we had my little girls first birthday party yesterday, and in my head i knew nothing was wrong with it.
but i was still not comfortable, i still felt like i was doing something wrong, until i looked at my little girl and seen how happy she was, the smile on her face, for the first time in her life so many people was there just for her.
at that point, i knew nothing was wrong with it, once a year a person should be treated that way, helps your self worth.
Glad the party was such a good time. Its nice hearing about how people are going on and living normal lives outside of the JW's. Keep on this track and everything will be so much better than it ever could have been in the JW's.

personally, i hope the witnesses think i am the devil himself and fear me upon sight of me.
I think you should be careful that you don't give the impression that your choices are better than the choices of others here, or on other discussion boards.
And what's so wrong about trying to say one way is better than another?
I still say this one post by Ken makes more sense than any other I've read on this board. From the way it sounds it also works the best. Look people, if you act like you're doing something to be ashamed of or try to hide stuff you're giving in to the JW's. My take on this post is stop whining about how you have to hide normalacy from JW family members and be ashamed of it and turn the tables on them. When you leave the WTBTS you are doing something good and normal. Your family members still in are the freaks for not leaving. Stop being trampled by those phsychopaths and get a back bone.

See what happens when you actually go and do something normal instead of whining about everything all the time folks? Go, be yourself, do what you think is right and it works out just fine. Remember, they're the ones with the problem, not you. Why should you be ashamed of not being a cult member? If anything they should be the ones that are ashamed of the way they live. Listen to this guy, he has a better grasp on a normal life than just about any poster I've ever seen. Keep up the good work Ken.

Hey everyone except Ken, read this above message. This is someone who is actually making sense and has a nice healthy view point on all this. I couldn't agree anymore with him about this view. If only half the people who leave the JW's would have this outlook the world would be a better place and this board would certainly (to me anyways) be a lot more fun.

Myself, this arguement is one of the biggest reasons why I don't believe in the bible. If there really is a god like what is described in the bible then that's one pretty cruel god.

i was thinkin lately about the use of titles and how they can be problematic such as the ones used on here such as jedi member,emperor class etc.think why r these titles put into effect is it maybe to encourage others to stay committed to jw.com and thus strive for a better title or prominence or even to the advantage of the owner of this website to remain loyal to the website and to keep the number of visitors high.you see if any of you who are previous witnesses well know how the use of titles can serve to no advantage titles only cause envy,division,etc "thats what i think"
I pay no attention to them but do wonder why they're there. What purpose do thry serve? The only thing they mean to me is that some people have way too much free time and spend too much time here. Hell, I've been thinking about getting a new screen name just so I won't have to admit to people I've posted hundreds of times on here.
Oh yeah, you can't say the titles don't mean anything because how many threads are on here where people are celebrating because they hit 1,000? I think this will answer your question if they mean anything.

it seems that many of our friends here have become too emotionaly involved with this discussion board.. it has eaten into their personal lives,and caused upset and anger.. it is a shame as a times there can be great encouragement and words of wisdom here.other times nonsense and triva.. it can be addictive, and i sometimes find myself wandering here too often.. but i think its good to keep yourself detached from the people here unless you know them more personnaly.. internet conversations are different from face to face chats, and people say things they wouldn't normally say in front of someone, or say things due to lack of understanding , of other peoples needs.. we would't want to put people off from coming here by petty bickering and such.. i believe that restraint is sometimes called for and a little patience on our part when we feel hurt by peoples cutting remarks, imagined or other wise.
Yes, I must agree with this topic. Its a website to talk about JW stuff. This isn't a nice new family to replace the one you lost in the JW's. For some people it may lead to more in real life but for the majority of us its nothing more than a website. Computer interactions are just that. They're not real life and can't replace it. If this place is your family or anything even resembling it you might want to consider turning the computer off for a while and going outside. That is not a healthy thing.
Flower, you talked about going and talking to people in real life about JW stuff and moving on. That's good. Keep doing that. Talking about people you know online as family. That's bad. That's delusional.
A certain other poster talks about how they have no life so they talk about sex on here. That's sad. Are you writing from experience? You have to wonder about anyone who writes about sex so much yet also writes about this site being their life. You can say you're as attractive as you want to be online. Once again, don't get so attached to a website folks.
Go outside people. Come here on your free time to talk about JW stuff. This website isn't your family. Your family is the group of people who have the same blood as you.

would the rules be different for boys vs. girls?.
personally, i think given a choice between 'it' happening anyway god-knows-where and giving a suitably mature kid some privacy, i go for the privacy option.. what do you think?
Thanks Syn. What's sad is this was pretty much based on real life. This girl I was friends with back in high school would go over to her boyfriend's house late at night and apparently his mom and stepdad (what's scary is he's a cop) were into bondage and spanking and stuff. Apparently they'd get into arguements because she would get a little too rough and leave marks where people could see them. Scary thing is I don't think they were trying to scare her away but were just like that. Never a dull day hanging out with that girl.........
