In contrast with the JWs, they are a more family-friendly religion. Also, according to the late Raymond Franz, Nathan Knorr himself once volunteered that the Mormons “look after their people better” than do the JWs.

It’s Freedom of Religion gone too far.
I am pleased to hear somebody acknowledge that no freedoms are absolute!

Two world wars were fought upholding such rights as Freedom of Worship. Too many people died in both for me to want to interfere with that! (Read, if somebody wants to attend a church service, then let them).
Personally, though - to quote the late Minimus - I am definitely in a condition best described as “ Religioned Out”.

No beards...even Jesus! Strange Watchower rule for brothers!
by Witness 007 inwatchtower 1954 p.511 "why do watchtower publications now show jesus with short hair and no beard?
because he is shown that way in older representations of him that are older then the traditional effeminate looking pictures.".
watchtower 1968 p.286 "bible evidence and a recent review shows that jesus did have a beard..." charles russell style of beard was popular at bethel...till rutherford took over.

The ban on beards seems to be very much an institutionalised thing amongst the JWs. Even in those countries - such as Papua New Guinea - where men commonly wear beards, the ban on beards remains amongst the JWs.
And when I first started getting involved with that lot, I remember them claiming not to have any “man made rules”!

there are two main questions i have.

Having worked for several recent years as a maintenance electrician in a large meat processing facility, I can confirm that the animals are rendered unconscious first, before being killed when their throats are slashed. Cattle are knocked unconscious by means of a pneumatic hammer applied to the forehead. Sheep are rendered unconscious from an electric shock applied behind the ears. As to suffering, animals can sense death, and know what is coming. That is why it usually requires the use of an electric “cattle prod” to drive them up the race and into the “knock-box”. I always took the view that “people have to eat”.

JW’s and Charity Organizations
by longgone ini was wondering if anyone is aware of the jw’s in general being involved financially and/or as volunteers in charity organizations?
i was a born in jw for 56 years and left in 2016. as far as i remember there was never any encouragement to help in the community in any way.
including soup kitchens, tutoring at schools, united way, etc.

They certainly don't mind accepting charity, even from religious organisations. In fact, the elders even once directed me to Presbyterian Social Services for assistance. Cheeky buggers!

But the basic question is did or did not Zelensky say what he's quoted as saying.
It would seem that Zelensky did indeed make that appeal for calm:
Ukraine's leaders appeal for calm and say attack is not imminent - as Russia makes combat readiness inspections near border (yahoo.com) (As reported by SkyNews)
Ukraine Appeals for Calm, Says Russian Invasion Not Imminent (ntd.com)
Ukraine Appeals for Calm, Says Russian Invasion Not Imminent (ntd.com)
As FullTimeStudent correctly observed, though, you wouldn't get that impression from reading our major daily newspapers!

Suit, shirt and tie
by JoenB75 ini always hated suit, shirt and tie and wondered why men of all walks of life should be forced to wear these uncomfortable clothes and spend the money on them.
it should be remembered some of the worst people wear them, like creepy joe, putin, dirty corrupt frauds in business, law etc.
and of course al capone.

The last two times I have worn a suit was to a funeral, and it was noteworthy that I was the only person there doing so. Point taken! From now onwards, the bloody thing will be mothballed.

Australian bethelites helped the war and soldiers during W.W.2!!
by Witness 007 inaustralia bethel is even today near a military barracks.
in world war 2 the head of bethel agreed to wash military uniforms at bethel to make extra cash.
meanwhile brothers around the world were in jail for refusing to even put on a military uniform or even perform any non military work.

McGillveray, or something similar, and Canadian in origin, I have heard said. Whatever, during those years, this person was a frequent visitor to Randwick Racecourse.
