With all that's going on in the world right now, this is a brief moment of wholesomeness! (Well, ok, apart from the appearance of Ellen DeGeneres)
new german chancellor merz has won the election.
trump congratulated his victory but the response was not what trump expected.
merz condemned america, saying that america seemed to be aligning with russia.. he also expressed doubts about nato’s future.. he is now advocating that germany must gain independence from usa.

uh oh, looks like the mega thread gave up the ghost, so while i investigate / fix it just continue the discussion here .... it's been a long 9 years lloyd evans / john cedars.
The kind of trauma she endured from that vermin publicly and privately I think it will take a lifetime to recover.
The cost to her resulted in the loss of her anonymity, and this is due to her own choices as well as her husband’s big fat mouth.
The more I think back about it, the more I believe she* was a victim of long-term domestic abuse (emotionally at least). As I recall, her first appearance that I saw on his channel was when Lloyd was going on some kind of family road trip with her, and with their young girls in the back seats.
She was quite quiet and spoke cautiously, which he "explained" as due to her not enjoying being on camera and preferring to be a private person, but I have often wondered since whether it was also that she was uncomfortable having her conversation with him recorded because she was concerned about what he might say to her that he would then share with the world. She was probably already used to being belittled, patronised and gaslit by him by then, especially on subjects where he thinks he is superior, like JWs and theology (who am I kidding, he thought he was superior in everything!)
Times like that now seem like staged interactions where he was bringing her out of her box like a puppet to dance for him, and to play the loyal "wifey" and mother to his kids, so he could project a squeaky-clean family man image to the public.
(* I've decided from now on I'm going to stop using her name if I refer to her, to help reduce the chances of it appearing linked to Lloyd in future post searches, etc. We all know who we're talking about.)

So according to a new post today from Mit123, the YouTuber Panda Tower has now reached 116K followers, overtaking the Cedars channel's 115K.
That'll give our Lloydy-boy a dilemma.
Does he talk about it in an attempt to boost his following? If so, he risks highlighting the fact he's is becoming more and more irrelevant. And we all know he hates to acknowledge he may not be Numero Uno.
But if he says and does nothing in response, then he will just continue to drift further down.
Decisions, decisions...

…ten bucks says Trump and Putin are quietly planning on divvying up everything above the Arctic Circle between them…
Put that way it does have a kind of twisted logic to it.
Both men are shamelessly opportunistic, both have no respect for anyone who disagrees with them, and both seem to put money, power and nationalism (their own country) above all else. The only difference between them seems to be that Putin will go as far as killing others to achieve his aims, while Trump doesn't quite go that far - as far as we know. Yet.
It's an amazing turnaround, when you think that for decades America - and Republicans in particular - were probably the staunchest opponents of Russian Communism and its expansionism and manipulation and control of narratives, as represented most starkly by its dictatorial leaders and the aggression used by its armed forces. Can you imagine an Eisenhower or a Reagan patting Putin on the back and offering him more slices of Ukraine, while making threats to allies like Canada and countries in western Europe?
Now we have a Republican US President who considers not one but two or even THREE Communist dictators (Putin, Kim Jung Un and possibly Xi) to be people he respects and possibly even friends and allies he wants to work with.
As for the EU, I've felt for many years that it is destined to fail. That's also why I've always supported the principle of Brexit, even though the UK Conservative governments which finally had the guts to allow the people to vote on the issue messed up the implementation (with the help of prominent Remoaners and the EU itself, of course). The cracks in Europe have been there for a long time, especially since it overreached itself with rapid expansion in the 1990s, trying to absorb so many former Soviet countries, and also enforced monetary union and a single currency zone.
The EEC was an understandable and commendable idea at first (to bond neighbouring countries torn by war into a trading union so that they would never fight again), but it was overtaken by the usual greed and hubris of politicians and bureaucrats and mutated into what is now the EU - a misguided attempt to make a European superstate. The combination of Putin's "special military operation", an immigration crisis and the current bizarre twist of fate in American politics is simply hastening the EU's demise by bringing the cracks to the surface even faster.
It's a mad, mad, mad, mad world.
when god hates certain things does that mean you are not expected to do that particular thing or certain things 100% .
1. god hates divorce does that mean we are not expected to divorce at all?
(hint: jesus allow divorce) .
OP raises an interesting point. It seems from scripture that God is a lot more forgiving than most of the humans who claim to represent him, bodies of JW elders included.
WT (and most other religious organisations) like to paint God as a loving father, yet often their portrayal of how he views sin and error is not that of a loving father, and their own internal systems of punishment are far harsher. Shunning and disfellowshipping within JWs being an obvious extreme example.
In contrast, scripture and Jesus himself showed that God is more forgiving and tolerant than often believed, and that would make sense if he truly is a "father" to us all.
strange that after 2 years we still don't know the facts about anthony's resignation.

