  Mothers-In-Law---GRRRRR!

  last week i spoke to my mother-in-law for the first time since visiting her ugly ass, at christmas, in florida.

  i, unfortuantly, picked up the telephone without checking caller id.

  it was not her usual sunday evening call.

  Hey Puffs,

  That's too bad that she is attempting to make an emotional hostage of you...keep resisting. Chances are you will never get your husband to stand up to her or confront her regarding the stuff she says...their relationship is already pretty well established. And, IMHO, you don't want to try to make him feel like he is choosing.

  But you should also establish your boundaries and keep them sacred. Let hubby know right now that you will never consider having her live with you...it just wouldn't work. Doesn't mean you can't be compassionate to her later on, and fully support him in all his efforts to see that she is well cared for. But it doesn't mean you have to sacrifice your sanity and have her stay with you. Life is too short for that.

  i've been reading these message boards for about a year now and i figured it was time to post my story... me: i was raised in the jw religion, and attended meetings until about age 12. i stopped attending after my grandmother passed away from cancer.

  when i first came to this discussion board, i posted a thread called "brother where art thou?

  although, i have been away from the jws for about 4 years...i had just discovered that my older brother had also left the jws and was posting on this forum.

  Thank you so much for sharing that happy story with us. It gives some people hope who may be in a similar situation. I have relatives I would dearly love to hook up again with some day...we'll see.

  P.S. Pay no attention to 6 of 9...he gets cranky when he doesn't eat his Wheaties.

  Update on my parents

  princess and i have been posting (a couple weeks ago) about the ongoing 'soap opera' involving my mother, her fall, and where she will live.

  three weeks ago, we put her in a group home.

  she is nearly 90, and falls a lot, but has an extremely sharp mind, and is a real "going concern".

  Wow Mulan!

  That's quite a soap opera you have going on in your house. Truth is stranger than fiction. I'm glad things are going better for you, and your mom is able to help out some with your dad. I would think at this point, any relief would be welcome. Enjoy it while it lasts.

  We found the pen thief !

  i always need a pen in my hand when i'm working - i jot things down and do a lot of scribbling (i'm sure a psychologist would have a field day with my doodles).. over the last few weeks though all my pens have been disappearing.

  i blamed angharad who had borrowed them and not put them back, she thought it must be the kids who wanted to draw with them (they've discovered a great paper supply which i like to call 'the printer') but they said they hadn't.. this morning, the culprit was discovered .... i put my pen down on the desk and up popped one of the cats, picked it up in it's mouth and calmly walked off with it.

  we followed it and found a stash of them behind a kitchen cabinet along with a good selection of the kids stickle bricks.. now, i just need to teach it to bring them back!

  over at kent's cozy discussion forum, at http://kent.steinhaug.com/forum/showthread.php3?s=576c225fa464b8a850eaf84a8f511cad&threadid=62, redhorsewoman started a thread wherein she wanted comments about an old highschool classmate (also a jw) that she recently met again.. responding to her post, i said.

  too late for your situation, but i'd treat her as i've come to treat my jw family: leave religion, the truth, jehovah (and the rest of that jw baggage) out of all conversations... unless they bring it up.

  and even then, don't expect much.
