The UN will find JW's taking credit for progress and blaming Christendom for everything else. But maybe I'm just a little extra bitter today.

What are your current beliefs on God and the bible
by Leander inwhen i first left the wts initially my intentions were to continue studying the bible on my own.
but now i really don't see the bible as being a true source of guidance.
as a witness i used to constantly read in the articles that god loves mankind, but how much love could there be if there are so many different religions all claiming to be the right one?

The reason Jesus taught in parables is because it made you ask questions, if you wanted the answers you had to study and search, "seek ye first the kingdom of God". I think the reason for your pessimism is because the WT used the Bible only to support their teachings, instead of using their teachings to support the Bible.

Are we supposed to follow the law or not?
by Elsewhere inmust follow law.
then, indeed, the lawless one will be revealed, whom the lord jesus will do away with by the spirit of his mouth and bring to nothing by the manifestation of his presence.".
--2 thessalonians 2:8. must not follow law.

The OT was the Mosaic Law system. The OT also prophetically pointed to Christ as the perfect way of salvation. The Law was given to show men the need for a savior because none could do it. Jesus came and said he didn't come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it, which he did. The NT teaches we are saved by faith in Christ's death and promise. We observe and trust the law as good things, but since we can never follow it perfectly, we need his undeserved kindness to save us. Faith produces good works, but to ever think that by our works we could be saved without His grace is wrong. The Bible warns against trying and asks, if we could be saved by our own works, Christ died for nothing.
Get a concordance and look up the word grace, or undeserved kindness, and search the scriptures. Make sure you are praying for understanding and it will be given to you.

everone is in confusion
by zolensky ini joined this site last week hoping to meet people that would steer me back to the organization.
instead the people i have talked to her are all trying to tell me too see the light and get out of the organization.
in my opinion, not that it matters, i really think that if a person had the truth deeply ingrained in them, they would never leave the truth.
-
Gig
You said that if anyone had the truth really ingrained in them, they would never leave. They will if the so-called truth is false, and they have. Many here are examples. The truth is naturally ingrained in us, we want it and need it, but some need it more than others...usually those that are so convinced they already have it.
The WT controls your behavior by controlling information. At the same time the only info you're allowed is controlling your thoughts that produce your behavior. The easiest way to control your thoughts is to control your emotions. It feels good to please Jehovah, there's nothing better, but humbly submitting to some organization so-called His arrangement is not going to do it.
What seems to be ingrained in you is untrue, but the truth doesn't need you to be true. None of us are perfect either, which we'll freely admit. Be careful if you go back not to boast, God created foolishness for that very reason.

Perfect
by Gig inhow about a little friendly competition?
who can offer the best example of perfect irony?
for example, the wt teaches that we should regard the wt mag just as we would the word of god yet they also teach that they never claimed to be infallible and that you should have checked for yourself, all your fault for the mistake.

Actual quotes get bonus points. If someone stole your idea vote for theirs, although I can't even begin to believe we could cover them all. I hope this soon has a little flaming folder next to it. Hey, let's counter our bitterness with a little exposure along with a laugh. Who's in?

How would you answer?
by sunshineToo ini hate hearing, "you left jehovah?
" as if i abandoned god.
i get angry.

You get angry because of the rediculous contradiction that they try to push on you. They line between God and the WT GB has been removed. A good witness is one who never doubts, never questions, always trusts, and always obeys the Org. The smallest peek into their history would convince anyone with an open mind of the danger. But their minds are closed, all in the name of the Almighty according to the WT, what a terrible irony. They can no longer see the difference. My advice? If you don't want to argue, just reference the Bible, it plainly says to trust God NOT men. I know they have a hundred arguements prepared for you, and in their minds they are well pleasing to Jehovah because of it. It's simple, you insist on the truth. The WT's own instructions (for those possible candidates) is to reject your religion if it hasn't been truthful and/or dishonest. This actually gives me an idea, watch for a new topic soon called "perfect."
Try not to get angry, it only encourages them and makes it easier to dismiss you.

A friend of mine bought a superman costume for his son, they got home and the boy couldn't wait to try it on. His son raced upstairs and a few minutes later his dad heard running footsteps, a moment of silence, a big crash, followed by crying. He runs upstairs and asks his son what happened. His son, still crying, and with great disappointment says, "it doesn't work."
True story, enjoyed a laugh at the rest too envisioning why they would need to offer such cautions and instructions. There will always be greater and lesser than yourself.

At the top
by Gig indo you believe that the gb members, and the wt writers are consciously aware of their dishonesty and deceit?
i really can't imagine, after reading so many of their articles and books, that the manipulation is by chance.
it's one thing to really believe what you are writing will help people and try to maintain authority when doing so, but i've found too many examples of outright verbal abuse.

Can you picture the WT writers discussing their work with the GB and talking strategy and tactics? I can't see any other way to accomplish such controlling language than if they are fully aware of their attempts to mislead. You have to admit, at a glance it all sounds pretty convincing, very crafty writing...but once you have reason to suspect a problem, it's really not hard to see the real message...and then the crafty writing seems so deliberate.
Do they know full well they're doing exactly the opposite of what they insist the readers do? Can it literally be evil and wicked at the very top (or is it the bottom) and they know it? Can we take any comfort in knowing the GB has a guilty conscience? It would be nice, what do you think?

Meetings 2 much like enimas to go anymore.....
by WingCommander inyeah, you heard me.
the meetings are too darn much like having an enima to even bother to go anymore.
i get the same message from only attending about 8 meetings a year to hold me over.
-
Gig
I agree that the meetings are redundant and predictable, I honestly wonder how those who have been witnesses for years cannot come to the same conclusion. The Word is alive and is supposed to do the same for us. The WT is all about fear closely followed by intimidation. JW's never truly relieved because they are never allowed to get there, their real identities are purposely suppressed in favor of the JW identity, which we all know is what is required of them to be pleasing to the almighty org.
This whole cult thing continues to amaze me.