After this time there are now two mysteries surrounding AMIII - not only the first one, which Vanderhoven spells out so well, of "what actually happened to topple him from his seat on the GB?" but also now, "where is he and what has he been doing since then?"
Although I recall there was strong evidence found of his settling in Lumberton, North Carolina (two documents showing properties purchased by WT in the same street), we've heard nothing for ages about sightings of him at any Kingdom Hall, or out on the street, at a supermarket or wherever. Not even of him appearing on Zoom to give a comment at a meeting, or anything.
It's as though he's vanished off the face of the earth. Is he even still associating with other JWs, or has he become a recluse? Has he gone "inactive" because he's ashamed or embittered about what happened?

And remarkably, around 400 people are still willing to do so.
Yes, that's the bit I still find hard to believe. I really thought his numbers would have dropped significantly below 300 by now. I would have assumed no more than about 150-200 people would've tolerated his nonsense for this long and actually kept paying for the privilege of keeping this farce dragging on and on. 🤔
Maybe there are more people out there than I thought who love to watch others gradually destroy their own lives for entertainment! 😮
third study article....as people moved out of jerusalem before the romans attacked on 70 ce...perhaps there are gonna be instructions for us today about us ...leaving possessions and houses...and moving to a different place.!!.
.
maybe that fits on 'receiving instructions that are not sound by a human pointof view' ??

That's my thought, that might be what the GB have on their mind as expecting to say to the R&F when the "time" comes.
It's seemed to me that's the only thing that fits the narrative of "instructions not sound from a human point of view" and also the videos/pictures they've released from time-to-time of Witnesses together in basements/bunkers and groups running out into remote fields or places to escape authorities "hunting" them down. I think I commented something similar on another thread on this topic.
I still see no reason to think they would ever go down the Jonestown/Branch Davidian/Heaven's Gate kind of routes, but even just demanding members give up their possessions and jobs and cluster together like that would be worryingly dictatorial - as Tonus hinted, it would go ever further than the 1975 debacle.
Notice how they never bring up the possibility of their lakeside world headquarters being raided and the authorities kick them out on their ass!
Agreed. That arrogance always bothered me, even when I was a fresh-out-of-the-pool baptised "brother"
Even IF JWs are being "used by God", how can they explain that in times past, according to their own beliefs:
Yet according to a small group of men in New York, God will NEVER allow a few facilities in the USA to be touched by the legal authorities of the land, whatever that group of men do?

ah, yes, another shining example of the watchtower’s *unmatched* commitment to rational thought.
forget logic, science, or even basic common sense—just blame that suspiciously cursed handbag for all your troubles!
Oh dear, these kind of stories are so embarrassing.
In fairness, the JWs are not the only religious group who have used these kind of scaremongering superstitious stories in the past.
And as Jan said, we don't even know if the basic premise is even true. The WT has frequently quoted "experiences" of dubious origin and sparse detail which conveniently fit perfectly the narrative or argument they want to use at any given time.
elon was looking at the way they audit within the government agencies.
he found there are no links to payments made.

"Dodge". Hah! What an appropriate typo!
While I can appreciate there's government waste that can be cut - there always is, in most countries - it's clear that DOGE and Musk are only there on an agenda of their own (which, to be fair is also usually true of any incoming party in most countries).
Ultimately, all governments commit fraud and misallocate funds to some degree - as do all major corporations. In commerce, it's called "tax avoidance" (but is usually so 'creative' it really amounts to tax evasion).
