Well isn't this a bunch of BS
by Doctor Who inwell, our sister congregation just had their co visit this past week.
on saturday afternoon, i was talking to a couple of ministerial servants in that congregation and they stated that an unmarried brother is not fulfilling to the max what jehovah wants of us.
they stated that the co went on a tirade that if you are unmarried you are being selfish and not following what jehovah wanted for mankind since he created eve as a compliment for the man.

Caleb & Sophia RC badges

oppostate:
Now this emphasis on cartoon videos, coercing children into giving up their ice-cream money--they're like the wicked cannibal in Hansel and Gretel, waiting to devour children for their own purposes.
Don't forget the praise for 5-year-olds who get Baptized™. The sickening part is that the kids want to do it because of the praise they get for doing it. They don't even realize that they can't change their mind (as 5-year-olds are wont to do) later on without losing everyone they care about.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
That's what Jesus instructed, right? In the Sermon on the Mount, right?
So, what, pray tell, has the Governing Body™ and its earthly Remnant™ done with the financial support given them by the Great Crowd™?
1. They have not built hospitals, soup kitchens, homeless shelters or shelters for battered women and children. Instead they have constructed bigger and better facilities for themselves, several times over, in several countries around the world.
2. They have not protected children in their midst from sexual predators in their midst. Instead, they have staunchly refused to give these children any support. The children and their families have been silenced under threat of expulsion while sexual predators are permitted free reign in Congregations™, Circuit Assemblies™, District Conventions™ and in the Door-to-Door™ Ministry™ (aka Field Service™). Any financial gains by victims of sexual abuse are hard won in the courts. Shame on you, Watchtower!
3. They have created a veritable cash cow for themselves by having Congregations™ collect money to pay for the property toward the construction of new Kingdom Halls™ and other Meeting™ venues. The WTS lends an equal amount to that collected for the property. This Debt™, for some reason, is never paid off. Well, it is, but then the WTS Lovingly™ decides to charge a Per Publisher™ amount each month that goes directly into the coffers of the WTS. Every damn month, in perpetuity. For yet another reason, the WTS can direct that the property be sold whenever they deem fit, with the proceeds going directly into WTS coffers. The reason seems to involve the words Loyalty™, Obedience™ and Self-Sacrifice™, not to mention the words "because we can get away with it, you stupid fools."
4. Their legal battles, once the stuff of courtroom legend in the fight for Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Worship rights, are now an embarrassing motley of defending indefensible policies that offer a safe haven for pedophiles and helping poorly educated people end their lives or the lives of minor children for lack of blood transfusion. As well, the fundamental rights and freedoms for which they've fought so strenuously in the courts are denied to rank and file members. Want to disagree with something Published™ in the Watchtower™? Prepare to be called into the back room at the Kingdom Hall™ and have the word Apostate™ bandied about in association with your name. Want to tell your fellow Witnesses™ that Elder™ XYZ diddled your 9-year-old daughter, to protect their daughters?? Expect an invitation to the back room at the Kingdom Hall™ with the threat of being Disfellowshipped™ for Slandering™ Elder™ XYZ's reputation in the Congregation™.
Well done, Watchtower™! [/sarcasm]
This is not a complete or in any way a comprehensive list of crimes against humanity perpetrated by the WTS. The fact that they have millions of Sheep™ around the world who are ready and willing to accept this demeaning and dehumanizing treatment allows them to continue to operate. It will only stop when JWs realize they don't have to take it, and they don't have to continue to open their wallets in support of a greedy, money-grubbing, self-serving cabal of evil, deviant men.
Stop feeding the monster, Friends™. Starve it to death.

How do you manage to keep JW friendships after you left the organization?
by Bonsai init seems incredibly difficult.
those who leave the org.
(or fade) no longer have anything in common with jehovah's witnesses, nor do they want to stick around to get radiated by the fear and guilt that saturates every aspect of a witnesses' life.. i've lost all but one of my jw friends quite simply because i can no longer condone the evil things that they condone.
-

Why would you want to maintain a friendship with a Loyal™ JW. To them, you're nothing more than extra time and a Return Visit™ on their monthly report. You're a project. You're being used to pad their hours, so they can slack off in Field Service™.
And if you say anything to them that's remotely suspicious, or confide anything to them that you wouldn't want to get back to the Elders™, it's almost guaranteed that they will rat you out at the first opportunity.

