What Should People Know About Jehovah's Witnesses

a couple of very basic questions for you good folks.. 1)imagine that you are joe public who has never had any real contact with jehovah's witnesses.

none of your family are, or your friends.

you occasionally say "not interested" to them on saturday mornings.

I think you and I have similar thoughts regarding the WTS and its use of "Theocratic War Strategy". Without "Theocratic War Strategy" the WTS could not exist anymore. It's the rust that's holding the old jalopy of the WTS together.

Two men applied for the job. One was gay and the other a drunk. She thought long and hard about it, and when no one else applied, she decided to hire the gay guy, figuring it would be safer to have him around the house than the drunk.

He proved to be a hard worker who put in long hours every day and knew a lot about ranching. For weeks, the two of them worked, and the ranch was doing very well.

Then one day, the rancher's widow said to the hired hand, "You have done a really good job and the ranch looks great. You should go into town and kick up your heels." The hired hand readily agreed and went into town one Saturday night.

However, one o'clock came and he didn't return. Two o'clock and no hired hand. He returned around two-thirty and found the rancher's widow sitting by the fireplace. She quietly called him over to her.

"Unbutton my blouse and take it off," she said. Trembling, he did as she directed.

"Now take off my boots." He did so, slowly.

"Now take off my socks." He did.

"Now take off my skirt." He did.

"Now take off my bra." Again with trembling hands he did as he was told.

"Now," she said, "take off my panties." He slowly pulled them down and off.

Then she looked at him and said, "Don't you ever wear my clothes to town again!"

having a hard time with dateline eh?.

i admire what you are trying to do in behalf of all those that have been sexually abused, but i believe you are going about it in the wrong way.. you have taken up a fight against jehovah himself and this is futile.

the organization has some flaws, as is expected of any imperfect organization.

He cleanses the organization at the right time but he would never do it through the hands of someone that is opposed as you are.
I, like yourself, also believe that child abusers are sick and must be dealt with the strongest severity. But each case must be taken care of one by one.

If it's true that Jehovah is backing up an organization that has rules in place which protect child abusers instead of innocent children who are the victims of child abusers, then how can any honest-hearted person want ANYTHING to do with a "god" who 'backs up' such disgusting practices??

Sacrificing children in this way is not something that "Jehovah" approves. This is 'a thing that He has not commanded and that had not come up into His heart'. Jeremiah 7:31

There is no amount of Theocratic War Strategy that can be used to justify even ONE pedophile's existence within "God's clean organization".

Sorry, YoYoMaMa. You're wrong on this one.

What is your fondest/or not memory of cargroup ...

the compassionate toliet thread brought this frightening memory to mind.... the field service assignments!.

did you all have the same feeling of dread of being stuck with a particular person.. knowing that you would have to listen to their dribble throughout the day.. or listening to that poor sister's sinus condition where she would make that, for lack of a better way to describe it, hock-a-luegy sound with her nasal passages every 10 minutes.

then lets not forget the positive side.. how you wished with glee, and finally got to work with the car group that would goof off half of the day and the other day go to not-at-homes that would definitely still be not-at-homes.. *************************************.

Not too many good memories, other than those 15-minute breaks at the coffee shop...... but the bad ones...... oh my, tons of those!!

** When I was about 8 years old, we were working in a wealthy area of the territory, and the properties had LONGGGGGGGGG driveways. So the brother in charge of our car group decided it would be smart to drive between calls because it was horribly cold and drizzly outside, and we treated it kind of like doing return visits. Two would get out, walk down the long driveway to make the call for however long it took, come back to the car, and then drive to the next driveway, where another two would make the call. This worked for a while, and then my mom (who was driving) realized that we'd gotten stuck in a slushy area at one call. She tried backing up, and the wheels spun. She tried going forward, and the wheels spun. The more she would spin the tires, the deeper into the slush/mud the car would go. We tried rocking the car, which didn't work. Anyway, the homeowner came out and started yelling at us, not just for disturbing his privacy, but for wrecking his scrupulously manicured landscaping. He threatened to call the police. I was terrified! My mom was pregnant at the time and broke down and cried, she was so upset. The homeowner ended up calling a tow truck instead. Once the tow truck came and hauled us out of the hole, he asked if we knew who lived in the house. He informed us that it was the man who owned the Molson Corporation!

Another time, during a Circuit Overseer's visit, I was working with Sister Circuit Overseer. Again it was mid winter and I was freezing because of having to wear a skirt and dressy boots with nylons. My hands were numb, and the pain was excruciating whenever I had to knock on the door. I was maybe 12 years old. The CO had been trying to encourage everyone to work as long as possible, despite the cold. Up here in Canada, it was not unusual for the temperatures to plummet to -30C (-22F), not accounting for wind chill. We had been working for almost 2 hours straight. One minute I was walking along the road with Sister CO, the next thing I remember I was in the car with several coats on top of me with the heater blasting on my legs and hands. I had been so cold that I lost consciousness. My face was white and my lips were cyanotic. I stayed in the car for the rest of the morning.

<sigh> I'm glad I never put my own kids through that kind of crap!

i was just reading through the codes for my city (irving, tx) and discovered something interesting: a person or organization must register with the city secretary's office before they can go house-to-house for religious reasons (aka, jehovah's witnesses going door-to-door).. .

Maybe a print out of that by-law featured in a flyer that says "Next time JWs come to your door, CALL THE POLICE!" would be very useful. I think your neighbours will love you for it.

Interestingly, my friends have predictably been shocked and horrified at the pedophile/blood issues, but the shunning seems to have a more immediate effect on them. Not sure why.

Question for xjw parents of youngsters........

i'm in need of advice or just other opinions or experiences.

this is kinda directed to xjw's who have spent their whole lives in the org and had to leave lifelong friends and family behind when they left.

especially, single parents..if there are any others out there i'd like to hear from you.. my question has to do with what system you have in place to make sure of your childs future in the event of something happening to you.

I understand completely where you're coming from, flower.

If you're going to write a will, you will have to specify that under NO CIRCUMSTANCES do you want him raised as a Jehovah's Witness. You do not have to defend your decision to anyone, and the judge (should you pass on and your son requires guardianship) will respect your wishes. There are non-JW relatives, and you say that their lifestyle is not the kind of environment you'd want for your son either, and that's fair too. I think you're beginning to see the kinds of dilemmas that arise when we xJW adults neglect our own need for friendship and socialization and focus mainly on our children. It's very important for you to get involved in your community, make friends of your own (maybe a single mothers' group?) so you can start building trusting relationships with other people again. I'm fortunate to have a married brother who never became a JW, and he's agreed to be my children's guardian should anything ever happen to my husband and me. My husband also has non-JW relatives who would be glad to do the same.

Personally, I hope someday you'll meet a great guy who treats you like a queen, and will think of your son as his own. This is the kind of person who ideally should have the privilege of raising your son.

I agree with you that the WTS should be forced to publically get around this doctrine. They use it in the court system, they use it in the press, they use it on unsuspecting people in the door-to-door work. They even use it on their own congregations, as evidenced in the UN-NGO issue. Public confrontations about Theocratic War Strategy, by individual householders to individual JWs is going to cause a huge case of cognitive dissonance within the ranks, imo.
