My father used to drag us out on every stinkin' holiday. I hated every second of it.

JW's on Christmas Day
by Jim_TX inmy wife, my m-i-l and i were driving over to my wife's aunt's home on christmas day to celebrate christmas - which involved letting the aunt's great-great-grandkids open their presents, and eating an early supper (or late lunch).. we were on the way at around 10:30am to 11:00am to the house.
about a couple of miles away, whilst driving through the neighborhood, i spotted a couple of middle-aged young women wearing skirts down to their ankles, and carrying large handbags (aka 'bookbags').
they were between houses, and walking slowly... pioneer stroll?....

Reddit thread: I just turned 21, and Im close to committing suicide
by thecrushed ini saw this thread this morning and i can't get it out of my head.
it reminds me so much of my own feelings of hopelessness at that age.
i did the stupid thing and turned to doing copious amounts of drugs and never dealt with the problem only to be sucked back into the cult later at my lowest point of drug addiction.

I can remember the buzz going around the cult years ago, that if you read every Awake for 3 years you would have the equivalent of a college education.
Oh yeah, with articles like "The Mighty Carrot" and "Are You Plagued with Loose Bowels." You betcha!

Welcome!
Unless the elders are going to go around checking everyone's browser history (hah!) then the Society can't control what the R&F research and read. Only the most faithful/brainwashed members will avoid apostate websites.
I had a comment on my blog from an active JW saying that Satan had me wrapped around his little finger. Now, how did she reach that conclusion? By reading one or more of my blog posts! Nice little seed planted there. Maybe it will grow and flourish and she'll have her eyes opened.
Love the Internet!

That's the conclusion I came to just before I left JWs 8 years ago. I couldn't understand why they didn't take steps to protect children unless they themselves were pedophiles.
I had a civics teacher back in high school who told us that legislators enact lighter punishment for offences they themselves are more likely to commit. Drunk driving was the big one back then - a mere slap on the wrist. (In the intervening years things have changed, thanks to grass roots campaigns like MADD.)
That little lesson came back to me when I first learned of the pedophilia in the organization, and the only conclusion I could come to was what you posit in your video, Punky.

This is great! My father was the PO in our congregation, and every so often in a conversation he'd interject, "Well, the bodies of elders got a letter on that, but I can't tell you about it." If he were still alive he'd be horrified to find all of those letters, plus the top-secret elders' book, available online.

Watch Tower Web Site Has No Commenting Feature, Comments Unwelcome,
by frankiespeakin inwell it comes as no surprise that the "official" watch tower web site has no place to leave a comment you can only leave your address if your interested.. can you imagine if they did have a place where you can post comments what would happen?.
i'm sure the lack luster of the wt web site is due to the fact that a bunch of old governing body member must go over it with a fine toothed comb and with all thier other business to carry out as corporation executives it is just to time consuming and lets face it these old guys just don't have what it takes to bring this organization thru the 21st century, they are too lost in thier delusion, they are fighting thier own shadow, the enemy is everyone that disagrees with them and they are so steeped in denial they don't want to hear any comment that doesn't agree with them.
they only want confirmation biased statements to read, all else must be resisted and faught against.. internet presents is very important to the wt or it should be as door to door sales will no longer pay the bills, who wants a trashy magazine when you can down load info cheaply and quickly off the net.. these delusional old guys running the wt will be the reason they go belly up.

With the anonymity the Web provides even articles about cute puppies can elicit nasty comments. How many times have you wanted to comment on a video you enjoyed only to find a few people having a name-calling-fest in the comments section?
If the WT site allowed comments it would get spammed by both fawning JWs and apostates. It could be fun, though.

I don't know the tune. This must be from the new songbook. But I like the lyrics.

There are hypocrites in every religion. JWs have such a rigid code of conduct it's nearly impossible not to be a hypocrite to some extent.
Shoot, I'd have to vote for myself. I tried hard to live up to what was expected of me, and I certainly preached it, but I failed.
