by Amazing inex-jw women: i, and i assume other ex-jw men, would enjoy hearing your views, opinions, feelings, analysis, and conclusions about your jw experience.
how did you feel about your husband, fathers, brothers, elders, ms's, and other women in the organizations?
did you generally feel oppression, and why?

Mental torture
by stuckinamovement init is pretty interesting to see the mental, emotional and physical impact that people have when realize the teachings of the org are lies.
i am not going to name any names or point fingers but i can say i have tremendous empathy for those who are recently aware.. let me splane,.
now that i know about the lies that i have been taught and subsequently taught people myself, i have become like a lost person.

Until you move past the anger and how to cope, the WT cult is still controlling you. Don't give them that.
You can't change what is in the past, so keep moving forward and appriciate the fact that this cult did not control you for your entire life. You got out, many do not! That is something to be happy about!
I found that once I spent the needed time to de-program myself from the borg, spending less time at ex-jw sites helped for me to reduce the emotional effects.

I tried it once at age 40 with a 23 y/o. It was a bit weird that I was only a couple years younger than her dad. I found older is the way to go. Less drama, more experienced, had more in common, no little kids that can come with a younger woman.

"How did you ever come to be dating this guy in the first place? Do you realize that it is probably because as a non-JW girl, you were a lot more "fun" to be with, and unlikely to go running to the elders when he pressed you for sexual favors?"
This is a good question considering there are something like 5 available women for every available man in this religion. And look how often we hear these same kind of stories here on a regular basis.
I think the religion itself is responsible for this phenomenon. Who would buy a car without a test drive first? Not most people, and you can always trade a bad car later. Yet this is what they expect when it comes to choosing a life long partner. With a 5 to 1 ratio of women to men, why the need to even look elsewhere? Just another sick symptom of this high control cult .

Dan, I don't post as much here as I used to. However your experience sounds very familiar to mine. I spent 1 year doing my own research without sharing anything with others. When I told my wife that I would not go to meetings any longer she went crazy. I never even got the chance to do it one time. The next day she said she wanted a divorce and also told me she did not love me anymore. I was devistated at the time, it was truly the lowest point in my life and had many of the same feelings you have expressed on this thread. I got zero support from people at the KH, but got great support from 'worldly' people that I worked with.
Fast forward five years. It was the best thing she ever did for me. Yes, it will be hard in the short run, but in the long run you will be much happier then selling out just to keep your family in tact. You will end up resenting her and hating her in the long term if you are not true to yourself. I feel your pain, I was there, I lived it, I lost my wife, home, car, custody of children. It was a dark time while living it. However better days await you on the other side.
My only regret now, is that it didn't happen sooner.
I hope you can work it out, but if you can't, just know that it does get better.
A life away from all 'JWs' is far better for me than anything that I could dream up in my own mind that includes living with one. But that is just me.

I contacted DISK support and they said that fox tried to jack up the price for RX & NATGEO by 50% and they are currently in negotiations with them because that is to high of a hike and want to keep prices down for customers. They asked to give them some time to work through negotiations.
I told them I would give them a few weeks but will also start paying more attention to the sweet deals directtv keeps sending me trying to get me to switch.

you came home from work one day, sat down, and turned on the tv.
there is a sudden announcement that the un has banned all religion.

Before all of that could happen, there has to be a "king of the north".
Who is the "king of the north" these days?

I used to sit during the National Anthem. That was until the congregation planned an outting after an assembly to a MLB game. There was a whole section resevered for the group. We got there, found the section and we were the only ones in the entire group of about 30 Jdubs that were in the section prior to the start of the game.
During the National Anthem, I sat like a good Jdub because I knew many more were there, however as soon as it was over all of the rest of the Jdubs came out of the wood work like cock roaches after the light gets turned on from the hall ways & up to the seats. We are talking elders, MS servents, pioneers, lots of blue blooded JWs. I thought, what a bunch of pussies and I never sat again after that day.