It came in today's mail
by Virgochik init came today, the dreaded envelope containing my personal copy of "return to jehovah" from my elderly, desperate mother.
it included a small note asking me to read it over and to let her know what i think.
she got it at her assembly.. firstly, i'm angry that she continues to push her religion on me, given that i stopped attending meetings over thirty years ago, and very offended that she assumes that i still want to be a witness, which is her choice of religion, not mine.

Ask her how she would feel and what she would do if you started "sharing" with her any literature, websites, etc. that describe your beliefs.
You already know the answer to this. She has been instructed to not even open such material. In to the trash it goes!
You also know her motivation: She's hoping against all evidence to the contrary, that you might somehow be swayed to return to the JWs. She wants this for you because she loves you and wants you to be spared at Armageddon™ so you can Live Forever In Paradise On Earth™.
However, by asking her how she would feel if you did the same sort of thing to her, you can open a conversation about how disrespected you feel when she does this. She knows your position, and yet continues to disregard your feelings of being disrespected and offence by sending you JW literature.
You could say something like, "Mom, I love you very much, and I respect your beliefs enough to resist the impulse to try to change your beliefs or even try to talk to you about what I believe. I know what the Witnesses teach - you taught me very well - and I would appreciate it if you would respect my informed decision and not try to change my mind about this. We can talk about anything else you like, and I would prefer to keep our relationship without the strain that discussions about religion create for both of us."

What is their position on IVF?
by voodoo lady infor example, if a married couple had fertility issues relating to the male partner's sperm, could they use a donor?.
is it frowned upon in a more general sense because people should be preaching rather than procreating?.

And yet.... Jehovah purportedly transferred the life force of his Son, Jesus, to the womb of Mary, who was already betrothed to Joseph...
Seems like AI and surrogacy suited Jehovah just fine in that instance. It wasn't porneia then, was it now??

Best Argument for Atheism - In your view.
by LAWHFol inif crisis of conscience is one of the top watchtower doctrine killers, what is the coc of theism?.
i'd like to read a book, or other material that does the best job logically arguing for atheism.. i've not read any darwin, however it is my assumption that his focus is primarily on evolution, is this correct?
if you were to recommend one book or a few pieces of reading material, which do the best job of defending atheism, what would they be?.

The Better Angels of Our Nature, by Steven Pinker. It's a very long read, but worthwhile. It disproves religious arguments regarding how the world is getting worse and worse, and instead shows how science has improved the state of the world.
I also agree that God is Not Great and The God Delusion are excellent choices too.

Breeding Ground for Sex offenders
by enigma1863 inthe watchtower would never claim that they want child molesters in their congregations.
no 'respectable' organization would.
that doesnt mean they are doing anything to prevent it though.
-
Scully
Here's a thought:
Anyone in the JWs with personal knowledge of a child molester in their congregation or circuit/district should boycott any official JW event (Meetings™, Field Service™, Circuit Assemblies™, District Conventions™, Special Assembly Days™) and cut off any financial support for the WTS. If the Elders™ ask you about it, you tell them that you have personal knowledge of an individual in the Congregation™/Circuit™/District™ and that you will not be associated with a group who allows such individuals such liberal access to children, both inside the Congregations™ and in the Field Ministry™, and that you do not wish to have your children exposed to such individuals, nor do you wish to be responsible for inviting outsiders to associate with such individuals or facilitate access to the children of outsiders to pedophiles. Your conscience does not allow you to perpetuate these practices.
When you play the Conscience™ card, a typical JW does not know how to respond to that, because if they expect/encourage/instruct you to ignore your Conscience™ on such an important matter, they would create a Stumbling Block™ for you, and thus become Bloodguilty™.
I've used this tactic a couple of times with excellent results.
