Dateline:Have u lost contact with someone?

they are interested in the where, whys, what, and when .. this maybe a chance to tell the world about what happens when the teachings of the wtbts becomes the fanatical part of ones' life.. how if one disagrees with the org.

one is dfed then the shunning begins even to the point one looses contact with their own children and are forbidden to see their grand children

I have lost contact with dubs and non-dubs as a result of being a JW.

On the non-dub side: my father's parents were worldly...we had very little to do with them as a result. When my parents divorced, this gave my mother an even better excuse to keep us away from them. They both passed away in the mid to late 1980's. I did not really know them. I really regret not pushing and begging to see them. However, they were 'bad associations'....my mother would not let us visit with them. They might pull us from the borg. I lost contact with my father's side of the family. I have not spoken to anyone on that side in years...since my grandfather's funeral.

On the dub side: I have tried to get in contact with aunts and cousins. They are not interested. These are children I played with. As adults they cannot see past the JW teachings. To get together for a family gathering...what is the point? They want to preach to bring me back. I do not want to hear it. So I am shunned.

It is insane. It is so destructive.

My Dad Married Me....

its absolutely true.

my father did indeed marry me..., to my now ex-wife.

dear old dad conducted the wedding ceremony in waterlooville kh way back in 68. it was so crazy.

I got lucky...I was still slightly overweight (Christie Brinkly was Super Model #1 back then) and no one wanted me....

However, I was able to break the cycle in my family of marrying at age 18. 5 generations before me, not including my sister, got married by 18. Whew!

The sad part is that we should never have married at all. If we had not been JW’s we never would have!

That is why my sis married...and many JW aquaintences. Too bad, many uphappy marriages and lives. However, if you have children, that is lovely.

Glasto-Aposto-Fest

a few days ago the license for glastonbury 2002 was granted.. for those that don't know, glastonbury is a music and art fesitval in the heart of the english countryside.

about 100,000 people, music from big names like rem and radiohead, all the way down to small folk bands (there are dozens of stages), including a dedicated world/jazz music stage, hundreds of stalls selling all sorts of food and trinkets, a circus, a comedy tent, a cinema tent, a whole section dedicated to alternative/green technologies (solar-powered internet cafe?

) and new age what-have-you... you camp in tents whilst you're there, and the only real downside is the toilets, unless it rains.... think of a well organised woodstock that gives huge amounts to charities.

Had Dinner with my Daughter

my paternal daughter is going to college to learn to do sonograms.

she has finished her schooling for xray and likes sonograms better.

she is married and seems happy.

That is sooo nice! (((hug))). I very rarely see my father. He and my mother divorced when I was 12 and he got remarried. I have seen him approximately 10 times in the last 28 years.

Please try telling her you love her. Even if that is all you say. It is so important!

My Dad tries, however, we are like distant relatives. He does not really know me or what my views on life are....he is too busy to ask.

Send her a card if it is hard to put into words. A little thing like that goes a long way towards building relationships. Don't let her slip away. I am sure she loves you and just wants to be with you. As she gets older, her relationship with you will be even more critical.

there have been times in the past when this subject has come up where i live; when people have gotten together for socializing and conversation.

"What are some of the things that we take for granted today that we will not need in the New System?
I have heard a large range of things from my friends here where I live. I have heard cars, airplanes, etc. I have heard coffee and alcohol, since we don't need either one to live. I have even heard, from my long-time-in-the-truth father, that since(in his opinion) we won't be having kids, we won't need sex(Again, that was his opinion). Bold mine-puffs
So anyway, what are some things that you see around you everyday that you think you won't need in the New System?

Some responses:

I wonder what forms energy, transportation, or technology will take. The imperfect brain has really done some remarkable things.... what will the perfect brain be capable of??????? or does perfection = primitive living? It doesn't to me, but then, that's just my opinion.

Did I miss something? Where does it say we won't be having children in the new system? Many people have put off having kids until then...where did this idea come from?

Don't worry XXXXXXXX, this is completely a personal opinion of a few brothers and sisters I've run into. Don't get pregnant just yet! I think it stems from the belief that the earth will be filled and there will no longer be a need to reproduce. First of all, even after the resurrection, it will take a long time for the earth to fill up. Secondly, Jehovah gave us reproductive organs for a reason. They take up a lot of our space and metabolism. I doubt they'll become obsolete. Thirdly, and this is just speculation on my part, who says we have to stop with just the earth?

little red riding hood is skipping down the road when she sees the big bad wolf crouched down behind a log.. "my what big eyes you have, mr. wolf," says little red riding hood.. the surprised wolf jumps up and runs away!!!

further down the road .

little red riding hood sees the wolf again; this time he is crouched behind a tree stump.. "my what big ears you have mr. wolf," says little red riding hood.. again the foiled wolf jumps up and runs away.

The end: so what?

i first heard about the end of the world when i was 5 years old.

that was in 1945. when i left the jws, i was in my 20's and never cared much for end time predictions ever since.

i have heard how man will destroy himself.

The dubs set me up to not believe in hell and since we have no soul...I figure when the end happens, one of two things will happen.

1. I will die and be dead.

2. I will die and be dead.

I do not subscribe to the whole big A coming on. At all. Like you, larc, "been there, done that" It did not happen.....

If it does happen, Oh Well. I will be dead, so I don't care!

A story of brotherly love.....

since i've been here, from around july, 2001, i haven't really shared any personal experiences of why i left the society, except for the story about my sister who committed suicide.

this is kind of long, so i will tell it in parts.

if this is god's organization, i will gladly be a devil worshiper.. here goes....... when i was about 27 years old, (around 1984) after my divorce, i'd moved from laurens, south carolina back to andrews, sc, and rented the house beside my grandmother.

I just read this, in the morning, and cried. You reminded me of all the terrible things JW's are and the things they do. Your mother could be mine. I am truly sorry for your pain.

i've always felt that the adult jws got off pretty easily compared to jw kids.. for instance: .

my dad went to work, and didn't bother his co-workers with jw stuff.

it wasn't allowed.

The interesting thing about this thread (besides all of our stories is the teachers.

Many of us noted that the teachers we had did not like us because we were JW's. Isn't that strange?

I had one teacher (teachers assistant, really) in the fourth grade (my last class in the Chicago system) who did not care that I could not say the Pledge or participate in birthdays. She always made a point to tell me that it was OK. I wish I could remember her name.

On the other end of the spectrum was the first grade teacher (long time teacher, she was in her 50's) who despised me. No matter what I did, she would find fault with it. It was because we were JW. She made no secret of it. She put me in the coat closet quite a few times. For not standing at pledge, not singing happy b-day, etc. She got especially annoyed about something in a note my Mom sent (it was Xmas time) and grabbed me by the hair and dragged me to the prinipals office. I can see her face perfectly. I can see her lovely Chanel knockoff suit (she tried to dress like Jackie O-it was 1967). She was a beast.

Do teachers still act this way? Are they allowed to let feelings like this show through? I do not have children, so I have no experince, only what the newspapers tell me.

Hi Scully,

Your parents were not the only ones who did trust their children. My mother never trusted my sister or I.

When she nagged me about drugs I finally broke down and did it...I figured if she thought I was anyway, I might as well.

You are correct-they were looking for us to do something wrong, just so it would prove the Society's point.

It really did suck. No fun.
