"It Will Never Be Over For Me" 1964 by "Baby" Justine Washington
I know you've come - to tell me that its over
Well, alright I'll let you go free.
It may be over for you
But it will never -- be over--for me.
for me, it is faith hill's, "let me let go".
any other suggestions?!
i thought it was over, baby.

recently, i visited an area known for its 'healthy' congregations.
i spoke with an experienced elder about conditions.
he spoke glowingly about pioneers and not having enough kingdom halls.
I graduated from High School in the early 60's - strategically just behind the US baby-boom wave. My fellow graduates all surfed this population swell. Access to the best colleges was easy. State Universities were dirt cheap. BUT....
I was a JW. I struggled with industrial arts courses. My talents weren't in that area. I couldn't draw a straight line with a T-square & triangle. I couldn't hammer a nail into Balsa wood without bending it. My radio projects all sounded like prototypes of Moog sythesizers. The courses that interested me were not "practical" for citizens of the "New World". Science = evolution. Math was only important if you were pursuing science. Art & Music were self-indulgent. Dramatics was dangerous because you may get a role that's too "worldly". So I pioneered and learned how to survive cleaning toilets.
My dad was a college graduate. He went to college before he became a JW. He was a first generation from East European immigrants. My mother & father died and left me nothing. They divested themselves of all investments because the New World was close. But...
I now have two kids in college. (They are paying their own way) . Prosperity skipped a generation and now seems to be moving forward again. Fortunately my kids have learned the lesson and it won't be repeated.
This story has been told over and over. If you want to hear it, walk up to the gray haired brother who drives a 1982 Buick. Most likely he's not an Elder - any more. He's too busy paying for hospital bills out of his meagre self-employment income.
well lets look at the other side.
kerry said he voted for the war just before he voted against it, and acted like this was a smart statment.
huh
Before Bush was elected he was against "Nation Building"
Seems to be a change of mind on a pretty serious issue.
i know we've mentioned morrissey's new cd on this forum before, but i don't recall anyone talking about the shocking lyrics of his new album.
i love morrissey and i own all his stuff, but this time i've found myself cringing!
here are some excerpts:.
My oldest son (27) gave me a copy of Morrisseys latest so I could burn a copy for his sister (18). I liked it. So I kept a copy on my laptop. I'm 59 for those who may be interested in demographic appeal.
is the watchtower predicting the end for 2034 ad?
someone sent me scans of this dec 2003 wt and so i put together a little page on it.
http://www.freeminds.org/history/endin2034.htm
The Watchtower will NEVER EVER set a date again. That's one lesson they've learned. They have no reason to go out on a limb. All those people are dead. They seem to be getting by just fine with "near, imminent, soon, very soon, very very soon".
The only thing they might find tempting is a short term 3 and a half year prediction if the world actually does experience some kind of catastrophic upheaval.
i have not seen any attempted 'debunking' of this shocking incident - or the belgian triangle many years ago.. the recent incident involving the mexican air force showed publically how contrary explanations are failing, as various.
'experts' suggested ball lightning, weather balloons, and anything else they could think of.
much the same happened.
Metatron:
Keep posting the UFO stuff. I am convinced that there is something significant going on. When it all hits the fan I think the "angels" will prove to be material beings quite like us but with an advanced technology. James Clerk Maxwell died in 1879 the same year Russell began publishing the Watchtower. Who would have thought that by spinning a coil of wire in a magnetic field that you would get electricity. We don't know what amazing things lie behind a very thin veil of our ignorance.
has anyone heard of the dawn bible students?
they r basically russellites that i was told died out yrs.
ago(not true).
At least the Dawnites (whatever they are called) have an information rich web page. The Watchtower always brags about Russells progressive use of technology to spread the word - photo drama of creation etc.
Only recently has the Watchtower carried their web location in 6 point font on the back of the watchtower. And what an emaciated site!! Why don't they put everything they've ever printed on that site. How hard would it be to put their CD on line?
Apparently they are interested in information control NOT information sharing.
in all the years i went door to door as a jw, i never once had a study who went all the way to baptism.
in the thirty years i've know my wife -- who has been a jw all this time -- she has never made a single convert from going door to door either.
is this true of others on this forum?
About 10 people. Two of them are no longer witnesses. Of the 10 the 2 who fell away are good friends. One of the people I studied with became a gilead missionary. 4 became elders. 2 were "need greaters" (I really hate that term. GAG).
I never became an Elder.
it's been a while since i've posted here.
hope you all remember me!
in the final months before i left the organization, in the days before i consciously could accept that it was not the truth - indeed, before i could even entertain such a notion on the conscious level - my subconscious knew the truth, and it took to sending me ever stronger messages.
It was 1973. I was reading a psychology book by Perls, Hefferline & Goodman dealing with Gestalt Psychology. One of the exercises involved chewing all of your food until it was a smooth watery paste - and only then were you supposed to swallow it. The idea was to develop a resistance to just swallowing chunks. I did this for about a week and suddenly I was overcome with doubt about everything. This was the point where I started to examine the "truth" and quit swallowing things down whole. We tend to forget we are animals with a large brain on board. Our brains would like us to think we are only "brains".
recently the local congregation had the visit of the c.o.
the local needs talk he usually gives was replaced by a talk he said will be given to many congregations around the world.. this talk is targeting th very young.
kids are being strongly encouraged not to put off baptism and that children as young as 10 can make an informed decision to get baptized.
I was baptized at the age of 10. That was almost 50 years ago. In the context of being a religious person that is fine. I knew nothing about sex. And when I found out about sex I was already committed to leading a moral life. I don't regret that decision even though I only believe about 10% of what JW's teach. It was a committment to my community and its values at that point in time.
I think that baptizing at a young age goes along with the traditions of "passage" to adult hood. Confirmation, Bar Mitzvah etc. tend to take place in the early teens. The Catholic Church understands the age of moral discretion as starting as early as 7 years old.
Even if you are 30 it's the inner 10 year old that gets baptized. Rituals are powerless if its an entirely rational act.
