Yes, but not even attempting eye-contact? That's just bizarre. I spotted my first trolley after starting a new job in Warsaw. They were parked under a billboard that was about 60 ft. tall with a scantily clad beach babe. I was going to get a pic, but it seems like they wised up and moved down a bit.

Hey guys, If I can do it, you can do it. I am without a doubt the most non-assertive, go-along/get-along type of guy on the planet and yet, I don't go to meetings any more, and I am not going to meetings any more. If someone doesn't like it that is their problem. Wife is tolerant and we are actually talking about it. She knows I am not a bad guy. Of course in some ways my situation is easier because I have no other family in the borg. So the shunning tool is useless.
I understand your predicament if you have children and don't want to lose contact with them but you need to develop an exit plan that includes them, even if the wife in not going to cooperate. You might need to take one for the team - be there for your children when they need someone ouside the borg. I regret that I didn't do this myself much earlier. My son (now an adult and not active) does not blame me for raising him in the truth, but it plagues me that I didn't alllow him to experience a normal childhood. I know he would have loved to be involved with team sports.
What a waste...

First Post - Emotionally Torn
by scaredtospeak ini haven't been on here long but i found this site a couple days ago and quickly realised it had a lot of posts by people going through similar experiences as me.
i read some of the answers and it helped relieve some inner anguish i've been carrying since everything i came clean to my parents about everything i've been reading about.. .
i just have been going through a rough patch right now; that might be an under or overstatement depending on your own personal experiences with this kind of stuff.

Welcome, and I agree with what OEJ said. What's wrong with a continual search for truth? If we are really honest, we have to consider that everything we ever knew was wrong. That doesn't have to be a bad thing... Keep us posted on your journey. Regards from an old guy in Poland who wishes he was in your shoes (waking up early).

It is understandable if you are still attending meetings that you have to blow off some steam. The sooner you stop, and work your way through the resulting CF, the sooner you can get on with being the real you. Of course, there is always the chance you won't be happy with the authentic Data-Dog, but at least you can deal with it on your own terms and you won't have to suffer through any more meetings.

Humans have been on the earth for 6,000 years?
by make yourself inso i just heard this today at the meeting.
honestly i've never really paid much attention too it, but i know it's out of place.
can anyone shed some factual and historical light on this subject?

I think perhaps, everyone is missing JB's point. He is not saying (I hope) that there was no human activity on the earth long before the supposed creation date of Adam (according to WT) in 4026... I thought he was just saying that before writing came about, and actually quite a bit of time after that, there was no concept of creating a historical record of anything. The concept of creating a written, historical record of past events was actually a much later event. Most of early writing attempts are not at all attempts to provide a historical record.
A good question is actually: who was the first historian?

Don't Miss the Meetings - Hebrews 10:24, 25 Re-examined
by Oubliette ini recently got an unsolicited lecture from a well-intentioned but nevertheless misguided jw friend.
the gist of it was that i needed to go to all the meetings or i would miss out on "everlasting life.".
i responded that i do not need to go to meetings to have a relationship with god.

Marked. Needed for discussion for wife this week. She was very disappointed that I did not attend the meeting today (conclusion of CO visit). We had a brief discussion before she left and agreed to continue our bible reading/discussions. She said she also has some scriptures she wants to get my viewpoint on, and this for sure will probably be the first.

What do you do when your job makes you wanna puke your face off?
by Julia Orwell ini'm talking like makes you physically sick and emotionally frazzled just thinking about it.
i'm talking like you hate it to the point you'd rather go without than work at it just for the money.
you'd live on cheap korean packet noodles for the next year instead of exchanging your labor for this job's money.. well, this is how i feel about teaching and tutoring.

Julia, go with your passion. You have the talent and you like it. Maybe you were never really cut out to be a teacher (or involved in education system) to begin with. I had a friend who left teaching english in public schools (in Poland) because of the lack of interest on student's part and went to strictly private lessons. She is very happy now. All her students are there, because they want to be. Probably once, long ago teaching was really rewarding. I've done a lot of professional training and it can be rewarding - just depends on the audience.
But back to the art. Don't give up on that. Part of the problem with being a JW is that all of our passions and interests were forced to the back burner to put kingdom interests first. You would have time for that later. Right... We sacrificed careers and passions for the borg. What a shame. You are still young, so you have time to pursue 'your' interests. It sounds like your husband is supportive, and if you are willing to do seasonal work to help out, go for it.
Nice work on your FB page. Don't give up.
