Consider, too, the way the WTS introduces sexual conversations to children.
The book Learn From The Great Teacher, Lesson 10, talks about how angels desired earthly women, forsook their heavenly place and had "sex relations" with them, producing the Nephilim. It says when the Flood came, these bad angels became Satan's demons. Later in the lesson they talk about how "sex relations" is only proper between a married husband and wife, and how it makes the demons happy when boys and girls play with each other's penis and vulva.
Really.

The TOPIC which may never be discussed!
by Terry inquestion: how does the leadership of jehovah's witnesses instruct its members to prepare for the eventual elder care of its members?.
answer: it pretends it will never happen!.
is this responsible leadership or some kind of cognitive dissonant malfeasance?.

I think about that whenever I see my parents.
There are so many JWs unprepared for retirement - no pension, no savings. So many don't even have a house that they could use for a reverse mortgage to help them financially. The WTS expects them to shun family members who leave the JWs, but then think nothing of telling them to expect these same shunned family members to bail them out financially when it becomes necessary.
Oh, and don't forget to leave everything you own to the WTS!!! (hopefully a mountain of debt!!)

I have all the books in audiobook format - I love listening to it in the car or while I'm doing something else. Episode 9 was so well done - even though I knew what was coming, the scene was more shocking than I could have imagined.

The thing is, when I got Baptized™ in 1980, I did NOT make a dedication to an organization. Here is what I said YES to:
(1) Have you recognized yourself before Jehovah God as a sinner who needs salvation, and have you acknowledged to him that this salvation proceeds from him the Father through his Son Jesus Christ?
(2) On the basis of this faith in God and in his provision for salvation, have you dedicated yourself unreservedly to God to do his will henceforth as he reveals it to you through Jesus Christ and through the Bible under the enlightenment of the holy spirit?" ~ Watchtower 1956 Jul 1 p.407
Five years later, they change the rules and try to say that I agreed to this:
The first question is:
On the basis of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to Jehovah to do his will? The second is:
Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in association with God's spirit-directed organization? Having answered yes to these questions, candidates are in a right heart condition to undergo Christian baptism." ~ Watchtower 1985 Jun 1 p.30The problem with this is that they have removed from me the privilege of having "the enlightenment of the holy spirit" or having God's will revealed directly to me through Jesus and through the Bible. Instead, I must be part of an organization that claims to be spirit directed, without having any recourse when they screw up. I can't disagree with them. I can't petition them for clarification. I can't openly refute their teachings. I have to shut my mouth in order to remain in association with the people I care about, in order to maintain a relationship with my family and friends. If I can't do that, I am risking social suicide.

comatose:
I just don't get the classes. Jesus didn't teach two groups. It's so crazy to go against 1 Timothy 2:5
According to the WTS, he did. They refer to the Little Flock™ as being the 144,000 who rule in heaven with Jesus, while the Other Sheep™ have the Earthly Hope™ of Living Forever In Paradise™.
"Have no fear, little flock, because your Father has approved of giving you the kingdom." ~ Luke 12:32
"But I have other sheep, who are not of this fold, those also I must bring." ~ John 10:16
Don't forget that 1 Timothy was allegedly written by Paul.
And, for what it's worth, the concept of Jesus being the mediator for only the Anointed™ has been around for a long time - I was Baptized™ in 1980 and that was the teaching at the time:

• Is Jesus the “mediator” only for anointed Christians?
The term “mediator” occurs just six times in the Christian Greek Scriptures and Scripturally is always used regarding a formal covenant.
Moses was the “mediator” of the Law covenant made between God and the nation of Israel. (Gal. 3:19, 20) Christ, though, is the “mediator of a new covenant” between Jehovah and spiritual Israel, the “Israel of God” that will serve as kings and priests in heaven with Jesus. (Heb. 8:6; 9:15; 12:24; Gal. 6:16) At a time when God was selecting those to be taken into that new covenant, the apostle Paul wrote that Christ was the “one mediator between God and men.” (1 Tim. 2:5) Reasonably Paul was here using the word “mediator” in the same way he did the other five times, which occurred before the writing of 1 Timothy 2:5, referring to those then being taken into the new covenant for which Christ is “mediator.” So in this strict Biblical sense Jesus is the “mediator” only for anointed Christians.
The new covenant will terminate with the glorification of the remnant who are today in that covenant mediated by Christ. The “great crowd” of “other sheep” that is forming today is not in that new covenant. However, by their associating with the “little flock” of those yet in that covenant they come under benefits that flow from that new covenant. During the millennium Jesus Christ will be their king, high priest and judge. For more detailed information, see Aid to Bible Understanding, pages 1129 and 1130 under “Mediator”; also God’s “Eternal Purpose” Now Triumphing for Man’s Good, page 160, paragraph 10; also The Watchtower issues of February 15, 1966, pages 105 through 123; November 15, 1972, pages 685 and 686, under the subheading “Leading the Way to a New Covenant”; and April 1, 1973, pages 198 and 199, under the subheading “The New Covenant.”

They haven't called on us in years. Last time they called it was the CO and some teenaged boy, I told them I left because the congregation treated me like crap when I was ill with postpartum depression - to the point that I was suicidal. I told them I could never trust the congregation again after the way they abused me when my family and I needed their support the most. The CO was dumbfounded... just stood there stunned like I'd slapped him across the face.
PWNed!!!!!
