my mother retired from her full-time job recently and has started attending meetings again.

she also has plenty of time to think about her wayward children, including me.

one night, we were talking and she asked me, again, why i wasn't going to meetings.

is it appropriate for a christian to own a cat, in light of their past pagan religious affiliation and the medical information that is now coming to light?

it would be misleading to answer this question with either a simple yes or a no.

the scriptural answer of necessity must be a qualified one, and it is easy to see why.

The sad part is, this could be printed in next months WT, and guess what the JWs will do? They will obey and get rid of the cats.. The GB may even allow a grace period just like with smoking! How loving indeed!

so many have faded away for various reasons, or get df and stop attending meetings and go on with their lives.

i wonder how many of them have researched that the org may not be the truth, and how many go on believing it, but just mve on with their lives because they feel they are inadequate, cant live up to the standards, etc and feel they will be destroyed in armadeddon.

they physically free themselves but mentally are slaves.

I agree with the above comments.. I think you guys are right as evidenced by the breif surge in attendence following 9/11. People you havent seen in years all the sudden turned up, thus proving that they have been sleeping all along, although physically free. It is so ironic that these people will fornicate, get drunk, use drugs, watch and or make porn, play the most violent video games and not go to a meeting for 5 or more years, yet still are just as much slaves as the pioneer/elder uber JW. They will argue with anyone who tries to free them from their mental prison. They must be thinking "Eat drink and be merry for tomorrow we will die" Some have made the calculated decision that although they believe the WT is right, they dont want to live by it and therefore do what they want without ever waking up.

Also, when ever they have illegitimate children, get cancer from their smoking, STDs etc. they just view it as proof thet they should have listened to the WT and if how they had just stayed "in the truth" everything would have been OK

it seems in most congregations there is always the same personality types of brothers and sisters in each congregation.

XBEHERE- That im sure is more common than we think. Can you imagine the mental torment they go through if they are still true believers? They go to all the meetings, service, etc but deep down know that they will never survive the big A because of their "secret sins" They are never good enough, and they feel their lives are wasted although they will never admit this verbally, they feel it everyday deep down. This in turn, feeds the alcolhol and porn addictions, because they feel it is all they have so they may as well do it anyways seeing as the end is "just around the corner". So sad. I vividly remember the feelings on inadaquacy, and never going to survive armageddon feelings even though I was fine to outside observers.

This is something that I often wonder about. So many have faded away for various reasons, or get DF and stop attending meetings and go on with their lives. I feel There are 5 types of JW/ex JW.

1. Mentally sleeping/slaves and physically still in.

2. Mentally sleeping/slaves and have stopped JW activities

3. Mentally free but physically still in due to family etc.. The concious class/stealth mode.

4. Mentally free and phsically free.

5. Just starting to wake up, think for themselves (somewhere in between)

and maybe a 6th- Just going along to get along, not believing or non believing, just letting momentum carry them through the motions.

How many non attending inactive/ DF do you think are awake?

i was surprised to learn many other mainstream christian religions believe in a physical earthly resurrection.

even catholics.

it seems the belief is that as of now one goes to heaven to wait, then in the future will have an earthly resurrection.

This is standard cult mind control at work. Quote a scripture, make unrelated unconnected links to behaviors the leaders of the WTS does not want its drones doing, such as marrying a non JW or even more crazy, linking the scripture to not engaging in school sports or clubs. Just another example of the GB taking from the members and delivering nothing in return.

They make the scripture say something it does not, yet now they have an aura of divine authority because the counsel was "bible based".

The Jerimiah book almost entirely consisted of this method.

i have been noticing in recent threads that people have been observing that the zeal has been waning among r+f jws.

i have observed that most zealous, die hards have gone to foreign lands, or foreign language congregations, leaving the others in the stagnant english congregations.

when you think of it, if you cared at all about bringing people into the cult, you probably would be preaching where it is fertile, the foreign field.
