New a good term instead of born-again
by Skeptic ini have been associated with many religious groups over the years, mainly the catholics, jehovah's witnesses, and various evangelical born-again groups.. i often use the term born-again on this forum.
i normally mean born-again in reference to evangelical born-again groups, "fundies", etc.. a couple of posters here have told me that they find the way i used the term born-again offensive.
they rightly tell me that most christians believe that they are born-again...hence, my comments offend them.. so, folks, can we come up with a more accurate term?

sometimes you give up one soulmate to only to find a better one later.. many years ago, i had met my soulmate.

Can Anyone Actually Live By JW Rules/Suggestions?
by Skeptic ini seriously doubt that anyone could actually live strictly by the jw rules and "suggestions" give by the society and the congregation.
like the catholic church, there are now so many rules you cannot follow them all.
unlike the catholic church, the dubs to not allow you to use your head and deviate when you want.. i remember my first wife struggling to live by dub rules.

Canadian Chaperons
by Skeptic ini am amazed at some of the things that jws in the states worry about that canuck jws do not worry about.
chaperones are one area.. i remember reading in the mags that dating couples should have chaperones but have never heard of it being practiced, except in the u.s.. in canada, we figure if you are strong enough in the truth, you don't need a chaperone.
does some hanky-panky happen from time to time?

How Westernized Christianity Is

mind you, i have only been exposed to the north american version of christianity.
what made me think of this was how people today find the practice of polygamy to be disgusting.

Things that did not make sense when I was active.
by Skeptic ininspired by englishman's post, i decided to list a few things that i disagreed with as a jw.. 1) jacob lied.. i disagreed with the wtbs on this even before i was baptised.
it is pretty obvious.
the elders agreed to baptise me if i kept my mouth shut about it.. 2) that jehovah is a loving and just god.. hitler killed 6 million jews and is considered to be one of the most evil men in history.
