What does your online handle mean?

a few of us use our real names as our handles, but most of us use something else, such as a nickname or a variation of our real name.

iiz2cool - it was not my nickname (i really don't think i'm all that cool), but that of an old friend named mike prezelj.

i won't go into how he got the name, but it happened when we were all very high, and you had to be there to understand.

I got Sabine from ancient Roman history, the rape of the Sabines.

A fter the foundation of Rome, the problem was to populate it. Romulus gathered the local shepherds but there were no women. What could he do? He thought to organize a feast, and invited the Sabines with their wives and daughters. During the feast, at a given sign, the young Romans kidnapped the women and put to flight the men. But some time later the Sabines, lead by Titus Tazio king of Curiti, a Sabine tribe,came back to free their women and to take revenge for the insult.

I related to the story because the Sabines thought they were invited to a feast and ended up being raped instead. I was lured in by a "spiritual feast" and was spiritually raped by the cult.

Your story really touched me...my daughter did comit suicide after the elders threatened to df her. I am not in the least surprized at how incompetent and horribly unloving the elders can be. After my daughters death I also got the do more speech. I was a pioneer and my daugher was also, I had to explain to them it would be difficult visiting my magazine calls since I had always visited them with my daughter...they still didn't get it. Well things escalated and I was accused of talking against the elders. The P.O. that "pushed my daughter over the edge" had the nerve to speculate to inquisitive publishers that my daughter wouldn't be resurrected.

You sound like a very loving husband, please get your wife some help as soon as possible. I live in seattle and there is a great sucide prevention organization that can give referrals to good counselors that specialize in suicidal patients, I'm sure they are in all major cities.

It was great getting to acquainted at the Orcas Island get together. You are a gentleman and a scholar my friend!

As far as the mid-age abdominal bulge - I have lost about 20 lbs in the past year, and hey, I am married to the workout nazi Sabine - its outta my control!

When we get to go to Maui we are regulars at a clothing optional beach. People from all over the world, all shapes and sizes, and all enjoying the surrounding natural beauty. It has had a profound affect on my outlook on life.

Freedom in all its forms is wonderful.

, what do you think ............ 1) will a jw parent allow their son/daughter date someone who is not a jw ???.

2) will a jw parent allow their son/daughter marry someone who is not a jw ???.

3) will a jw parent allow their kids to socialize with other kids after school or weekends ???.

Lets see, fanaticisim, intolerance, narrow mindedness...yes they are. As a minority who spent 35+ years in the cult, they are also guilty of bigotry and partiality, imho....

My 21 year old daughter committed suicide after the elders threatened to remove her as a pioneer and publicly reprove her. I let the elders read her suicide letter that stated how much she loved us and what great parents we were, but that she couldn't face the shame of being disfellowshipped. I was very "angry" and questioned why the elders had to speak to her alone (my husband and I were out of town on a business trip), the elders knew where we were and had our phone number. To punish me for speaking against and questioning the elders and to cover their own asses, the elders told everyone that her suicide was my fault....pretty much did it for me.

proplog2.. wrote this on another thread, and i would like to hear from others who may not have had a suicide in their own families to reply as well.

do you think that the jw religion has at least some blame or bloodguilt over some of the jw suicides?

i personally know they do, not all cases i am sure, but i know a large amount of them are cult related jw.......... remember we are not talking about just another religion, but a mind controlled cult known as jw's.

She left a suicide letter stating that Jehovah would not forgive her, that she had lied and since Satan is the father of the lie, she was under Satan's control, and that she couldn't face the shame of being publicly reproved and removed as a pioneer (she was a pioneer for 4 years right out of high school).

I don't think I am unjustly blaming her suicide on religious indoctrination. If you read her suicide letter, I think you would definately blame her suicide on the JW religion and it's practice of disfellowshipping.

Last summer another young man killed himself in parking lot of the Kingdom Hall we used to attend. He was having problems with the same P.O. that came and spoke to my daughter. Just a coincidence...I don't think so.

ok, here's the deal.. way back when i got df'd i kinda went wild.

started riding motorcycles, wore rock group t-shirts, got 3 earrings in my left ear, got a tattoo, and grew my hair long.

i had to cut it once back in '93 because my employer said to.

Mike you look great. I came to the post late, I was going to suggest getting extensions in the front to even the long hair out. I have toyed with extensions and they are fun, you can wash them very easily. If you miss your long hair, it's an option.....

i am always looking for new material and have about 150 jokes at my disposal.

I am a certifiable clown, my husband and I are so silly, we just play all the time. One quick example of my goofy sense of humor:

I had a puppy that I couldn't housebreak no matter what I tried. My husband was getting so tired of dodging poop on the floor, he was ready to put the puppy up for adoption. One day I was preparing dinner, and hear his car pull in. I was making humus (ground chickpeas) and had a silly thought. I put a mound of humus on the kitchen floor. When my husband came in he had that look like "not again"...before he said anything I bent over and scooped it up into my mouth. The look on his face for a split second was priceless.....

Inky got a letter from her son.............you have to read this

our niece, irene, who posts here as inky, sent me an email.

her 27 year old son is getting married in two weeks, and she posted a few days ago about how he didn't invite her to his wedding.. she told me i can post it as she doesn't want to read it again.. "dear mom.

i've needed to write this letter to you for some time now.

Sorry for the late response, my heart just sank when I read this letter. Makena mentioned it to me a few days ago, and

we both had the same feeling...what we wouldn't give to have a mother as kind and wonderful as you are!! He just

is so blinded by the cult, what a shame.

My mother is still in the cult, and unfortunately extremely mentally ill all of her life.

Makena's mom past away over 10 years ago. She was so sweet and loved unconditionally, we miss her so much.

You are such a beautiful person (inside and out), so warm, kind, intelligent, funny. Makena and I just think the

world of you. The look in your eyes when we told you our story, it just melts my heart when I remember. You hang in there,

and continue being the exceptionally loving mother you are. He will live to regret that letter someday!
