  UNAFFILIATED Christian Where Do You Feel Wanted??

  what if you as an unaffiliated christian went to a pastor, elder, or apostle of a church and after his service you went up to him and said, im one of those unaffiliated christians.. what would his reaction be?.

  would he look very startled?.

  would he even view us as a real christian?.

  I have been checking out the different religions
  in my area. What I did was go to
  * http://www.religioustolerance.org
  and get a list of christian religions ranging from
  conservative to liberal. I'm checking out the
  liberal ones. I want to stay away from the
  extreme fundamentalist high control religions.

  So far all have been very welcoming and no pressure
  to join or anything. I don't think I will ever become
  a member of a religion. But I do want the spiritual
  association.

  I also check out the websites of the different religions.

  Some of the more liberal religions are:
  Presbyterian
  Methodist
  United Church of Christ (not to be confused with other
  churches with similar name).

  as soeone raised in the truth my whole life i am struggling with a basic doctrinal issue.

  the issue has to do with universal sovreignty and the ransom sacrifice.

  let me try to illustrate by way of analogy:.

  The ransom is something I've been struggling with
  for a long time. Getting his son tortured to death
  was God's plan for saving us?! And I'm supposed to
  feel good about that? That is suppose to show God's
  love for us? Doesn't make any sense to me.

  I am saving all the posts to read offline.

  Here are some clues about the ransom doctrine
  that I am currently researching.

  1. Adam and Eve as myth--by "myth" I mean not literal.

  2. There are several different atonement theories, not just
  the one we all know about.

  3. Jesus as sacrifice is a metaphor, not literal.
  Just like "Jesus is the lamb." We all know that is not literal,
  but is symbolic. Jesus is not literally a sheep. So what
  could it mean that Jesus is a sacrifice? What did Jesus
  accomplish?

  Also, I recommend the book:
  "Meeting Jesus Again For The First Time",
  by Marcus Borg.

  I know someone in a similar situation and it has caused
  an enormous amount of damage--emotionally, spiritually, etc.

  IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT!!

  Geez, jw's should get a clue.

  I will do some checking on wt policy for you.

  I don't think I could go back to a place that had
  judged me wrong for something that was not my fault.

  I'm so sorry about what happened.

  EXPLORER-Hatred, Hurt, and Forgiveness

  explorer spoke about ex-jw's hating jw's and spoke about forgiveness.. i dug up an article from the 12/1/97 watchtower.. in paragraph 15, under the sub-heading, when it seems impossible to forgive, the article stated this:.

  what, though, if others sin against us in a way that inflicts the deepest of wounds, and yet there is no acknowledgement of the sin, no repentance, and no apology on the part of the offender?

  (proverbs 28:13) the scriptures clearly indicate that jehovah does not forgive unrepentant, hardened sinners.

  I think there is a lot of misunderstanding of what true
  forgiveness is.

  Forgiveness is not synonymous with reconciliation.

  Forgiveness may or may not include reconciliation.
  It depends on the situation.

  Forgiveness is not a 2 second decision, but a process.
  Anger is actually part of the forgiveness process.
  In fact, I don't think you can forgive someone unless
  or until you have done your anger work.

  Yeah, a lot of xjw's are angry. Rightly so.
  It's a process.
  Move thru it.
