Witnesses who married wrong small pond!!

Yup. Born in and raised a JW. Married at 28 and filed for divorce 14 years later. She was violet, controlling, lieing, cheating, narcissistic monster. Called police on her multiple times. Not only is the JW system messed up (you shouldn't called the police, you're bringing reproach on God's name and the congregation), but I couldn't even get a personal protection order against her AFTER she was convicted of domestic violence.

Side note - 10 years ago this week was my last time in a KH. No fade, no announcement. Left after one meeting and never came back. Filed for divorce a few months later when it hit me that she and the congregation were no help and weren't going to change. A year or so of settling in and clearing my mind. 9 years of great life and being happy, healthy and safe.

What is the current Watchtower "rent charge per publisher" for Kingdom Halls in the USA???

i was following a few threads in reddit from current pimo jws complaining about local announcements regarding halls being short on their per publisher "rent payments".

third gen and i have been out pomo for a while...so how much is this charge now?

could this be part of the recent push to get people to "come back" or get re-instated...if it even is online and 15 minutes of service per month?

Jan, LHG said that they used to approach people at the KH who had jobs. They had envelopes asking employed people to put cash into the envelopes for the pioneers, and other under employed witnesses. Not only cash, but rides, and other things like that.

Back when I was in, I got another brother a job were I was working doing 'on call sub contracting' work (dont want to get to specific). About a year later he was crying about no money and going to be evicted. Sure enough everyone starts getting pulled aside and told about an envelope to help a family in need. One of the elders with a brain pulled me aside and asked how it was we worked at the same place and I was doing fine but the other brother was going to get evicted? Told him because I worked and the other brother didnt want to work. Work calls with a job and I was on it, ready to go when they called, everything already in the truck just tell me what and where. The other brother would need to 'think about it', plan out his week, and no joke, look at where he could find breakfast in the area of the job. By the time he was part way done considering the job and would call in with more questions, someone else had the job.

Sure enough the brother pissed off nearly everyone. Received the envelope of cash. Decided he and his family could use a vacation because of the stress and they hadn't had a vacation in a while, and went out of town for a week. Got evicted. Changed halls soon after, probably to repeat the process.

JWs are always a little behind on things. 2024 was the peak year for butt stuff in the news. We'll see if 2025 surpasses it. I have a thought it will be something else this year. Butt butter seems to be starting off the year strong. Do the jws say anything about using items for pleasure? Maybe next year they'll add an article.

watchtower put out some highlights for the 2024 service year:.

average publishers: 8,828,124. peak publishers: 9,043,460. a 43.2 percent increase in "those who returned to jehovah", meaning 65,816 were reinstated.

baptized: 296,267. memorial attendance: 21,119,442. missing stat: number of partakers .. womp womp.

Attended JW funeral today

last one I went to I timed how long they talked about the deceased. 55 seconds. Less than a minute of the hour long funeral. Name, age, date they passed, how long they were a JW, not much else.

some like a deadly devotion episode i saw once tells a true story but the portal of jws is all wrong.

by movies i am not talking of documentaries.

Are you glad you got the Covid Vaccine? Did it help?

i didn’t get the covid vaccine, but i admit, i was scared as shit i made the wrong decision because there was so much confusion out there.

practically all my family and most of my friends took the vaccine because everyone was depending on those in charge to speak the truth.

now a lot of them are sick, and they can't figure out why.

I worked in a nursing home before and during covid. We had 10 people die of covid. Before they got covid they were not in great health and a cold, the flu, or a spicy burrito might have done them in.

A couple years before covid we had 6 people pass in the week between Christmas and New years. It was like they just didn't want to see the next year. Its a nursing home. Unfortunately people die there all the time. Not trying to be cold. Our covid deaths weren't out of line with any other year.

Saw a lot of stupidity during covid. Got threatened with termination if i didn't clean shave my face. "CDC says you can't have a mask properly sealed in your face with a beard". You just did my face mask fit test right? I passed the fit test with a mask on my bearded face right? CDC says you can't. But you just fit tested me, you performed the test and did everything you could to try to get me to fail, I saw how differently you performed the fit test on non bearded people, you tried to get mine to fail and it didn't. My mask properly seals with my neatly trimmed beard.

Doesn't matter shave clean or your fired.

Found an online Dr, got a Dr note saying I can't shave and went to HR. Didn't shave. Didn't get fired.

Still trying to understand why my JW parents wouldn't let me do sports in school because of the association with worldly people but allowed, encouraged and helped me participate in Olympics of the Mind. Even had the bad association worldly kids over to the house to do that.

Just shut my little kid mouth and enjoyed what I could do even if it didn't make sense because I knew if I questioned it what would happen.
