many here have been raised as witnesses.
others were introduced to the "truth" through various forms of witnessing.
what was the common denominator for remaining a witness for the time that we have?
I was 'found' in the door to door work and the lovely person who contacted me and I hit it off personality wise. She was funny and down to earth.
On the intellectual side, I had been reading (studying) the Bible for at least 15 years and seeing how the doctrins the Bible teaches would not correlate with my Lutheran upbringing. On my own I did not believe in the trinity, heaven, hell, emortal soul, so when Jeaneane came to the door the first time, she was surprised that I kew who the Father was by name, etc. I devowerd the Let God Be True book in less than a week. The JW main doctrines seemed to be right on the mark. As time went on I did the slow fade because as an org. it appeared to me they were going way beyond the Bible, getting into judging that belonged to Jehovah and Christ alone, and after experiencing several congregations (hubby of the time thought frequent moves would separate me from the org.), noticed that there was a definate lack of the Fruitage of the Spirit. Started fading in '73, after the divorce, and after 10 yrs. of being very active. I do not believe they are Jehovah's org. because of their 'fruitage' over the years.
The best thing that ever happend to me was meeting and marrying my 'worldly' husband, Bud, who is a living example of Rom.12:13-16.
"Crisis of Conscience" and "In Search of Christian Freedom" by Ray Franz, which I learned about through this board, after finally getting a computer, verified my logic and gut feelings.

Thank You , Englishman and Her Ladyship, for the very clever combination hot pad-oven mitt-potholder; what I wanted and really needed. The refrigerator magnets exactly match the accent color of my kitchen ( how did you know that ???) !!!!!!!!!!
A suprising side benefit is that every time I go into the kitchen now and see the mitt hanging and the magnets on the frig I am constantly reminded of all you wonderful people here on this board - absolutely warming the cockles of my heart - and the special thought and effort of Englishman and Her Ladyship in making my Christmas brighter.

what's the worse thing you ever did while drunk (assuming we've all been drunk).........when i was 16, we all got blitzed out of our minds at a witness wedding that happened to take place on hallowe'en.
anyway, on our way home we thought it'd be funny to whip eggs at passing cars.
unfortunately, the first (and last) car i hit was a cruiser.......i realized this as the egg was in mid-air.
A wonderful memory....this was back in the mid 60's during my 'fox era'. Husband at the time, I, and another couple from his workplace went to a real Octoberfest. This was held in a large poleshed type building, real live German band, German food, German Beer, hall full of heavey wooden picknic tables, harvest type decorations, the whole thing. Anyway, I got to the point that someone challenged me that if I would dance on the table, he would drink beer out of my suede-patent 3" pump. So I went for it and must have danced on the table until people began gathering around and clapping. Being rather embarrased at that point because I was the center of attention, I began to pull one after the other of men standing around the table up onto the table to dance with me and yelled at the band to keep the music going. I am told I danced for over an hour with at least 20 different men. I quit dancing when they had to close for the night by Mich. law.
Don't remember much of the ride home, but do remember taking off the panithose with the feet absolutely schredded and the lovely dress pumps soggey with beer. One guy (have absolutely no idea who) telephoned for over a week trying to 'meet' me. Husband at the time thought it was a hoot. Worst hangover ever.

5 years ago i spoke to a close sister about an elderly brother who had made a terrible series of confessions to her.
one of these confessions is alarming and has resonated a sense of horror through me for years.

i'm new to this forum and have been reading all these topics and posts and kind of getting to know some of you.
i've always purposely avoided anti-witness or ex-witness opinion before but i'm tired and am looking for an end to it all.
like it says, i am very much in love with a witness, and she is very much in love with me.
"I'm 'in love' with a witness".......... real lasting love is made up of three important things; 1) Like 2) Respect &3) Admiration those have to be in place when the bloom of youth has given way to age and disability, when the time left is cherished and snuggling is the most wonderful, impotrant, fullfilling emotion, even more satisfying than the fire and vigor of youth. talley/Judy
