Attending memorial tomorrow?

this is my first year i will not attend memorial.

to be honest if it wasn't for my husband i would probably be going still.

he says what's the point, don't be one of those people who doesn't give a sh** but just shows there face once a year.

Much to my chagrin I found out from my best friend who knows TTATT and has been inactive for years who has family still in that an elder who I haven't heard from in 3.5 years is trying to find my new address and phone number to invite me. This elder even traveled 30 minutes to another county to check at one of my old houses which has long since been sold (5 yrs ago).

I have been next to elders and others in line at stores and am ignored although I am not DA or DF. No idea why now...doesn't matter. IF they find me which would be rather difficult, I will make sure they know that any sneaky means of tracking me down are unacceptable and that I will contact them if I ever want assistance from them. They need no information except "no thank you...ever."

So no Memorial again for me. Missed Memorial #4!!!!

20 plus years ago during my first stretch of pioneering, I was assigned on the board by the elders to conduct 3 specific days per week. No brother was ever out and they wanted to be sure we were prepared and had proper head coverings ( not the paper towel from the bathroom that some had resorted to lol) I'll never forget the time my good friend who was reproved at the time came in late and to his embarrassment I said "oh, a brother is here!!" and went to move as he tried to discreetly wave for me to ignore him. I only remembered his predicament as I was making the broadcast. All it did was embarrass everyone in attendance and I was quite capable at handling the group.

Even years later during stretch #2, I was the only "sister" to receive her own special territory for the big "religions end near" to organize each day because I always got it done.

I think my strong, independent attitude while I was in has kept them at bay for the last 4 years I have been out. I even stood right behind one of the elders that is quite the arrogant person in line at the pharmacy a few weeks ago. He was always competing with me for some reason because I had a nicer home than he and he didn't like that. He looked right through me. My daughter and I had quite a laugh over that one!!

Women as a second class citizen was a rule I always fought one way or another lol. So far it has served me well :)

I agree that noting these particular topics is being used to weed out "apostates". It's why I always speak of my aunt who is, in real life, a JW many states away and bring up those topics as questions I have had over the years in her efforts to convert me. I never, ever mention I was ever a witness. I never mention anyone but my aunt and that has encouraged the few that engage with me over those points to applaud me for my "sincerity" and "desire for truth".

I was very good at refuting "conversation stoppers" back in the day but those 2 were tough ones that I did not encounter often and were challenging. I got the blood issue way more than disfellowshipping. I was way too programmed back then to see reason even when they brought up points I couldn't refute though.

Governing Body new Branch letter begging for donations !

i just want the governing body to know how "happified" i am today.

keep sending those branch letters to the congregation(s) about sending your donations in.

not only did you humiliate the rank and file with your tony morris tight pants talk but now you are begging the same people you humiliated for money.

So from this point of view aren't I due a refund if my blessings were supposed to be in proportion to what I gave???

My "Un-Witnessing" Comments for this Upcoming Sunday's Watchtower.

i won't be there (fortunately) but perhaps my warm encouragement and hard work, in preparing these comments will help someone, who has the burden of attending the meetings, give a good un-witness.. 3. while on earth, how did jesus follow his fathers example?.

answer - jesus at john 9:4 gave us a very important reminder, he said "we must do the works of the one who sent me while it is day; the night is coming when no man can work.

" the figurative night that jesus was likely referencing was amos 5:18 where it says "woe to those who yearn for the day of jehovah!

No one listens carefully enough to decipher most of the points in the comments. I doubt even the conductor would have a clue...he would thank you for your comment and move on. Witnesses are taught NOT to think. The answer to paragraph 3 would most likely just be taken as being a slip up of sorts and ignored and the next few would fly over their heads. I do think 19 would catch someone's attention because of the use of that one little no-no word. Grace.

it's important when we have to face a manipulative cult with some members of our family trapped inside, yes it is important to know how to fade intelligently so that our jw family members are not going to shun us.

Be stumbled and stay that way. Have a couple of guilting conversations with a few elders on the depth of your pain. Be specific and detailed so there is no doubt as to your firm stance. Do not be wishy washy. Give no indication that it is negotiable. Stay home here and there. Take your dress to the edge of acceptable. Stop the ministry and turning in time. Then stop attending meetings and all contact...personal and social media wise. Then when you have avoided everyone for a significant amount of time, move. And if you have a particularly brilliant child who keeps being contacted against your wishes, that intelligent child will use their brilliance and say "I'm sorry. I think you have the wrong number." Been out going on 4 years now :) I must say it works better when you are single. My friend has left but their mate is badgered at every opportunity when my friend doesn't respond to "loving" proddings to do "more for Jehovah".

CONFESS or COVERUP

the disconnect from the family of humanity......the snap of that fellow feeling......the cold indifferent shrug as each person dries up and hardens into a mere thing in a kingdom hall.....is a withering away of all that is noble, pure and innocent.. and when that icy moment sets in the rest of the world vanishes into an invisible nothing in the heart of that strutting and proud lump of human flesh called jehovah's witness.. it is the first of many deaths they will endure.... where does it begin and where does it end?.

glad i don't have to go through all the craziness over christmas shopping..

Loving this holiday season. I have bought slowly over the year and stayed in budget. my daughter and I have made the house a warm and cozy haven of happiness with the lights and trees....not overboard. I have done 80% of my shopping online with fabulous results And the other 20% will be done on Saturday. And I wrap and label as I buy. The JW excuse is the cop out....always was for me.

its funny that I feel nothing at all strange about celebrating. I love finding the unexpected things for those I love. Aaaaand we absolutely LOVE our tree!!!!!

I need a good cry but I can't. Please help?

besides being overworked and overstressed almost everyday in the past few months,.

i've had to deal with a 'broken heart', insecurities with my physical appearance (gained a lot of weight),.

and being lonely because i started distancing myself from the 'congregation', i just want to cry, sob, and bawl out here in my bedroom.

I know the feeling. for me it is as though ice has overtaken me and the possibility of a cathartic cry seems utterly impossible. Sometimes there is nothing I can do but I have found that there are a couple of triggers I can use involving specific movie scenes. There are 3 that work for me. The end of the series finale of Lost, the end of Titanic (cheesy I know) and the end of The Notebook. I am not a crier but sometimes we need that soul cleansing cry to clear the mind. Once you can have that cry try making a short list of things you want to accomplish in the short term. No more than a week. Don't set yourself up for failure by trying to take on too much. Try taking on one new thing to better yourself. even one step forward, however small, can lift your spirits to take another step.

I am am so sorry you are over stressed and dealing with a broken heart. I have been there but I promise it will get better. Time has a way of passing faster than we think.
