Place some of blondie's comments in them. I'm willing to bet when the JW returns, they'd be curious to read her comments.

grabbing the magazines
by Junction-Guy inwell i kinda started a new tradition last year.
sometime last year i stopped off at a gas station in london kentucky and i noticed watchtower and awake magazines laying on a brochure rack, and i promptly removed them.
well yesterday on the way up to dayton i stopped off at that station again, and sure enough there were 6 magazines there, 3 watchtowers and 3 awakes.

This may be off topic a little bit but for me it isn't wheather or not God exists but wheather or not it's benefical to believe in Him. Does it do a person good to believe in God and follow a set of rules?

French finally get Balls !!!
by Amazing1914 inyes, friends, the almighty french have redeeemed themselves as they resoundly reject the european union constitution ... and because french socialism is proving a dismal failure, not unlike its soviet communist counter-part, their cronie president, jacque chirac, has resigned.
yes, sir, it looks like a new "pro-american" frenchman will become the next president of france.
which means that the french are willing to take some serious risks, ( get some big brass balls in american-ese) and align themselves more with capitalist usa.

A cynic would say that they French will vote against anything that doesn't mean that France will be the center of the EU. EXACTLY, France is only interested in France and always has been
Aren't the Dutch also schduled to shoot it down on Wednesday?
Personally, I need to learn more about what they exactly voted down. If I were a European, I would think the EU would be the best way to fend off China's economic might and have more political might against the USA. Why did the French shoot it down?
One thing that comes to mind if the U.K.'s economy vs. France and Germany. Maybe the French are sick of sliding ever since they took on the euro.

and I think the romance and attraction of the "great American pastime" of baseball is lost on today's youth - the passion just isn't there anymore, IMO - too slow, too boring, too time-consuming for the ADD generation.
I'm not trying to be a spoil-sport but I can't picture soccer ever being a "great American pasttime." You're right about baseball but it's been that way for more then a decade. People are tired of seeing the same teams win and the same teams loose year in and year out. Without market revenue sharing, teams like the Yankees will always have the big bucks to buy all the good players while teams like the Brewers will just have the left overs. The NFL has this and that's why every year you'll see an underdog team make a run for the playoffs (and some times win the Super Bowl). That's one reason football is the great American past time, has been for many years. Look at it both on a college and pro level. People can't get enough of it. Heck, they're just doing NFL mini-camp training right now and it's a top story on the news. I live hear in Chicago and I think I heard only one reference to this soccer match and I listen to sports talk radio all day.
I remember in the early 80's there was this surge of interest in major league soccer but it died out. Look what happened with women's soccer. That one woman, Mia?, was on the cover of every magazine but it to died out.
Then again, if soccer finds it's "Wayne Gretzky" it could have it's surge just like the NHL did in the 80's & 90's. And if they market it correctly, they could sustain it.

Why not see that everyone, everywhere, is doing the very best they can with what they have; and that may not be much other than bad brain-chemistry, or an abusive past, or stupid and unquestioned beliefs, or all of the above.
Consider this. Members on the GB know (they KNOW) that they aren't directed by God. They have seen all the stupid predictions they have made, all the moronic beliefs and all the crap they have taught for decades that don't make sense.
Now they have the power to kill people. And they have. By insisting that God bans the use of blood transfusions, they have killed thousands of people. By insisting that JW's do not by political cards but rather die at the hand of a crazy governments, they have killed people.
This, JT, goes beyond "doing the very best they can."

Hating something that causes harm to people is wrong? A strong hatred for something evil is not good for oneself? I disgree. Now, being consumed by hatred, yes, that is destructive.
kls,
I was wondering when the lecture was coming.Interesting that you say you "fail to see" what good there is.
But, that is besides the point. What I am trying to say is: Hate requires both an object of hate and an inward choice to hate. Hate tends to have an extremely negative effect, both psychologically and physically, upon the hater. Knowing this, is it possible that perhaps it is not in one's best interest to hate the religion? Or anything, for that matter? Didn't Jesus say to "love thy enemies"? (As a non-Christian, I still feel this is pretty good advice.)
Not hating, of course, does not mean liking or approving.
