The NHS defense of vaccines sounds much like the WT explaining it's doctrines, maybe, likely, might.....😅

From what I understood when I read the governments website regarding religious charities, it's part of the 501c3 agreement that they hold religious services in their churches for the local community.
I imagine that becoming a solely televangelist corporation would require a different charity status to the regular 501c3.

Touchofgrey I agree, and the Bible translations we have are indeed unreliable at best, and open to the worst of interpretation, as history proves so clearly. That's why I've come to the conclusion that no body is actually able to or authorised to 'explain or teach' the Bible meanings.
If God or Jesus meant us to worship them by means of the interpretation of scripture, I am 100% sure they would have at least provided us with a fool proof manual or set of instructions. They did not, so we're obviously looking in the wrong place and arguing over nothing.
Whether Jesus actually walked the earth or not, we probably can't prove it without a shadow of a doubt. The fact that the man (or idea of him) has been worshipped, adored, died for, during the past 2000 years makes me think someone like that did inspire people around him enough to cause the flame he stirred to still exist today.
We could choose to focus on the evils of Christianity, the crusades, the wars, the oppression and cruelty done in it's name, or we could look at the basic teachings attributed to a man called Jesus, and think about how, if we lived by those, what would the earth be like?
Organised religion, religious corporations, and anyone else who preaches and prophesies AND asks for money to do so, by my personal deliberations, gets the no confidence vote. Any one who lives by the two commandments, to Love God and Neighbour (my belief is that to love God means to also love everything God entrusted to our care ; earth and animals), is part of the greater good, some call that the Fifth Dimension, others call it God's Kingdom. If everyone lived by those two teachings, this earth would be pretty amazing.
It's actually that simple. Whoever you believe wrote those two teachings first, Moses, Jesus, whoever, was onto something.
It's up to us to choose if we want to be a part of the solution, to love, or a part of the problem, to fight, argue and hate. Arguing over the details that are in the Bible has been done for 2000 years, it will never be resolved, because us being right or wrong isn't the point. Being motivated by love or by self, THAT is the point and the choices we have.

JWs are not really taught about grace, they are taught faith by works, they've even erased the word from their Bible and replaced it with undeserved kindness which is a very weird way to translate the feelings, mercy and salvation that the heavenly Father extends towards his earthly children.
When I was a witness that word was taboo, we disliked the sound of it, it wasn't a 'JW.org' word.
I really don't understand why they shy away from grace so much. Now that I have children, I can better understand how grace is the ability for a parent to extend pure love, forgiveness and mercy to a wayward child who repents, and even before they have repented, even if it was for murder or whatever. They just don't get it.

1/25 WT: Oral and Anal sex are a go - if she's ok with it
by neat blue dog inhe will not pressure her to engage in sexual acts that make her feel uncomfortable, that are demeaning, or that bother her conscience..... the bible does not provide details as to what sexual practices between a husband and a wife should be considered clean or unclean.
a christian couple must make decisions that reflect their resolve to honor jehovah, to please each other, and to maintain a clean conscience.
generally speaking, a couple would not discuss with others this intimate aspect of their marriage..

1 peter 3:7 shows how Roman laws affected the perception of the Bible writers just he same as regular people. Nowhere else in the Bible does it say that women are weaker, only there.
The Romans didn't believe women were physically capable of gymnastics and sports, so they generally didn't allow it. Just like they thought women and girls weren't able for an education like men, their 'weaker' referred to mental weakness as well as physical.
Bible writers were not immune to sexist beliefs held by their culture of the day.
In the 21st century we know better, women live longer than men, that's physical and mental strength, just for starters.
We need to stop quoting verses that are downright wrong as truth, look at the cultural setting of the Bible writers, dig into their laws and customs, to understand why they said certain things. Not everything written down came from God.

We haven't witnessed Jehovah do anything either, it was only the nation of Israel who did, and the Egyptians I guess.
So they're witnesses of nothing at all then.

Being a jw is what it was like to be a catholic in Ireland 40/50 years ago, just without the countrywide infrastructure.
If the GB could get away with magdalene laundries, workhouses, and corporal punishment at meetings they probably would.
