Balaamsass2, I remember hearing (reading) about that ex. Didn't she keep running to the elders about every issue with you. Did all that ratting you out help her climb the JW social ladder to become head toilet cleaner?

Netflix Live Boxing Event
by moomanchu inwhen i was in the org it seemed most brothers were very much into football and other sports.
which looking back makes no sense and makes me wonder why?
it felt like an overcompensating to be masculine.. shouldn't football be deemed unchristian?

Sacred Days
by Riley inyesterday was remembrance day/veterans days in canada.
we had a couple younger half wits in the cong in field service yesterday.
both are trying to climb the ladder with the entire elder body ready to die in the next 10 years.. i just of thought it was a dick move to go door to door about the merits of fighting for freedom or not fighting on such a sacred day.

Riley, you reminded me of a quote often attributed either to Churchill or Orwell: "People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."
JWs can conduct their business safely in societies where peace has been won by the military and police forces, but they are forbidden to join either one to contribute towards that safety.

What is Your Favorite WT Lie?
by Sea Breeze ini would like to start a thread on lies that the watchtower and their reps have told.
surely we all have one or two that truly sticks out in our memories, no matter how much we would like to forget.
my favorite wt lie: the reason they don't want to release the name of the "scholars" who worked on the new world translation is because they do not want to accept "glory and honor" from others.

A lot of these days are paid public holidays that JWs feel no personal obligation towards. Perfect conditions for getting car groups together and finding people at home. A dick move, for sure, but perfectly logical for a contrarian group who have issues with mainstream churches and government.
Historically, it wasn't just about public holidays. In 30 Years A Watchtower Slave, Schnell says that they would deliberately have field service on a Sunday at times when the mainstream churches would be holding their services. That way they could find the disillusioned churchgoers (American society was much more church orientated in his time) and persuade them to give the JWs a chance. I think they held their Kingdom Hall meetings at non traditional times on the Sunday, such as during the afternoon.

WT brags about suing indigenous peoples and winning!
by Slidin Fast ini know we get a bit cynical and hard boiled about the exploits of wt inc. but this takes the biscuit.
apparently these ecuadorian indigenous people objected to being targeted by the sect.
so wt inc rode in and guess what?

WHY THE WATCHTOWER TREATS MEN LIKE DONKEYS OF BURDEN
by raymond frantz inhttps://youtu.be/tppmprdxxzw?si=shh5vkmuzfp6c9_m.
so the watchtower has come out with sn article, study article 2 in their newly released study watchtower magazine for 2025 and we see from the start how they keep perpetuating the same old outdated narrative that when it comes to marriages the husband is the one at fault, we'll thats i think when i read paragraph from this article where i man has to work on a whole list of things and not once the wife is instructed to do any of these things, but let's just read together paragraph 14:.
what are these steps?

"Apparently, there is a problem with a lot of JW men abusing their wives both physically and verbally or why the article?"
I learned many years ago that when a WT article says "True Christians don't", it really means "A lot of JWs are".

There's no reason why they couldn't bring back the book studies and make them zoom only. Weren't they abandoned due to the high risk of CSA incidents in private homes?
BTW, what is the Tuesday night meeting that I "witness", as I pass the Kingdom Hall, on my way to a different church's Bible study? Lots of cars in the Kingdom Hall carpark, and people getting out of them.
