial and leave right after and have for 20 and 30 years.

  They have a lot of respect for each other and appearently they are fortunate enough to have there marrage respected. It is SUPPOSE to be that way but obviously it isn't. I would suggest writing to the GB yourself and very calmly express your concerns especially if the elders in that congergation start causing problems. And be relentless about it. I've done that. You don't think something is right, write a letter to them and tell them and again and again if you need to. I might just do some good. You wont know until you try.

  Some might say this topic is over my head BUT, my 2 cents anyway.
  I think this country was founded on and certainly built on manipulation. Don't get me wrong. I love my country just the same as anyone else. I just believe were are probably the most gullible and easily influenced of all people's. Were tough because of the ones who really run this country and we are happy to go along. Some may take offense at that but it's true. The constant and never ending messages that are pumped into us our entire lives keeps us in a very cooperative frame of mind. Our government controls us with our own emotions and I don't know if being in denial of that is a good thing or a bad thing. So far I guess it has been a good thing. It could change in the future. The next 50 years are going to probably be incredible years to live in as far as world changes go.
  It will be interesting anyway. But as for Americans, most are self centered, sorry but it's true. The majority of Americans will gladly send in donations or contributions to help starving children of the world but in reality there are only a handful that send in donations or contribute from there hearts. For most it's a tax right. Business.Tell me to f**k off if you like but this country didn't get where it is in such a short period of time by having the same attitude as the natives who laid out the first welcome rug. Most Americans have an attitude about education that focus's on getting ahead, that doesn't stray far from home. It's sad but true. Percentage wise I bet the average American can count on their fingers the number of people they know that regularly travel around the world or bother to seek out and learn about other cultures. A lot travel yahoo! but I'm not talking about "Club Med." And those who really have a desire to learn more about other places usually are the middle or low income and can't afford 3 and 4 thousand $$ adventures. Those who can easily afford them don't give a shit. (ducking under my computer) I had to save for 3 months just to fly accross the state to visit my mom. I couldn't afford to take my kids. They fly also one at a time. One year one goes the next year the other goes.I'm not exactly poor either. If I lived in a different state my expenses would be a lot less but it would cost three times as much to fly.
